The hate for each of these projects has gained as much of a cult following as the shows themselves. But how much of it is justified?
Here are seven shows that are much better than critics and audiences say they are.
7. Imposters (2017)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 93%
Where to watch: Prime Video, Fandango at Home
The list begins with Imposters, a well-crafted dark comedy about a con artist who seduces victims and takes their money, which, unlike many of the following shows, is currently receiving warm reviews. Unfortunately, the ratings were so low at the time of its release that the show was canceled after only two seasons.
6. Dark Matter (2015)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 89%
Where to watch: The CW
Dark Matter is often compared to a low-budget rip-off of The Expanse since both premiered in 2015. However, the show in question raised equally interesting ethical questions about the identity of the protagonists, and coupled with some good action scenes,...

Ensign Ro Laren (Michelle Forbes) first appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Ensign Ro", and she introduced an interesting character dynamic to the series. Whereas most of the characters on "Next Generation" were wholly devoted to Starfleet principals and unwaveringly loyal to Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Ensign Ro felt that Starfleet frequently let suffering go unacknowledged. She was combative and disobedient as a result, often openly defying her captain and responding to diplomatic solutions with belligerence.
Forbes' performance was so assured and defiant, however, that Ro's disobedience never felt impulsive or immature. Her reactions were organic and principled, revealing a hardened but understandable heart. Ro only appeared in eight episodes of "Next Generation," but she was always welcome to shake up the system and offer metaphorical headbutts to her commanding officers.
Ro's final "Next Generation" episode was "Preemptive Strike" wherein she found herself sympathizing with a group...

Barton Cowperthwaite, known for his role in Netflix’s ballet drama series Tiny Pretty Things, shared in a heartfelt Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Accompanied by photos of himself alongside what appeared to be his Ct scans, Cowperthwaite shared the details of his condition.
In the caption of his post, he began, “So… Yesterday I received a diagnosis of at least a stage 2 Glioma.”
Cowperthwaite explained that the tumor is a considerable size and originates in the brain itself, and does not spread from cancer elsewhere in the body. Cowperthwaite’s note was lengthy and provided further insight into his situation.
Cowperthwaite continued, “Docs so far have been confident that they’ll be able to remove most of the tumor, and that after a successful operation, and some rehab, I will be operating like my self. That being said it seems like scans and...

Exclusive: Republic Pictures has snapped up rights to The Image of You, a recently wrapped thriller starring Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) in dual roles. Pic is set for release via Paramount Global Content Distribution at a date that hasn’t been disclosed.
Parker Young (United States of Al), Nestor Carbonell (The Morning Show), Michele Nordin (Justified) and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino (Shining Vale) also star in the film from Mpca — an adaptation of the same-name novel from UK-based bestseller Adele Parks MBE, which Jeff Fisher (Killer Movie) directs from a script by Chris Sivertson (Monstrous).
The first project to emerge from a multi-picture deal between Mpca and Parks, The Image of You has Pieterse playing identical twins Anna and Zoe, who share a bond so close that nothing — and no one — can tear them apart. While Anna is romantic and trusting, her sister Zoe is daring and dangerous.

Another new series from Norman Lear is coming to Netflix, but this time around the King of Sitcoms is tackling drama. The streaming service has greenlit “The Corps,” the working title of a new comedy-drama starring Vera Farmiga, Miles Heizer, Max Parker and Liam Oh.
Set in the 1990s, the drama will follow Cameron (Heizer), a high school student who is bullied for being gay. He decides to join the Marine Corps along with his straight best friend Ray (Oh) during a time when being gay in the military could mean jail time. The 10-episode series is inspired by the memoir “The Pink Marine” by Greg Cope White.
Prior to “The Corps,” Heizer is best known for starring in “13 Reasons Why” as Alex Standell. He’s also starred in “Nerves” as well as “Rails and Ties.” He will be joined by “The Departed” and “The Many Saints of Newark” star Farmiga,...

The third season of Star Trek: Picard continues to be a reunion tour for ’90s Star Trek characters. We’ve already had most of the cast from The Next Generation, and even secondary character Ro Laren shockingly appeared in episode 5, “Imposters.” We also have Worf, who technically can also represent Deep Space Nine, as well as the Changelings.
But what about Voyager? In addition to bringing Seven of Nine into the main cast, Picard finally gives Voyager its due with a cameo from Tim Russ as the Vulcan Tuvok. Remember Mr. Vulcan? He’s back! In Changeling form!
Tim Russ Returns as Captain Tuvok
While Voyager remains a divisive show among fans, most agree that Russ’ performance as Tuvok is one of the highlights. Over the seven seasons of Voyager, Tuvok established himself as the ultimate Vulcan, a devotee of his people’s emphasis on logic,...

