The Price of a Broken Heart (1999)
Pathetic.
A bitter ex wife sues her husband's mistress via some ridiculous old law that should've been banned from being used in divorce cases after 1800. So bitter she is that she couldn't move on like any sane person would do. If this were a man who did this there'd be hissing from all the critics about what a louse he is. But no,make it a woman doing something this stupid and she's a heroine. Brave, strong, determined, and all the other usual bull that Lifetime and other lousy tv movies put out nowadays. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone in good conscience for fear of reprisal by being made to sit and watch a Barbra Streisand movie by my now vengeful ex friend or angry relative.
All-American Girl: The Mary Kay Letourneau Story (2000)
Poor Mary Kay
Only in America would people still be fans of actual rapists like R Kelly,Michael Jackson, and Bill Clinton. But Mary Kay Letourneau, run for cover folks,it's the boogeywoman!.She was a poor lonely, soul who was in a bad place in her sad life at the time and this gangbanger, not an innocent kid, pursued and lander her. Yet the press manipulated the public to make her appear to be the villain. I grow weary of all the self righteous types who viciously insult her even after she's long since passed away. The movie seemed to have taken cues from both James Robinson and Greg Olsen's books. It humanized her and played more fair with her than the press did or ever could. I still remember the closing scene as she starts her sentence. Vili leaves his daughters with his mother while he goes upstairs to make out with a girl his own age. That's appalling behavior for a father. Frankly I believe Mary was too good for Steve, the abuser, and Vili, the user. He got away with seducing her and dumping her when he didn't want to be with an almost 60 year old woman. Penelope Ann Miller played the role pretty good. May Mary Kay Letournau be at peace now.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
The Nightmare We Should've Gotten
There was nothing wrong with the original but it seemed like they wanted to do something else but couldn't with Freddy Krueger. I find the idea of making him a child predator creepy because he looks like a friendly guy here. This makes it more chilling with his dead voice toying with each teen like a cat does with a mouse. Obviously Robert Englund's the best Freddy Krueger but Jackie Early Haley does a decent job, making his version of the character different. He's less wisecracking and more like a barracuda who just wants to kill. If anyone was weak here it was Rooney Mara although she was okay. It's pretty good and the Nightmare On Elm Street we should've gotten.
