French director Alexandre Aja has been in the horror game for a long time; over two decades, in fact. His 2003 breakout “High Tension” cemented him as an up-and-comer in the genre, and after moving stateside to work in Hollywood, he furthered his career with remakes like “The Hills Have Eyes” and “Piranha.” But Aja hasn’t had a real hit since 2019’s “Crawl,” a taut survivalist thriller B-movie that revived the director’s career.

Oooh, this looks creepy.
"Never Let Go" is a new horror film from Alexandre Aja, director of the pretty good remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" and the excellent killer alligator movie "Crawl." With his new feature, Aja seems to be channeling "A Quiet Place" crossed with a bit of the supernatural, resulting in this effective trailer. In "Never Let Go," Halle Berry plays a mother who is hiding out in the woods with her twin sons. According to Berry's character, these are post-apocalyptic times. Berry tells her sons that they'll be safe as long as they tether themselves to the secluded cabin where they're hiding out. But what's really going on here? And what's lurking out in the woods? I don't know. All I know is that the dog that shows up in the trailer better make it out alive.

After crafting some of the most entertaining B-movies in recent years with Crawl and Oxygen, Alexandre Aja is returning with a new one-location psychological thriller this year. Never Let Go, not to be confused with Kazuo Ishiguro’s book and Mark Romanek’s adaptation, stars Halle Berry, Percy Daggs IV, and Anthony B. Jenkins. Ahead of a September release, the first trailer has now arrived.
Here’s the synopsis: “From visionary director Alexandre Aja and the creative minds behind Stranger Things and Arrival comes Never Let Go. About two years ago, we heard that Halle Berry had signed on to star in a horror movie called Mother Land, with genre regular Alexandre Aja on board to direct. Originally announced last year under the title Mother Land, the next film from director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Crawl) is now titled Never Let Go, and Lionsgate has released the official trailer this morning. Watch it below.
Never Let Go arrives in theaters on September 27, 2024. The premise for this one looks to be similar to films including A Quiet Place and Bird Box, centered on a small family unit’s struggle to survive within a world gone to hell. There’s a whole lot of snake-like imagery in this first look trailer – jump to 1:44 for a blink-and-miss-it little tease… or check out our screen-grab below – but the threat outside their door is still very much a mystery at this point in time.
All we know is… one touch is all it takes…
Academy Award winner Halle Berry is leading the film’s cast.

Time for something scary. Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for Never Let Go, a new horror from the acclaimed horror filmmaker Alexandre Aja. This one is set for release in theaters nationwide in September later this year. Never Let Go follows a mother and her fraternal twin sons who have been tormented by an evil spirit for years and are convinced to never let go of their family’s protective bond. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, their connection is severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. It's set almost entirely at a creepy old cabin in the woods. Halle Berry stars as the mother, with Percy Daggs IV & Anthony B. Jenkins as the two boys. Alexandre Aja is a master of horror and is always cooking up something terrifying - this is no exception. A chilling trailer promising a clever new horror...

Exclusive: Kaya Scodelario (The Gentlemen) and Billie Lourd (Booksmart) have signed on to star alongside Josh Gad, Anthony Carrigan and Alex Winter in Winter’s darkly comic modern noir Adulthood.
Details as to their roles are under wraps.
Currently shooting in Ottawa, Canada, Adulthood is about a sister and brother, Megan and Noah, who are barely hanging on in present-day America, like all of us. When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder.
Novelist Michael M.B. Galvin wrote the script. In addition to Winter, producers on the project include Scott Kroopf (Limitless), Lisa Wolofsky (Tow) and Russell Hollander (Flight Risk), as well as Olive Hill Media’s Michael Cho and Tim Lee, and Fresh Fish Films’ Danny Roberts, H.S. Naji and Jackie Langelier. Connie Tavel is exec producing alongside Mimi Rode for Olive Hill Media and Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science. Olive Hill Media and Fresh Fish Films are financing, with Rocket Science arranging finance for international sales.
Currently starring as Susie Glass in Guy Ritchie’s acclaimed Netflix crime drama The Gentlemen, based on his same-name film, Scodelario is otherwise best known for roles in films like Crawl, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, The Maze Runner franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Moon and more. Up next, she’ll be seen in Netflix’s limited series Senna on the Formula 1 champion of the same name.
Most recently seen in numerous seasons of American Horror Story, Lourd’s other notable credits include the rom-com Ticket to Paradise, Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, three Star Wars films and Fox’s Scream Queens. Among her other upcoming projects is Gia Coppola’s film The Last Showgirl with Pamela Anderson.
Scodelario is repped by CAA, Curtis Brown, Group, Anonymous Content and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Lourd by CAA.

