Starting this particular June weekend of Pride events off with a bang was Friday night’s first annual Critics Choice Association’s Celebration Of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television, an awards gala that packed the main ballroom of L.A.’s Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel with each table’s settings sporting a rainbow pride flag among other festival decorations. The lively event brought out a host of honorees and starry presenters delivering lots of stirring and heartfelt remarks. Comedian and Actress Sherry Cola hosted the expertly paced presentation.

Exclusive: Change is afoot at Funny or Die, Deadline has learned, with Kathy Goodman now to serve as CEO of the esteemed comedy studio.
After serving as Senior Advisor to owner Henry R. Muñoz III since his acquisition of the company several years back, Goodman steps into the role of Mike Farah, who soon will depart Funny or Die after a run of more than 15½ years. Also departing is Joe Farrell, who has been with the company for nearly 13 years, serving as Chief Creative Officer for the past few.
While transitioning out of their current executive roles, Farah and Farrell will remain executive producers on After Midnight, CBS’s recently launched late-night game show hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, and continue to produce the slate of projects they’ve created. Michelle Rosette remains aboard as CFO, with the search for a new Chief Comedy Officer in charge of development in its final stages.

Many awards ceremonies champion themselves as stepping stones to the Oscars, but the Producers Guild of America Awards — to be presented Feb. 25 at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom — have an enviable track record to support the claim. The winner of the PGA’s top prize, the Darryl F. Zanuck Award, has matched the Oscar winner for best picture for 15 of the last 20 years, and 24 of the 33 years since the first ceremony in 1990.
For Donald De Line, a studio exec turned producer who serves as PGA president alongside Stephanie Allain, the guild’s track record adds to the anticipation surrounding the pre-Oscar kudofest. “Part of the fun is the horse race and the excitement of it all,” he says.
This year, the 10 Zanuck nominees are a 100% match for those on the Oscar ballot for best picture, and the event falls in the middle of final voting for the Academy Awards.

Brad Pitt is in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino’s 10th and supposedly final film The Movie Critic, even as one scene from the actor’s past continues to leave fans bewildered. The scene in question comes from the 1998 fantasy drama Meet Joe Black, in which Pitt’s character talks in patois in the hospital, fans have pointed out the “absurd” accent. Fans have derided the sequence as “absurd” for decades.
Did The 1998 Fantasy Flop Derail Brad Pitt’s Momentum? Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black
In Meet Joe Black, Brad Pitt plays a manifestation of Death experiencing life in a human form. But there is this scene where he speaks patois, the scene after almost 25 years is still considered as “one of the funniest, most absurd.” Here are a few fan reactions to the scene:
Watched Meet Joe Black the other night and absolutely lost it when Brad Pitt starts speaking patois.

CBS debuted its newest late-night show last night and the numbers are.
After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, was watched by an average of 686,000 viewers in the 12:37am hour, per Nielsen’s live+same day fast national data.
This compares to The Late Late Show with James Corden’s live+same day average of 806,000 for its final season.
Some caveats, the data does not yet include viewing from out-of-home, which will be available on Friday, most of the networks only really pay attention to the live+3 numbers, and it was After Midnight’s debut show. It will be interesting to see whether the game show format gets a bigger jump in delayed viewing than a traditional late-night show, which is slightly more topical.
After Midnight was up 31% across all viewers compared to the time period over the season, where Comics Unleashed has often aired while CBS waited to debut The Late Late Show replacement.

After Midnight finally made its debut January 16 in the timeslot formerly held by James Corden.
Hosted by comedian Taylor Tomlinson, the show is a reboot of the old Comedy Central game show @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes on the sibling Paramount-owned network. For those who didn’t see the original version, imagine a combination of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? and Tosh 2.0: it’s an internet-themed panel game show that challenges comedians to come up with the best yuks during a series of improv games.
For the premiere, Whitney Cummings battled it out against Aparna Nancherla (former writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers) and Kurt Braunohler (former host of IFC’s Bunk) in front of a studio audience for the grand prize of “my father’s approval,” quipped Tomlinson. “It is rare but winnable.”

