No one knows how to do a locker room scene quite like Sex/Life. Jaws dropped in Season 1 when Cooper (Mike Vogel) gets an unexpected eyeful of Brad (Adam Demos) during a little gym reconnaissance mission in Episode 3. After a very, um, direct peek at a nude Brad, Cooper suddenly understands why his wife Billie (Sarah Shahi) can’t shake her ex.
You didn’t think Sex/Life would overlook one of its greatest strengths in Season 2, did you? In the season finale, Cooper is back in a locker room — but in a very different mental state. He’s hit rock bottom in response to his breakup with Billie and finally made strides to better his life. Unfortunately, Cooper’s journey to self-improvement did include an unfortunate accident with best friend Devon (Jonathan Sadowski) that ended with a sex worker biting off Devon’s genitals.

The final scene of Sex/Life Season 2 might feel familiar. Or, at least, it should. A nearly identical one occurs in the cold open of the season premiere.
But, let’s start with the ending: Episode 6 culminates with a beaming Billie (Sarah Shahi), walking down the aisle for the second time. But, she’s not in a church or a millennial-friendly vineyard. Billie is barefoot at the beach, walking toward on-again, off-again love interest Brad (Adam Demos), who is finally ready to be her permanently-on partner. “I’m pregnant,” she whispers to him, bringing a broad smile to his face.
And that’s when the déjà vu descends, because all this happened before, in Season 2, Episode 1. In a trio of opening shots in the premiere, Billie walks along the sand, wears a wedding dress and enjoys a sunny morning with Brad — and their three kids. Although this seemed like a...

Shoots, da kine “Rescue Hi-Surf” is one lucky TV show, brah. Fox just gave it the cherry timeslot after Super Bowl Lix on Feb. 9, 2025. That’s a big vote of confidence for the freshman drama, which is set to premiere this fall on Monday nights at 9 p.m. Et, after “9-1-1: Lone Star.”
Although the impact of the Super Bowl lead-out has varied over the years, it proved to be a huge boon this year to CBS, which launched “Tracker” after Super Bowl Lviii on Feb. 11 and watched that drama turn into a big hit. The last time Fox aired the Super Bowl, in 2023, it ran an episode of its hit food competition series “Next Level Chef.” And in 2020, Fox aired an episode of another unscripted program, “The Masked Singer.”

A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production in 2022 with director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) at the helm. Before Bassett signed on, the project had passed through the hands of directors Robert Rodriguez, Simon West, Bryan Singer, and Joey Soloway, with Hannah John-Kamen, Rose McGowan, and Amber Heard being considered for the lead role. Matilda Lutz ended up starring in the film, and while we still don’t know when we’ll get to see her version of the title character in action, she did talk about the making of the film (and the metal bikini she had to wear in it) during an interview with Collider.
Lutz said she had a great experience working on Red Sonja, getting the chance to do stunts and horseback riding, to work with Bassett. She added, “What I think is different from what we know...

Netflix released a huge amount of streaming data Tuesday — viewing totals for more than 18,000 movies and seasons of TV for the first half of 2023.
Taken as a whole, it’s almost an overwhelming amount of information that speaks to Netflix’s ability to engage its huge subscriber base (just under 239 million for the end of the period covered in the data dump) — and maybe not a ton more? The stats presented are for total hours viewed, which is how Netflix measures engagement across its portfolio — but it’s also not the metric the streamer uses to order its weekly top 10 lists. For those, it uses the “view” formula of total watch time divided by running time, which somewhat levels the playing field for films and series with shorter run times. (And there are, of course, economic factors and other metrics that influence decision-making that the company will continue to keep in house.

Television is notorious for its unpredictable outcomes. Some series achieve instant acclaim, while others fade into obscurity.
The question of why some series take a second season to catch on is increasingly compelling as streamers seem readier than ever to ax underperforming new shows. But could that mean missing out on the next hot show? The latest example is Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” After a solid debut, its second season saw an explosive 250% growth in demand.
For every “Summer,” though, there’s a first-season hit that flops in its sophomore season. The most striking illustration of this is “Tiger King,” which saw its demand plummet by 67% in its second season.

