The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Snakes on a Plane was Written and Narrated by Mike Holtz, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When you go back and take a look at the movies that were released in 2006, you might think we were all high. I mean some of us were but regardless, everything was so over the top. Eli Roth’s Hostel was tearing off tourists’ clothes while slashing their Achilles’, The Hills Have Eyes remake was gnarly in every way and does anybody remember that really cool but super weird Paul Walker flick Running Scared? We were on some dark stuff back in the mid-2000s. It wasn’t just the horror and action genres, either. Comedies like Grandma’s Boy had a level of wildness to them that you don’t see these days.

Prolific is a massive understatement when it comes to describing producer Samuel L. Jackson, who next stars in The Kill Room, which opens Sept. 29.
Since his debut in indie film Together For Days in 1972, the 74-year-old Jackson has been in more than 100 films that have collectively grossed more than $27 billion, making him the highest-grossing live-action actor of all time as of 2021, according to The Numbers.
In his career, he’s been in some of the most iconic films ever, as well, including Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing (1989), Mo’ Better Blues (1990) and Jungle Fever (1991), Jurassic Park (1993), A Time to Kill (1996), Black Snake Moan (2006), Goodfellas (1990), Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995) and the unforgettable Snakes On A Plane (2006).

Samuel L. Jackson is the highest-grossing actor of all time. The iconic actor, who made his feature film debut in 1972 independent drama Together for Days, has seen his name so far attached to 142 films, which have amassed more than $27 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
The big reason behind the eye-watering figure is Jackson’s frequent appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, wherein he portrays Nick Fury. However, when fans think about the veteran actor, the first character that pops into their mind, more often than not, is Jules. A hitman, who tends to deliver sermons before killing his targets.

It won’t be far-fetched to say, Pulp Fiction is his career-defining stint. Yet, as far as Jackson’s opinion is concerned the 1994 cult classic sits below another crime thriller.

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most highly accomplished actors in all of Hollywood right now, whose roles in films such as Pulp Fiction and Snakes on A Plane helped make him a global phenomenon. Of course, he is more known now for his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that said, he is now being considered a typecast actor by a fan who made an incredibly obvious joke.

With only one weak opening, the weekend box office totals have understandably dropped below any since late June. Have no fear, though: overall performance remains positive.
The same weekend last year managed only a paltry $65 million. The over $115 million that came in this weekend continues the momentum and brings the industry closer to a $4 billion summer — what was seen as an optimistic goal before May is now within view.
If so, the “Barbie” (Warner Bros.)/”Oppenheimer” (Universal) tandem remains the biggest contributing factor. The top two titles (“Oppenheimer” climbed back to #2) notched over 45 percent of the total gross, with both dropping only slightly more than a third in their fourth weekends. Another $33.7 million haul puts Greta Gerwig’s comedy smash up to $526 million domestic, nearing $1.2 billion worldwide. Christopher Nolan’s biopic added another $18.8 million, getting it to $264 million domestic, over $650 million worldwide so far.

Snakes on a Plane, Air Force One, and Red Eye are a few classics that have one thing in common. The major plot of the film transpires in an airplane several thousand feet above the ground. Flight movies are a sub-genre of thriller movies, and 97 Minutes, the new movie by Timo Vuorensola starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin, is another addition to that entertaining list.
The story of the film revolves around the hijacking of Oceanic Flight 420, which only has 97 minutes of fuel left. The hijackers are unaware that they have an Interpol agent in their gang. Nsa Director Hawkins and his team try to exploit this fact to save the lives of the people on the plane as well as avoid a possible nuclear holocaust.

Farcical thriller Cocaine Bear – about a drugged-up bear on the loose – follows in the knowingly naff footsteps of Snakes on a Plane, Sharknado and more
There are some films that feel like a mere addendum to their trailer, and Cocaine Bear is one: an idea that sounds so good and so funny as a quick synopsis that it’s almost immaterial whether the finished film makes much of it or not. Whether or not you’ve seen Elizabeth Banks’s farcical, nominally fact-based thriller, released in cinemas in February, you’re probably aware of its one-line pitch: there’s a bear, you see, that somehow ingests a massive stash of cocaine and goes on an almighty rampage. Chaos ensues. What more do you want from a film?
As it happens, Cocaine Bear is a likably ludicrous romp – ideally suited, now that it’s available on VOD, to a Friday-night watch...

