Wilmer Valderrama is attached to star in and executive produce a live-action “Zorro” series that is in development at Disney Branded Television.
In “Zorro,” Valderrama would star as Don Diego de la Vega and his swashbuckling alter ego, the masked horseman known as Zorro, in the days of Spanish California.
The show is a reimagining of the Disney-abc “Zorro” series starring Guy Williams that aired in the 1950s. That show also starred Gene Sheldon, George J. Lewis, and Henry Calvin. It aired for 78 episodes between 1957 and 1959, with four hour-long episodes airing in the early 1960s.
“We’re reimagining this Disney classic as a compelling period piece, set in Pueblo de Los Angeles, but told in a very modern telenovela style — with richly drawn contemporary characters and relationships set against the action, drama, suspense and humor of the original, iconic Zorro,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “Wilmer shares...

Wilmer Valderrama, who stars in Fox’s new sci-fi drama Minority Report, is a name that resounds with audiences of different demographics, thanks to the many different projects he has been a part of during his career, from his breakout role as Fez in That ’70s Show to voicing the main character in the animated series Handy Manny to his most recent role as Carlos Madrigal in From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. Now, though, Valderrama will be tackling an all-new character in Minority Report, playing Will Blake in Fox’s adaptation of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 film. This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to speak with Valderrama during a conference call with other entertainment reporters, where he discussed Minority Report, his heritage, his career so far, and what’s still to come. Minority Report takes place in the year 2065 and therefore, as a futuristic show, showcases an array of advanced technology.

Fans of quality sitcoms know what a force Damon Wayans Jr. can be. He made a splash in the pilot for the Fox series "The New Girl," but had to leave when another show he appeared on, "Happy Endings" (for ABC) got picked up as well. "Happy Endings" ran on ABC for the next few years and a small, dedicated few (myself included) applauded it for being one of the best shows on television, an utterly surreal spin on the classic "Friends" tropes (at one point a character even drunkenly points out the similarities to "Friends"). When "Happy Endings" was unceremoniously canceled, Wayans returned to "The New Girl" as the character he played in the pilot. The universe was balancing itself.
As far as his big-screen outings go, Wayans is also making inroads. This past summer he starred in the raunchy R-rated comedy "Let's Be Cops," which ended up being a surprise smash.

Wilmer Valderrama is best known for his role as the loveable Fez on the popular sitcom "That '70s Show." But these days the half-Venezuelan, half-Colombian actor spends most of his time behind the camera, as the creator and executive producer of a new reality competition called "King of the Floor." The new series, which airs on NuevOn, a new YouTube channel created by Electus, allows audiences a rarely seen glimpse into the world of underground break-dancing.

Los Angeles — A pig-tailed girl whose favorite accessory is a pink stethoscope has become a symbol of pride and hope for black women in medicine and the daughters they want to inspire.
Doc McStuffins, the African-American title character of an animated TV series for children, dreams of becoming an M.D. and, for now, runs a cheerful home clinic for stuffed animals and dolls.
"I haven't lost a toy yet!" Doc exclaims as she hugs a blue dinosaur in need of attention.
For Dr. Myiesha Taylor, who watches Disney Channel's "Doc McStuffins" with her 4-year-old, Hana, the show sends a much-needed message to minority girls about how big their ambitions can be.
"It's so nice to see this child of color in a starring role, not just in the supporting cast. It's all about her," Taylor said. "And she's an aspiring intellectual professional, not a singer or dancer or athlete.

TV star Wilmer Valderrama has played down rumours he's romancing actress Minka Kelly, insisting they're just good friends.
The former That '70s Show actor has been photographed out with Kelly on several occasions in recent weeks, and the pair was allegedly seen kissing and dancing together during a night out at West Hollywood's Greystone Manor Supperclub last weekend.
A source told UsMagazine.com, "They were kissing and grinding," adding, "I wouldn't say they're boyfriend and girlfriend, but he's started ignoring calls from some of his other girls."
But Valderrama, who split from singer/actress Demi Lovato in January, brushed off the reports during a Los Angeles radio interview with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday.
When asked about the love claims, Valderrama adopted his cartoon voice for his Disney Junior show Handy Manny and said, "Well, Minka Kelly and Wilmer Valderrama have been friends for a long time and that's all there is to it."
The actor, who has voiced the Hispanic handyman character since 2006, has also previously dated Mandy Moore and Lindsay Lohan. Kelly, the star of the failed TV revamp of Charlie's Angels, parted ways with baseball ace Derek Jeter last year.