Cocaine Bear surprised everyone with its box office haul. For fans of animal attack movies, this is not a shock. People love animal attack films and can’t get enough of them. I’m not sure if it’s the man vs. nature theme of the films, the animals themselves getting revenge on humans, or just the all-around fun these films bring. No matter what, they are enjoyable for audiences in theaters. There has been a long history of animals attacking humans on film. Some films that are classified as ‘classic’ cinema fall into the animal attack category. We can always use more movies of animals rampaging through humans on the big screen. What are some of the best animal attack movies?

Update: A trailer for Never Let Go was shown during the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon today, and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance. Here’s a description of what he saw: “Halle Berry and her two kids are living in a cabin after the world ends. This cabin has a rope/pulley system & they must be attached to you when leaving the house. The monsters/entities (they are very vague on what the threat is but its something that is physical) can’t get you with the rope attached to you and so they (monsters?) are trying to convince one child to doubt the rope safety. They want them to detach and if so, we see that it would put them in grave danger. The kids are twins born in a house that they have never left because of the dangers on the outside. Lionsgate delays two of its big release: The Crow remake is still arriving this year, but Saw XI no longer is. More here.
Lionsgate has delayed two of its planned releases, pushing both The Crow and Saw XI out of their respective release slots and further down the line.
Saw XI has been delayed for a full year, with the film being pushed from September 2024 all the way back to September 2025. Given that the project only confirmed that Saw X's Kevin Greutert was returning as director back in February, this one is clearly still in development mode. We haven’t heard any casting news yet, meaning that September release date was simply not doable, especially given that its predecessor, Saw X picked up pretty good reviews.
With the long-running horror series once again on the rise, Lionsgate won’t want to rush out a sequel and damage the series’ newfound momentum.

During the knuckle-biting climax of Steven Spielberg's 1984 adventure film "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," the title hero (Harrison Ford) finds himself on a rope bridge, suspended 100 feet over a canal in India. Evil henchmen with swords are approaching him from either side, aiming to grab the mystical Sankara stones from his satchel. In the ravine below, vicious crocodiles await, hoping to eat any poor souls who may fall. Indiana Jones, seeing no other way out, extracts a sword and threatens to cut the rope bridge. It's all very exciting.
One can forgive a lot of physical improbabilities in Spielberg's "Indiana Jones" movies, as they tend to be so enjoyable to watch. In the fantasy world of "Indiana Jones," we don't really care about Indy's bodily injuries. ‘Tis the season to watch holiday-themed horror, so we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to compile a list of the Best Christmas Horror Movies! All of the films below are, at the very least, set around Christmastime, and some of them take the connection to the holidays further than that. Here are the top 12 horror movies that we recommend checking out over the next week:

It’s easy to forget that I Come in Peace (a.k.a. More and more remakes. So many remakes. Not all are good, some would even say that most remakes are trash. However, some are good, some are great even. This leads us to this movie, the remake of Maniac (watch it Here) released to the general public in 2013. While some hated it and with reason, others loved it, also with reason. The film is one of those that made changes that worked for the story and helped bring it to the new audience, who then turned around and saw the original. Well, some of them did. However, this remake didn’t exactly hit it big at the box office and it still seems to be finding its audience.

