Are You Hot? The Search for America's Sexiest People (2003)
The most ratchet show I've ever seen
Let me just preface by pointing out that I only had the misfortune to find and view one episode of this godforsaken thing. But I highly doubt living through more than the one I did experience would give me anything more meaningful than a flu.
The show is exactly what you expect, only with more #MeToo-ish judges than you might have imagined. People go on stage and you watch judges deem whether the person is hot or not, followed by a second round where those deemed hot are given numerical ratings for their face, body, respectively. It seems to be entirely arbitrary and based on the judges' personal tastes, as you might expect, and the whole thing leaves you feeling dirtier than had you taken a head-first dive into a vat of snot.
Heartily recommended.
King of the Nerds (2015)
King of the Nerds: Poverty Edition
If you thought King of the Nerds (US) was a somewhat awkward, mildly wince-inducing show, or that it didn't have the budget to pull of what it wanted to, then get ready to eat your words - The UK version has the same appeals to pop culture, not-really-nerdy topics, unclear rules and unreasonable challenges as the one from the other side of the Atlantic, but with seemingly one tenth of the budget. The only aspect of the show with any semblance of high production value was the music, which had a strangely liberal amount of licensed material. Perhaps the UK law is different? Either way, the nigh-impoverished conditions under which the show was apparently filmed makes for some entertainment, but not of the intended kind. The host also seems miscast or misdirected, exemplifying a presentation more fitting for a Sky News weather host than the ringleader of a nerdy competition. At least it had less unnecessary drama, and some of the contestants were likeable.
9/11 (2017)
Somehow boring
The last thing I'd expected to call this movie was 'boring'. Yet here we are. The movie is one half Whoopi Goldberg mumbling into a phone and one half Charlie Sheen hosting a directionless podcast in an elevator while 9/11 news footage plays now and then.