While the series was canceled after Season 2 in April 2023, it wasn’t the end of the road for Shahi and Demos. The American actor and her Aussie colleague continue to forge a life together away from the screen. Sex/Life revolves around Shahi’s character, a suburban mother of two caught between her married...

The other pilots that won’t move forward to series include the medical drama “The Hurt Unit,” starring Benjamin McKenzie and Melissa George, the Ellie Kemper-led comedy “Keeping It Together” and “Judgement” with “Sex/Life” star Sarah Shahi.
ABC Signature will shop “The Hurt Unit” to other platforms and 20th Television will try to find new homes for “Public Defenders” and “Judgement,” Deadline reported.

ABC is passing on its pilots.
The network has passed on Anthony Anderson-fronted Public Defenders and Ellie Kemper-led Keeping It Together, which is a remake of British comedy Motherland, as well as dramas The Hurt Unit, starring Melissa George and Ben McKenzie, and Judgement starring Sex/Life’s Sarah Shahi.
ABC Signature is, however, planning to shop The Hurt Unit to other networks and platforms, while 20th Television will be shopping Public Defenders and Judgement.
The move comes as it still has decisions to make on series Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds as well as The Good Lawyer, which was a backdoor pilot spinoff of The Good Doctor.
Last month, ABC handed a series order to Drew Goddard’s pilot High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson. The project, which is based on the popular French detective series Hip, was the clear front-runner all development season.

For a good number of writers in Hollywood, this WGA strike is not their first one. TheWrap spoke with four writer-producers who marched on the picket lines back in 2007 and who have created and written for some of the most popular shows of the past quarter-century, and they say that they’re more concerned for future writers than themselves.
“I was also involved in the 1988 strike, and my biggest memory from that was a rally in Century City, and there was an elderly man in a wheelchair who was a writer on ‘The Lucy Show,'” said Marta Kauffman, co-creator of “Friends” and “Grace and Frankie.”

Australian actor Adam Demos has finally addressed speculation around a particularly steamy shower in the Netflix drama series Sex/Life.
Demos emphasized that he never expected the scene, which showed the actor with an exceptionally large endowment, to get as much attention as it has, saying that “when you’re shooting these things you don’t think they’re going to be a viral moment,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

Pedro Pascal has become a household name in Hollywood, but in the early years of his career, he went by another moniker.
Years before the Chilean-American actor, whose latest roles in HBO’s hugely successful apocalyptic series The Last of Us and the Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian shot him to worldwide fame, he was booking small TV roles under his birth name, Pedro Balmaceda.
It was after the sudden death of his mother by suicide in 2000 – when he was 24 years old – that he decided to go by her maiden name Pascal professionally, to honour her, revealed the now 48-year-old actor in a new interview with Esquire.
“And also, because Americans had such a hard time pronouncing Balmaceda,” he said in an earlier interview with Variety. “It was exhausting.”

The first trailer for the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film The Marvels has been released online.
A sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, the film also stars Samuel L Jackson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris.
However, while Marvel fans have praised the trailer itself, the footage also confirmed what many had already suspected: there’s going to be a lot of homework to do.
In the trailer, Carol Danvers (Larson) and Nic Cage (Jackson) can be seen interacting with Kamala Khan (Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Parris).
However, while Larson and Jackson both starred in the original Captain Marvel (and elsewhere in the MCU), Vellani and Parris have never appeared in any MCU films.
Rather, Parris’s character was introduced in the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision, playing a supporting role opposite Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. The series covered her character’s backstory, and explained the origins of her powers.

The writers of Succession used an amusing secret code to keep the big twist in the latest episode under wraps.