When Star Trek: Picard’s first few episodes came out, it looked like we were in for yet another round of repeated references to The Wrath of Khan. The opening text “In the 25th century…” was a follow-up to Khan’s “In the 23rd century,” Dr. Crusher wears a jacket that looks very much like the away mission jackets from that film, and, of course, the whole season is following the story of Picard’s meeting with his estranged son. The reference to Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru in the title of episode 4, “No Win Scenario,” has our Wrath of Khan bingo card completely filled out.
However, as this year’s adventure has progressed, it’s become clear that season 3 is – thank goodness – more than just another re-tread of the best but also most over-referenced Star Trek movie. We’ve already talked about...

It seems that this moment was inevitable.
For the first five episodes of the third season of "Star Trek: Picard," the showrunners have shown a great deal of restraint. The central cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was poised to reunite, but so far the story has taken precedence, with recognizable legacy characters slowly and organically entering the fray. Indeed, for a spell, it appeared only Picard, Riker, and Dr. Crusher were going to reunite while Worf (Michael Dorn) took care of the show's B-plot with Raffi (Michelle Hurd). The previous episode, "Imposters," even threw in a notable cameo for Cmdr. Ro (Michelle Forbes), an unexpected surprise.
With "The Bounty," the showrunners slammed their collective foot down onto the nostalgia accelerator pedal, charging headlong and shamelessly into a vat of warm sticky toffee pudding. This episode will hastily bring in three NextGen cast members, not all of them organically.

When most people think about the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Picard, Riker, Geordi La Forge, Worf, Beverly Crusher, and Data immediately come to mind. They might even think of some of the side characters, like Wesley Crusher and Chief Miles O’Brien, the latter of which went on to play a much bigger role on Deep Space Nine. This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Picard season 3 is now halfway through its daring new story. And like previous installments, “Imposters” does not shy away from the preexisting Star Trek universe. Connections to existing canon run very deep in an hour that not only brings back a surprise The Next Generation alum but also deepens lore from Deep Space Nine.
From a very familiar face from the past to some classic sound effects and more, “Imposters” keeps the easter eggs coming at warp speed. Here are the best callbacks and deep cuts we found in the episode:
Classic “Bridge Sounds”
The episode begins with what sounds like the 1960s classic Enterprise bridge beeps and boops. One might think this is out of place for the 25th century starships of Picard, but showrunner Terry Matalas has clarified that the Starfleet of this era is in a retro period when it comes to design.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 5
Now that the U.S.S. Titan has successfully escaped the existential threat of death in a gravity well (and completed a truly outstanding quasi-two-parter in “Seventeen Seconds” and “No Win Scenario”), Star Trek: Picard slows down a bit. “Imposters” is an hour that is, admittedly, mostly table setting for the back half of the season, as the show moves various pieces into place to finally bring its disparate plots together. Yet, because Picard seems to have learned—at long last—that it’s at its best when it’s wrestling not just with the broader legacy of The Next Generation, but the way that legacy has impacted the lives of others, the episode is still more emotionally compelling than any installment that’s predominantly about Changeling physiology has any right to be.

The strongest element of the new season of "Star Trek: Picard" is, to perhaps reiterate a previous review, pacing. For every starship battle, there are a few quiet moments of introspection wherein characters are permitted to converse, to philosophize, to reveal things about their characters to indicate that they have undergone growth since their appearances in older Trek shows. "Picard," while crammed with incidents, isn't operating in panic mode, meting out its information in a palatable way. In the fifth episode, "Imposters," Picard (Patrick Stewart), Capt. Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), and Capt. Shaw, have discovered there are Changelings on board the U.S.S. Titan-A, and that the villainous shapeshifting aliens have something to do with the apprehension of Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers).
While the characters investigate and converse, the Titan is under repairs from its battle with the Shrike in the previous two episodes,...

In simpler times, an artist could see album sales spike to over 500,000 in the days after a Grammy Awards broadcast appearance. That was Santana’s experience in 2000. Following a performance on the show and eight Grammy wins, “Supernatural” flew off the shelves — a gold certification from one key look.

How far down the rabbit hole is Dex going to fall? Read on through our review as we discuss.
Dex is spiraling.
After the midseason finale and Sue Lynn's blunt advisement to get it together, it seemed like Dex was going to try to turn over a new leaf.
Even during Stumptown Season 1 Episode 10, it really appeared like Dex was going to hold it together through Ansel leaving.
Dex isn't as strong as she likes to pretend she is, though.
Ansel is the glue that holds the fibers of Dex's being together. Without him, Dex can't help but fall apart.
Throughout Stumptown Season 1, we have seen the effect that Dex's time overseas...
