- Potential physical dangers to Catholics living in Northern Ireland are a recurring theme throughout the series. Terrorist bombings and killings are discussed. The aftermath of one bombing is shown on TV; people are reported to have died. Graffiti and a parade by Protestant Orangemen are presented as threatening.
- One girl accidentally set a woman's living room on fire. To not get caught their mothers tie the main characters to the radiator in an attempt to stage a burglary. The scene is comedic in nature.

- In Series 3, Episode 6, the group comes back from the concert, to learn from Gerry that Claire's dad has suffered an aneurysm. After waiting in the hospital for Claire, she comes out, crying. It is revealed that he died. Very sad and heartbreaking for viewers.
