Oxygen (1999)
Good, but not fabulous
I ordered this movie from amazon.com and wasn't disappointed. It isn't wonderful, but it's thoroughly entertaining, pretty scary, and Adrian Brody's character was fascinating. He and Maura Tierney both did excellent jobs in this film, although Maura Tierney's character was slightly less developed. The plot is well crafted and the movie is engaging. I recommend this movie.
Scream 3 (2000)
Good Entertainment
Obviously this movie isn't incredibly complex, and if you're looking for a movie with a meaningful message about life you're going to be disappointed, but all this movie is trying to be is entertaining and that it is. My usual recommendation is to stay far, far away from any movie with a number larger than two after its title, but Scream 3 is the exception. If you liked the first two, my guess is that you will like this one. A good conclusion to the trilogy with a completely unpredictable ending. Go see it!
Since You've Been Gone (1998)
Utterly Pointless
This movie is terrible. There is no plot, no characterization, and in general no laughs. Lara Flynn Boyle of the The Practice is actually pretty funny, but she was the bright spot in an otherwise dull and unfunny movie. David Schwimmer, although hilarious on Friends, missed the mark here.
Jude (1996)
Absolutely Wonderful
Jude is possibly my favorite movie. It's well-written, well-photographed, and the acting is so wonderful words will not describe it. Christopher Eccleston fits the part perfectly and Kate Winslet deserves an Oscar for her portrayal of Sue Bridehead. I usually don't cry at movies but tears were rolling down my face by the end of this one. I will say that this movie is absolutely not a good one for people who like a happy ending, as it is possibly the most depressing movie I have ever seen. Otherwise, rent Jude - you won't regret it!