Last month, we learned that Paramount Home Entertainment would be releasing a five film 4K box set called Paramount Scares Vol. 1, which would include Rosemary’s Baby (1968) and Pet Sematary (1989), plus a pair of recent box office successes, Crawl (2019) and Smile (2022). Intriguingly, Paramount chose to keep the fifth film in the set a mystery… But now that we’ve reached the set’s October 24th release date, it has been revealed that the fifth movie in the set is Tim Burton’s 2007 film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, making its 4K debut! Franck Khalfoun, the French filmmaker behind P2 and Maniac (2012), returns this Halloween season with Night of the Hunted, a new survival horror movie on the way from Shudder.
The film just had its world premiere at Beyond Fest 2023 and will stream exclusively on Shudder next Friday, October 20. Watch the official trailer down below.
Set in the American west, Night of the Hunted follows Alice, played by Camilla Rowe, as a road trip turns into a fight for her life when a vengeful sniper targets her and traps her in a remote, isolated gas station. “An indictment of modern polarized politics, the film is a tight but brutal single-location thriller,” Shudder previews in the official press release.
Night of the Hunted is produced by Alexandre Aja, serving as the 3rd collaboration between Aja and director Franck Khalfoun.
Franck Khalfoun and Glen Freyer wrote the screenplay.

There’s a lot to watch on Prime Video in October and, as you may have guessed, there’s spooky stuff galore in amongst Prime’s usual rotation of extensive library content.
In the movie Totally Killer, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Kiernan Shipka travels back in time to the 1980s to stop a serial killer. Then there’s Make Me Scream, a Halloween special that challenges celebrities to “a gruesome game of terror.” Renfield will also be streaming on the service for anyone who’s been dying (muahahaha!) to catch the Nic Cage Dracula film.
Outside of Prime Video’s more creepy fare, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods will debut, Upload will be back for a third season, and new film Awareness should scratch your sci-fi itch. Meanwhile, for Frasier heads – those who consider themselves utterly Frasier-pilled – all eleven seasons of the Cheers spinoff show will be streaming at the touch of a button.

Ashley Brucks also oversaw both “Quiet Place” movies — itself an original horror franchise that has thus far earned $631 million worldwide with a third on the way next March. She helped revive the “Scream” franchise via the last two installments and can claim credit for the success of “The Lost City,” “Crawl” and the recent “Pet Semetary” remake.

Screen Gems has a new leader.
Ashley Brucks has been named president of the Sony film division, best known for its lower-budgeted genre and comedy fare.
The exec, coming in from Paramount where she served as an exec vp at studio label Paramount Players, steps into the shoes worn by Steve Bersch, who stepped down last week and retired after a 16-year stint at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Bersch oversaw several divisions, including faith-based Affirm Film, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and Screen Gems. Brucks, who begins her post Nov. 13, will only lead the latter and will report to motion picture group president Josh Greenstein and Sanford Panitch. (Affirm will continue to be run by Rich Peluso and Spwa will still be headed by Joe Matukewicz. Instead of reporting into Bersch, the pair will now report into Greenstein and Panitch.)

Of all of the young actors to break through thanks to the success of "Stranger Things," Sadie Sink has had arguably one of the most interesting career trajectories. Sink got her start on Broadway playing the titular role of "Annie," and had a handful of TV appearances on shows like "The Americans" and "Blue Bloods" before nabbing a main role in "American Odyssey." Unfortunately, that show only lasted one season, canceled by NBC only two days after the season finale. When Sink was cast as Max Mayfield on "Stranger Things" in season 2, she immediately became a fan favorite. Max has become the bleeding heart of the series, and her popularity even prevented show creators, The Duffer Brothers, from killing off the character in season 4 as originally planned.
Following "Stranger Things," Sink has continued to thrive by starring in "Fear Street: 1978," Taylor Swift's short film, "All Too Well," Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale,...