"Iron Man" was released exactly 15 years ago today, meaning that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now a decade and a half hold. But rewinding the clocks to that fateful summer, nobody was using the words "cinematic universe" yet, and most of the superheroes that have dominated the blockbuster space for years nowhere near as well-known to the general public. But thanks to that famous post-credits scene with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury wanting to talk to Tony Stark about the Avengers Initiative, it sure seemed like Marvel had it all planned from the start. Well, they didn't really know what was yet to come, and as evidence of that, Jackson very well could have just ended up making a "Snakes on a Plane" reference instead. Yes, really.
Inverse recently spoke with comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis, who actually wrote the now-legendary credits scene in "Iron Man." The writer...

There are so many different streaming services in play that it’s impossible to keep track of them all, but we find it’s good to at least be aware of what’s *leaving* the ones you’re subscribing to. This way you can make sure to knock things off your list before they’re gone.

The House of Representin’ was reopened at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, as Terry Crews resurrected one of his most famous roles, President Camacho from the cult comedy “Idiocracy,” to announce a party for a fake presidential campaign in 2024.
Back in 2006, Crews appeared in Mike Judge’s comedy about Joe Bauers, an Army corporal deemed the “most average person in the military,” whom along with a sex worker named Rita are selected for a military cryogenic experiment.
When the experiment is forgotten about, the two wake up in the year 2534, where the human race has dumbed itself down to the point that society has collapsed into a barely functioning dystopia on the verge of collapse. With the average Joe now the smartest man on the planet, President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho hires him to his cabinet to solve a drought that is killing America’s food supply.

And why would you? Cocaine Bear perfectly sums up the recently released movie by Elizabeth Banks, but when you choose that title, you’d better deliver. Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden spoke with THR and said that he never once considered giving the movie another title.
“There was never a question in my mind,” Jimmy Warden said. “Why wouldn’t we call it Cocaine Bear? It’s not every day that a title comes your way that describes the movie in two words. You understand exactly what it is and what you want it to be.” I’m reminded of Snakes on a Plane being briefly changed to Pacific Air Flight 121 before Samuel L. Jackson demanded that it be returned to the original title. Thankfully, Cocaine Bear has fared better than Snakes on a Plane.

In 1985, Andrew Thornton, a corrupt lawyer-turned-drug smuggler, dumped packages of cocaine over Georgia before attempting to escape with nearly 80 pounds of the drug strapped to his body. However, the parachute malfunctioned, and Thornton fell to his death in a Georgia resident’s driveway. The rest of the drugs landed in a forest and were consumed by a black bear, who overdosed and died within minutes, eating $20 million worth of the white powder. But what if the bear didn’t die? What if instead, the bear went on a killing rampage, and the lives of some very plain and bland characters crossed paths with the drug-fuelled predator? Well that seems to be the exact question the writers of Cocaine Bear have asked themselves.

Genre regulars Bill Moseley and Lin Shaye have just found their latest horror project to work on – and Shaye is a producer on this one as well! Deadline reports that Moseley and Shaye have signed on to appear in Scared to Death, which will be filming in Los Angeles next month.
Written and directed by Paul Boyd, Scared to Death will tell the story of a group of young filmmakers who enter an abandoned children’s orphanage in order to do research for a movie… and that’s their first mistake.
Scared to Death is coming to us from Mirror Films, and Shaye is producing the film alongside Eric Barrett.
Moseley and Shaye are joined in the cast by Olivier Paris (How I Met Your Father) and Daytime Emmy winner Victoria Konefal (Days of Our Lives).
Moseley and Shaye have both been showing up in horror movies since the 1980s.

The year is off to a hot start with 2023’s first big budget blockbuster, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, released and performing well with $104 million in its opening weekend, and this week brings in the tongue-in-cheek comedy animal attack film Cocaine Bear. Our review from Chris Bumbray praises the start-to-finish fun energy of the Elizabeth Banks-directed movie. Variety now reports about the Thursday preview taking in $2 million on 3,000 screens and expands to 3,534 nationwide today.
The movie was projected to make between $15 million and $17 million, with $20 million at the most, thanks to good word-of-mouth buzz and the best meme-worthy concept this side of Snakes on a Plane. This is a great pace for the film, as the budget came in at around $35 million, with most being spent on the CGI bear. Elizabeth Banks even recently received a Beary Best Award from PETA for her usage of CG to portray the enraged,...

The last time a movie was marketed with a this-sounds-so-wretchedly-over-the-top-not-to-mention-insane-it-could-almost-be-fun low/high concept, the results, to put it kindly, were mixed. “Snakes on a Plane,” which sounded like a title that Don Simpson scrawled in white powder on a table at 4:00 a.m., was a movie that wore its brain-deadness on both lapels. But 17 years ago, that title inspired mountains of online chatter, to the point that the filmmakers incorporated bits and pieces of the obsessive fan gabble into the movie, most famously the Samuel L. Jackson line, “I have had it with these mothefuckin’ snakes on this motherfuckin‘ plane!” The result was that “Snakes on a Plane” felt like the first piece of brazen Hollywood schlock that was crowdsourced. The audience went in thinking: It may be trash, but it’s our trash.

