Man with My Husband's Face (2023)
Another must watch in fast forward mode movie
Would have been decent if: they would have acknowledged the dead lawyer, the police was called from the storage unit/crime scene if the door was not going to be closed🙄, the dead body smelled as it should, if Katrina didn't turn a major klutz at the end by moving without looking and tripping excessively while running!
Other than that, use the FF button to speed through the annoying, predictable parts.
I must admit Katrina's character was the best acted in the movie, and is not her fault they gave her idiotic scenes that made her act more dumb than insane.
I seem to remember a time when Lifetime movies were good more often than not.
Escape from Love (2023)
Waste time at your own risk
If you choose to go ahead and watch it, I encourage you to keep remote in hand and finger on the FF button. It will save you from wasting more time than necessary.
Lame dialog. Subpar acting, if based on a true story it must be a very loose connection.
If you are trying to escape, run like you mean it! Not with a ridiculous trot. Some scenes are so bad, you can't fast forward fast enough!
I find it hard to believe that anyone who is married to a person they don't trust, will let that person file their divorce papers and not ask for a copy of the decree! Seriously? I know they say reality is crazier than fiction, but, come on! I don't want to spend time searching if that part is actually true. It is too hard to believe it is. If someone finds it was real, let us know?
The Legend of Barney Thomson (2015)
Slapstick at its best!
It awes me that so many "reviews" are actual summaries and synopsys or how they are intent in including a narrative that has already being included in the site for all to read. Is tiring to read! Why can't people just review and give opinion??
I am guessing many of the low ratings are from the Western Hemisphere viewers. Many that find Dumb and Dumber, Dude where is my car? And the like as the funniest comedies.
I have found myself fast forwarding that type of film nowadays, where they insert absurdity and dumb slapstick for the heck of it. Throw crap on the wall to see what sticks? It nauseates me! Not only because the slapstick is nonsensical but because the acting does not salvage most of it!
I agree that the type of comedy in Barney Thomson is not for everyone. The accent and colloquialisms, the culture, all an acquired taste. In need of an open mind willing to see how reality and insanity are separated by a thin line. Real life could be as coincidental and unexpected! And crazy!
It is a refreshing reprieve from stupid Hollywood "comedies", where the Jerry Lewis and Lucille Ball type of characters have been overdone and trampled.
Thank you Carlyle! Great casting, acting and directing! Yes, it kept me on edge wondering what next, but it was delightful to see it unfold as it did.
I agree with using captions as an aid to understanding the dialects.
The Curse of EVE (2019)
If this film won 3 awards and 5 nominations, the competition must have been garbage as well!
How in the world does this win any award?? I had just finished watching Rare Blood and thought that one to be horrible until I started this one. Someone reviewed Rare Blood as the worse movie they have seen so obviously they have not seen this one.
My jaw dropped from the beginning at how bad the picture quality was and how amateurish the acting seemed. At first, I likened it to watching community theater, but, amateur community plays.
I have taken to FF movies that drag scenes in order to save time for more movie watching and I did a lot of FF with this movie. It was the only way I could bring myself to finish watching it, by shortening it with FF.
I hesitantly watch movies rated 3 or less on Prime, because it could be really bad or pretty good and you wonder why it did not 4-5 stars/5?
How does anyone think they can get away with cheap plastic snakes as a tool to scare? It was hilarious!
Some scenes made no sense and they should have been edited or the script changed. How many living rooms with couch are in that house? Confusing!
The "apparitions" were bad photoshopping.
The mother's car keys were right there in the front lawn, easy to spot.
Pretty lame fight with her SIL. Christie has terrible sense of direction and cannot read road maps or own one. Please!s
If you FF smartly, you can watch it in less than 45 minutes and would be the only way it can be watched in its entirety, otherwise, watch until the fake snakes and end the watching while you are still laughing.
Rare Blood (2020)
Smart watching by FF irrelevant scenes and dialog will make this bearable
I have taken to FF movies with drag on scenes in order to save time for more movie watching, and I did a lot of FF with this movie. One scene in particular made no sense and it should have been edited or the script changed. Why would any one leave the safety of their bedroom, to go yell at a person holding a gun who is violent and unstable? Dumb scene: walk downstairs, yell at armed madman, run back upstairs to hide. Please!
Parts of the story seemed irrelevant and confusing.
Police officers that receive call of domestic disturbance and do not talk to both spouses to make sure both are alive and safe. If you FF smartly, you can enjoy a so so story.
Death of a Vlogger (2019)
If you can't tell if it is a mockumentary or horror, the film is over 5 stars!
First turn off was the title, as there are so many channels and wannabe celebrities online, who to follow becomes overwhelming. But I started watching and thought the acting was bad until I realized that if it felt amateurish, then it was well acted! As the film progresses and the host needs to project emotions across his vlog and into the actual film audience, you realize his amateur acting was, well, an act. If you are left wondering at the end, what the film was supposed to be, then the makers made a good film.
Is it real world "reality" or made up? What is reality? Can you trust your eyes anymore? Fake, real, ethics, honor, honesty, entertainment, real world or internet cruelty, addiction, moral dilemmas, psychological trauma? It is all there. One of those movies that I am glad I got past the title and ambiguous synopsis.
Striking Poses (1998)
Some fast forwarding but for the most part
It kept me watching at normal speed. I have taken to holding the remote while watching movies in order to "edit" its length and bypass unnecessary scenes. I did use it in this movie but, had to keep it normal most of the time (and even rewinded scenes a few times) in order to understand what was happening!
I felt it was strange that women would open doors without asking who it was even they knew there was a stalker. It annoys me when movies place females acting stupid for the heck of perpetuating stereotypes. I later understood why one of them had a big smile when she opened the door without asking. At the time, it was puzzling. It was also puzzling that the heavy duty security did not include checking for cyber breaches. Again, I understood later on. Griffin was not a very good actor and it was hard to watch him. The cops and the FBI agents were not very believable either. At one point, I started wondering if the cops were part of the whole con. Movie was very good at hiding the "bad guys" for most of the time. I still don't know who was not in on the con, but was happy to see the ending, which I suspected during the last 15 minutes of the movie. I just did not know who else was going to be left standing.
I read some of the "reviews" here and I must say that I did not want mine to be like the ones who think they are here to critique as professionals. I don't need to read a plot summary in a lay person's reviews. That is already in the site's description. I want to read how people felt, what they liked and disliked. Since we all have different tastes, you will have to watch it to make up your own mind. I do recommend you give it a shot, even if you hold the remote for a while!