Wilmer Valderrama has laughed about rumors that he is dating Minka Kelly. Speculation that the couple have a romantic relationship has emerged in recent days after they were photographed together. Valderrama has now been surprised by a question about Kelly while appearing on Ryan Seacrest's Kiis-fm radio show. Valderrama was answering questions in character as Handy Manny from his Disney television show when a young fan called Hazel asked: "Handy Manny, are you dating Minka Kelly?" (more)...

As I was sitting here thinking of what to write about this week, I suddenly heard an annoying voice coming through my television. A bossy, pushy rabbit voice, that belongs to none other than Ruby, from Max and Ruby. This got my thoughts going to how sad it is that our children don't have the same television shows we had growing up. As a parent I find today's offerings for children's programming to be lacking the same appeal as the shows we all watched in our youth.
Let's use Max and Ruby for an example, because that show makes no sense whatsoever. Ruby is the older sister, of Max, and from what we can tell they are both under 10. They don't appear to have parents, yet there are photos on the wall of them. Ruby takes the bus, does laundry, bakes, all the while bossing Max around. Max is as naughty as they come,...

In honor of Mila Kunis doing, well, anything at all but, more specifically, getting partially naked in this week's Friends With Benefits, I figured we'd take a quick glance around at the former cast of "That '70s Show" and see who the big winner from the series really is. A few years ago, the obvious (and regrettable) frontrunner would be Ashton Kutcher, who has now transformed himself into a Twitter star, not a movie star. And rightfully so.
So here are the highlights of the show's major players and a brief listing of what each one of them has been doing since the show wound down in 2006. In most cases, the lists are neither lengthy nor notable. Still, let's start off with the former frontrunner turned douche, shall we?
Ashton Kutcher (as Michael Kelso): What Happens in Vegas; Valentine's Day; Killers; No Strings Attached.

We all know the beloved characters, but what about the voices behind the animation? Movie Fanatic got a chance to catch up with the talent behind Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Rabbit.
Winnie the Pooh hits theaters Friday, July 15, 2011.
Jim Cummings has been doing the iconic voice of Pooh since 1987 and Tigger since 2000, taking over from Sterling Holloway and Paul Winchell. Those are both very big shoes to fill and Cummings knows how important it is to get the voices just right. But can he do it? Listen below and decide for yourself!
Many Pooh fans know and love the original Pooh from the infamous shorts - all voiced by Sterling Holloway. But can people notice any difference? Well he's been doing it since the '80s and many of the Pooh voices you hear is actually him anyway.
So how did Cummings get such a coveted gig?

There aren't many options this holiday season that come with the kind of guaranteed results you can expect from the Elf Ultimate Collector's Edition. Available with Blu-Ray or Standard DVD, the set brings you the already classic holiday film with an assortment of goodies that are sure to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Easily among Will Ferrell's best work, and popular enough that it is now on Broadway, the story of Buddy's misadventures has won over audiences year after year, and the touching and hilarious film shows no signs of slowing down in its takeover of the holiday season.
I think the film itself needs no real introduction at this point, but the special features and Collector's Edition goodies come together to make a great collection, and one that is undeniably worth owning. The disc itself has a nice selection of featurettes, as well as a Fast Track...

At the 25th annual Imagen Awards, which celebrate the achievements of Latinos in television, America Ferrara picked up her third award for her work on "Ugly Betty" as reported by the La Times. Of course, it was a bittersweet moment, since Ferrara's Betty made her final appearance last April.
"I'm going to try and not cry right now," Ferrara said through her tears as she accepted the award. When someone shouted that he was sad from the audience, Ferrara agreed. "Me too. I just love her. I love the show. It was a period of my life that was just magical."
Not that she's concerned. "I'm not afraid I'm not going to work again. That's not why I'm crying," she clarified.
See below for a full list of the winners, announced Sunday, August 15 at the Beverly Hilton.

America Ferrera has taken home her fourth trophy from Imagen Awards. At the 25th annual awards recognizing positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino culture in entertainment, the Betty Suarez of "Ugly Betty" has bested over Selena Gomez and Sofia Vergara among others for the title of Best Actress in Television.
Though she didn't walk home empty handed, the 26-year-old who has once won an Imagen kudo for her role in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" still has to give up hope of pairing her TV trophy with the Best Actress in Movie title. Nominated for each of her role in "Our Family Wedding" and "The Dry Land", she was beaten by Ana de la Reguera of "Backyard" for the latter kudo.