CBS kicks off a new era in late-night on Tuesday, January 16, when it launches “After Midnight” at 12:37 a.m. hosted by comic Taylor Tomlinson.
The series, which will rely on a rotating series of panelists to discuss the latest trends and memes in the digi-sphere, will follow an original hour of CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
“After Midnight,” based on the premise of “@midnight,” a program that ran on Comedy Central between 2013 and 2017,” breaks late-night tradition at CBS, which has long depended on a more typical program after 12:30 a.m. But network executives, realizing that the business of wee-hours TV is in flux, canceled “The Late Late Show” that has run for decades in that slot, hosted by people such as Tom Snyder, Craig Kilborn, Craig Ferguson and James Corden. “After Midnight” is said to cost significantly less to produce — a boon in an era when...

Nearly nine months after James Corden said goodbye to The Late Late Show, CBS has finally dated his replacement.
After Midnight, a reboot of the old Comedy Central game show @midnight, starring rising comedian Taylor Tomlinson, will premiere on Tuesday, January 16.
The show will, of course, air in The Late Late Show’s former spot at 12:37am, following The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
It comes almost a year after Deadline revealed that a reboot of @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes on the sibling Paramount-owned network, would replace Corden.
Tomlinson, who has recorded a number of Netflix specials, won the hosting job at the end of last year, beating X Mayo and Ricky Velez for the gig.
Jack Martin, who was the showrunner of all four seasons of @midnight, will serve as co-showrunner alongside Eric Pierce, who has exec produced series including CBS’ The Challenge: USA and The Wheel.

Welcome to My Favorite Scene! In this series, IndieWire speaks to actors behind a few of our favorite television performances about their personal-best onscreen moment and how it came together.
Daniel Radcliffe is no stranger to stunt work.
The “Harry Potter” star has racked up a fascinating filmography since graduating from the Wizarding World in 2011, from multiple Broadway musicals to TBS’s “Miracle Workers” to the Daniels’ infamous “Swiss Army Man” — all of which demand comedic versatility but have only sporadically called upon his extensive experience in blockbuster franchise action. The same was true of Eric Appel’s “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” — until one major fight scene filmed in just over four hours.
“If we were on ‘Potter,’ we might have spent a week doing that scene,” the actor told IndieWire via Zoom — to immediate laughter from Appel.

Could this be the big break he's been waiting for? According to Deadline, the currently untitled show is based on an idea by Riggle himself and it will be a single camera comedy written by McKay and Henchy. Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) is a simple man. A rancher on the land of his father (Miguel Ernesto played by Pedro Armendariz Jr.), Alvarez and his friends Esteban (Efren Ramirez) and Manuel (Adrian Martinez) tend to the cattle, ride around in a pickup truck, and live a fairly idyllic life in the beautiful countryside. Way back in April, a mysterious promo trailer for Will Ferrell's upcoming Spanish-language comedy Casa de mi Padre found its way online. At the time, no one really knew what to make of it... was it a comedy that just happened to be in Spanish or was there something more to it? It has since become clear that it's at least partially a parody of Spanish telenovelas, although it seems to be so committed to the idea that it almost doesn't look like a parody anymore. A new domestic teaser trailer has hit the web this week, and it is short but stylish. I have no idea how Will Ferrell's usual audience will feel about watching an entire film with subtitles, but this is something different and fresh for Ferrell and for that reason alone I'm pretty excited. Paramount has set a date for its Josh Schwartz-directed horror comedy Fun Size, and rather than sit on it, we figured we'd share! We're okay like that, ya dig?
Look for the flick in theatres on October 12, 2012.
Fun Size stars Thomas Middleditch ("Funny or Die Presents..."), Riki Lindhome (Last House on the Left), Thomas McDonell (Dark Shadows, Prom), Osric Chau (2012), Jackson Nicoll (The Fighter), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Ana Gasteyer, Josh Pence, Holmes Osborne, James Pumphrey, Willam Belli, Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, Victoria Justice, Thomas Mann, and Jane Levy and is described as a cross between Superbad and Adventures in Babysitting on Halloween night.
The comedic script, by "Colbert Report" scribe Max Werner, centers on a sarcastic teenage girl (Justice) who is forced to take her little brother trick-or-treating on Halloween, then loses him and must find him before their mother finds out.
