After an underwhelming opening episode.
The second episode of The War of the Worlds was a marginal improvement.
George is desperately looking for pregnant Amy. However he is forcibly conscripted to fight the Martian tripods. One soldier thinks that a sphere lying in the water would be like shooting fish in the barrel. A big mistake.
In London, Amy is desperately looking for news of George. Amy through George's brother Frederick tries to convince the Minister of War of the Martian menace and strong action needs to be taken against them.
The clunkiness in the writing shows when everyone heads towards the coast and are miraculously reunited. The story then tails off too much after that.
When we see the Martian tripod, the special effects are good but we do not see enough of them. This is supposed to be the war of the worlds but here done a bit on the cheap.