As the film reaches theaters, Valderrama talked to FilmCritic to discuss his volunteer work with the Uso, Jane Austen, and his upcoming collaboration with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.Q: Did you have any reservations about working with a first-time filmmaker, especially one who is a few months younger than you are? A: [Laughs] No, man, because Ryan Williams is a movie veteran. He is an incredible guy who wrote an amazing script. He researched his story and his characters to make it so truthful and as authentic as it can be.Q: Are...

Wilmer Valderrama, former star of 'That '70s Show,' has inked a development and talent agreement with 20th Century Fox Television. According to Deadline Hollywood, the deal will allow Valderrama to star and executive produce at least one series for the studio.

After conquering tweens with the current Disney Channel line-up and even giving the boys some love with the launch of DisneyXD, Disney is now giving preschoolers their own network. Disney is launching Disney Junior, a new network featuring kid-friendly programming 24 hours a day.
In competition with Nick Jr., which showcases their hits like "Dora the Explorer" throughout the day, Disney Junior will feature brand new series, like "Jack and the Never Land Pirates," as well as episodes of its original series currently playing under the Playhouse Disney moniker, like "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Handy Manny."

The move was a major shock, although considering the demise of daytime dramas across the dial -- including the end of 'As the World Turns' this September -- it's likely a sign that the soap opera genre is on the endangered species list.

Public Enemies (Universal) Johnny Depp portrays legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger in co- writer/director Michael Mann’s take on America’s first “Public Enemy Number One.” Like many big studio releases today, Public Enemies has it all: A-list talent before and behind the camera, but lacks a heart or soul that allows its audience to connect with it. Film plays out like a “true crime” TV show with re-enactments of famous events cast with top actors and shot by the best technicians in the business, with little, if any, character or story development to hold it together in between. A real disappointment from one of our finest filmmakers and finest actors. The lone standout: the great character actor Stephen Lang as a hard-eyed lawman who’s seen a lot, but manages to retain a tiny piece of his heart. For a better take on the same subject,...

The family features "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey's Choo Choo Express" and "Handy Manny: Manny's Motorcycle Adventure" are currently available on DVD.
Both released on December 1 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, the pair of children's specials contain material perfect for the holiday season.
"Mickey's Choo Choo Express" focuses on long-time Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck and Goofy helping Professor Von Drake bring a new kind of snow that never melts down from Mistletoe Mountain. As they bring the spirit of winter to people in the middle of summer, they also meet Santa Claus and wife. Alternative rock band They Might Be Giants provide music.
The DVD also includes a bonus adventure with "Mickey's Big Job," in which everyone's favorite mouse agrees to help Willie the Giant while he's out of town, only to find that doing chores for a giant requires a lot of help.

Handy Manny gets a lot of TV time at my house and the hit Disney show is easily the most tolerable. Demonstrating messages of teamwork, being respectful, how to be neighborly and teaching a handful of Spanish words, Handy Manny is far more fun than its Nickelodeon counterpart Dora the Explorer.
In Handy Manny: Motorcycle Adventure, Manny’s first “full length feature,” (and we use the term lightly), Manny and his talking tools head for a family reunion which guarantees that the story will focus on the true meaning of family. En route, Pat the hammer starts to ponder his own family and getting to know other hammers that look like him. Mistaking a logo with a hammer on it as family, Pat, along with a few of his tool pals, accidentally become separated from Manny. But Manny, being the cool cat that he is, takes a detour from...

In a similar world (and animation style) to such characters as Dora, Diego, and Kai-Lan, Handy Manny has come to be a favorite in my household, and perhaps for somewhat difficult to discern reasons. While talking tools may be a bit of a laugh, the continued adventures of a handyman setting off to another job of tightening a few screws is something I would not have guessed would win children over. My abilities to know what kids will like aside, Handy Manny is certainly something you'll be happy your children want to watch, even if you're a bit surprised. In Motorcycle Adventure, the show puts a bit more action into things, as Manny takes to the road to try and make it to a family reunion on time. The show focuses on working together and the importance of helping out, and it's rather hard to argue with such themes.
