Lucky Number Slevin (2006)
Loved it
The dialog moves so quick you have to rewind and listen to it again. this was a great surprise.
The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that Lucy Lui was a coroner. Seemed a little too convenient for a story that was written so well.
Great to see Josh Hartnett get the role he deserves and putting him up against Freedman and Kingsley.
I loved how every actor got a monologue. You can easily tell why each signed on.
Looking forward to seeing what the writer does next. Critics of this movie should re-examine why they do what they do.
The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Amazing
Can't say enough about this movie. It has style and characters you and your friends will be quoting for years. Loved the Manson/Tex Watson quote "I'm the devil, and I'm here to do the devils's work." It so eerie in so many ways.
Rob Zombie has a clear vision, style and talent. He's a fan of horror movies and it shows. Can't wait to see what he does next.
He's a good of a director as he is a writer. I love his use of actors from the past and making them current ala Tarantino Loved the motel scene.
Keep it up.
Cries in the Dark (2006)
Eva
I give it an 8 just for Eva alone. I think she did well and had a great tough chick role. Would've liked a little more gore, but hey it's TV I guess...
The villain worked like a Kathy Bates type crazy and her reveal at the end was great.
For a Lifetime movie it was worth my time and I didn't flick the channel. I would love to see Eva do more like this. Or even to have Eva do a feature film. She has a lot of talent and isn't being used enough. Look forward to seeing her more in CSI Miami too.
When this movie comes on again, can anyone let me know. Thanks in advance.
Intermedio (2005)
Cerina!
Cerina's a babe...sexy as hell in this movie. This sorta has a feel like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Railsback actually looks like he could've stepped off the set of TM. Good pace overall. Could've used some more special effects but I'm guessing the budget didn't allow for that. I saw a behind the scenes on this on one of Amber Benson's sites, some funny stuff. Could've been longer though. I wonder who's gonna be the next Buffy cast member to do a horror? If you're a fan of the the 70's indy horrors, check this out. Again, Tobe Hooper comes to mind... and maybe a young young Wes Craven. Some nudity woulda been nice too.
The Grudge (2004)
The Grudge
I thought this was going to be a lot scarier than it was. I'm a big fan of The Ring, and found that movie much more unsettling. I haven't seen the original of either but hear they're both great. Pullman's intro was great, second only to the "Dick Laurent is dead" in Lost Highway. the first scare was great in the attic and I wished there were more scenes like that in the film. also a question to everyone out there... I understand the curse and the house, but why did the ghost go into the apartment building? I'm sure'll there will be a sequel, hopefully a little more suspense and if not, a little more gore. But again, this is just an opinion.