The scene where Robert Shaw gets eaten in “Jaws” is one of the most thrilling moments in movie history. After all of Steven Spielberg’s virtuoso framing and cool ’70s Hitchcock scare tactics, the shark’s big-mouthed consumption of a man who fully deserves to be eaten had a shockingly raw “Look, there it is!” exploitation-film brazenness. (One not inaccurate way to describe “Jaws” would be to call it the greatest B-movie ever made.) “The Flood,” an alligator-attack movie that’s also a violent prison-break thriller, takes its cue from that scene. Set in a backwater Louisiana police station during a hurricane, the film isn’t shy about serving up its big, nasty human-torso-meets-jaws moments. It’s basically a slasher movie with teeth.
The alligator thriller, of course, was always a bargain-basement knockoff of “Jaws” — literally, since the alligators are inevitably slithering out of some basement somewhere. But it was...

Plot: A daring jailbreak during a dangerous Louisiana hurricane is interrupted by a horde of large hungry alligators.
Review: I’ll always count myself as a lover of absurd killer animal movies. When done right, they can be heightened explorations of the relationship between humanity and nature. When done wrong, they can be schlocky messes that don’t really have much to say about anything. The Flood is more of the latter with its very cheap effects and some of the most absurd story beats I’ve seen all year. Given the Louisiana setting, it’s hard not to think of a similarly themed Gator movie, Crawl. Unfortunately, that’s where the similarities end.

Borrowing a page from 2019’s Crawl, The Flood aims to escalate the thrills by pitting man-eating alligators against cops and prisoners in a flooded Louisiana jail amidst a raging hurricane. It’s a high concept scenario that lends itself well to action-horror thrills and B-movie fun. The Flood doesn’t quite follow through on execution, though. It’s not the rough effects that sink The Flood, but an overly convoluted plot that bogs down the runtime.

Lionsgate and Saban Films will unleash the alligator horror movie The Flood this summer (watch the trailer here), and the film’s official MPA rating has been handed in this week.
The Flood has been Rated “R” for…
“Violence, some gore, and language throughout.”
The action-horror movie hits Theaters, On Demand and Digital on July 14, 2023. The premise suggests a Syfy-style monster movie – alligators inside a prison – but the execution looks a lot closer to Alexandre Aja’s Crawl than anything you’d find on the Syfy network.
Think Crawl meets Assault on Precinct 13.
The Flood is directed by Brandon Slagle (Frost, The Dawn) and co-written by Chad Law (Section 8, Close Range, 6 Bullets) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
In the film, “A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.”
Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers,...

Around this time every year, I tend to enjoy putting on Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. In this household it’s as annual a hallmark of summer as warm breezes, smoking meat on the barbecue, and blasts of chlorine water. However, it is too easy to fall into the trap of thinking Spielberg had the first and last word in the sounds of shrieking at the beach.
In truth, there are many great summertime chillers that make your blood run cold, and the sand turn to ice between your toes, no matter how hot the temperature is. Hence why we here at Den of Geek have put our heads together to figure what are the absolute best beachside horror movies (other than the obvious one) that will make you a “lake person” for the rest of your life. Enjoy!

"We're all going to get eaten alive!" Yes, yes they probably will. Saban Films has revealed the trailer for an action horror movie called The Flood, another of these junky direct-to-video B-movie horror flicks that seem to be popping up all the time now. It's from the same bad filmmaker who also made Battle For Saipan, also with Casper Van Dien, who is back again for this one. A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana. Yes, this is the alligators-in-a-prison movie, if anyone wants to watch. Starring Casper Van Dien, Nicky Whelan, Louis Mandylor, Devanny Pinn, Ryan Francis, Randy Wayne, and Kim DeLonghi. This does not seem worth anyone's time or money - steer clear of this one, folks. There are plenty of other better giant alligator / croc movies to watch instead: Sewer Gators,...

With the release date so close, we knew a trailer would be available soon – we just didn’t expect it to be this soon! The trailer for The Flood is now online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