The episode, which debuted on HBO in the US on Sunday night (9 April) – and on Monday on Sky and Now in the UK – shocked viewers when its central character, the twisted media mogul Logan Roy (Brian Cox), was suddenly killed off.
On Twitter, writer Georgia Pritchett revealed that the writer’s room was tasked with keeping the death a secret after the plotline was first agreed upon in January 2022.
As a means of disguising the twist, they would substitute the phrase “Logan dies” with the words “Larry David”.
David, the co-creator of Seinfeld, is a figure often associated with HBO, thanks to his long-running sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm.

It is not clear what exactly Dimbleby’s role would have entailed, but it signals a shift from tradition: his father Richard covered the funeral of George VI in 1952 and Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation the following year.

Ali Wong has explained the significance of the sex scenes in Netflix’s new thriller Beef.
Released on the streaming service last week, Beef follows the spiralling consequences of a road rage altercation between Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) and Amy Lau (Wong).
Minor spoilers follow for Beef – you have been warned!
Part of the series focuses on Amy’s unhappy marriage, which starts to strain as her grudge against Danny intensifies. At one point, her character is shown having an extramarital sexual encounter with an older man.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Wong opened up about the meaning of the scene.
“It’s just that Amy has a lot of shame about… When she says in the finale, ‘I don’t want anybody to see me’ – you know, so many people desperately want to be seen, and she’s like, ‘Oh, no, I really don’t want people to see me’,” said the actor and comedian.

Vic Reeves has admitted that he “never really speaks” to comedy partner Bob Mortimer.
The pair met in 1986, forming their comedy double act Vic and Bob, best known for their wacky panel show Shooting Stars.
However, in a new interview with the Radio Times, Reeves – whose real name is Jim Moir – admitted that he and Mortimer are rarely in contact.
“We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone,” he said.
“[I’ll] see him now and then and have a chat about things.”
In recent years, Reeves has focused on painting, releasing his artwork under his real name.
However, he has often noted the link between art and comedy, saying that art, to him, is “just for laughs”.
“I’ve done straight drawings and paintings and things and I haven’t got as much pleasure out of them as if I’d done...

MasterChef has returned for its 19th season on BBC One – with a small but significant tweak to the rules.
The competitive cooking series, starring John Torode and Gregg Wallace, sees a group of aspiring chefs battle it out for the culinary crown.
Near the beginning of Monday night’s (10 April) episode, the two judges informed the chefs that they would wait outside the kitchen while their dishes were being prepared.
Wallace and Torode would then sample each competitor’s dish from a separate dining room.
“You’ll have one hour and 20 minutes to cook your dish,” Torode explained to the candidates. “Our MasterChef floor manager will be keeping you to time.”
In previous seasons, the judges were allowed access to the kitchen in order to inform contestants of their remaining time, announcing at the end that their time is up.
On social media, fans of the show complained that this role has now been outsourced,...

For two seasons now, housewife Billie (Sarah Shahi) has been slowly losing the life she once knew in favor of chasing the high of her sexually adventurous youth. In Netflix's "Sex/Life," Billie finds herself torn between her reliable husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), and Brad (Adam Demos), the hunky Australian ex who wanders back into her life. Later, when the romantic house of cards she's built tumbles down completely, she ends up hooked on a new man, restaurant owner Majid (Darius Homayoun). "Sex/Life" definitely isn't Netflix's best show, but plenty of fans still like the "Sex and The City"-style series because it's a reliably steamy adult-oriented romance.
Apparently, though, Billie's wild ride has come to an end. Variety is reporting that the Stacy Rukeyser-created show "Sex/Life" has been canceled after just two seasons. Luckily, though, the show actually wrapped up most of its major plotlines in its latest season finale.

A US judge has granted Alec Baldwin permission not to appear in court for the preliminary hearing relating to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin and armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed have pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the 2021 death of Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.
The cinematographer died after being hit with a live round fired from a prop gun held by Baldwin.
During the two-week preliminary hearing, due to begin on 3 May, it will be decided whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
A waiver of appearance was filed by Baldwin and his legal team, and approved by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer on Monday.
“I understand that I am charged with the following offence or offences under the law of the State of New Mexico: Involuntary Manslaughter … in two alternatives,” the filing read.