Not since Snakes on a Plane has a movie promised so much, but despite a great cast the plot is too tame
Once upon a time, deep in the woods by Georgia’s Chattahoochee River, a bear stumbled upon a cartel’s stash, ingested $2m worth of cocaine and … died. If the near-inescapable marketing for this movie had you idly wondering, “What would happen if a bear did a load of cocaine?” this is the underwhelming but factual answer, supplied by a 1985 news report.
That’s not much of a movie, however, so screenwriter Jimmy Warden has instead imagined what might have happened if that 175lb black bear had gone on a coke-fuelled murderous rampage. The result is this film, and not since 2006’s Snakes on a Plane has a title promised so much entertainment, so succinctly. But is this film, like that Samuel L Jackson vehicle, also fated to...

Cocaine Bear is a movie that was already a certain kind of hit before it even came out thanks to its idiotic premise and outrageously blunt name. The title says it all. Just like Snakes on a Plane was about just that, the new horror comedy Cocaine Bear is about a 500-pound bear on a jihad after coming upon a ton of cocaine dropped into rural Georgia on a drug run gone wrong. The bear ingests the coke, and soon you have a beast roaring out of control and devouring whatever human comes onto his path. It is all not to be taken seriously, but fortunately director Elizabeth Banks is smart enough to give audiences hungry for a Jaws in the wilderness some nice scares mixed in with the laughs plus a bit more bang for their buck than just a marketable title.
With a game ensemble playing none-too-bright potential meals, the intelligence level of many on display makes The Dukes of Hazzard look like Schindler’s List. I was rooting for the bear,...

People are all the buzz about Cocaine Bear, and for all the right reasons. Not since Snakes on a Plane have audiences heard a title and thought, “Yes!” The difference here is Cocaine Bear is based on an insane true story. The marketing has been appropriately tongue-in-cheek, and the early word is that it’s a fun and breezy romp into one of the many examples of life being stranger than fiction.
The director of the film is comedic film actress Elizabeth Banks. This will be Banks’ third feature-length directorial effort after Pitch Perfect 2 and Charlie’s Angels. Recently, PETA has presented Banks with the “Beary Best Award.” The Award is given to Banks for her direction choice of using a human bear stand-in while filming the movie and CGI in a photorealistic bear rather than exploiting an actual bear for the performance.

We’re almost through the month of February, and while Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” should remain #1, it’s likely to have a pretty major drop based on its “B” CinemaScore, and the fact that it opened over a holiday weekend. Look for “Ant-Man” to bring in around $40 million or possibly even less on its second weekend. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.

Do you remember where you were when you heard about Cocaine Bear coming to theaters? How about Snakes on a Plane? Odds are you were on some corner of the internet, faffing around on social media, when a vibration ran through the service like a schoolyard rumor. It’s a different sensation than a blockbuster announcement meant to excite, isn’t it? It’s closer to awe, coupled with a can-you-believe-it hilarity. You look into it. It’s a movie with a goofy title, one of the dumbest premises you’ve ever heard, and a corny trailer that hits your funny bone like a brick. You gotta see this thing, just to say you’ve seen this thing. Welcome to the way of the schlock. Buy the salted caramel popcorn at the concession counter. It’s a special occasion.

Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in plenty of movies that have won critical acclaim, including Pulp Fiction, which earned him an Oscar nomination. And then, there’s Snakes on a Plane. That 2006 film was never meant to win any awards — it never pretended to be anything more than what it was: an over-the-top action movie. Rumor has it that Jackson jumped on board as soon as he heard the film’s title; at the time of its release, he talked to us about why he was so excited to star in a movie like that. You know those directors you keep rooting for, even though they've yet to really knock one out of the park? That's Elizabeth Banks for me at this stage in her career behind the camera. Her first two times at bat, on "Pitch Perfect 2" and the 2019 "Charlie's Angels," provide fun-if-hollow female empowerment, though that's more to do with their energetic performances than their direction, which tends to be flat and lacking for flair.
Luckily, Banks' next outing as a director, "Cocaine Bear," is the perfect chance for her to turn on the juice and see what shakes loose. Will it be the next "Snakes on a Plane," i.e. a very R-rated comedy-thriller that couldn't quite live up to its outlandish title and capitalize on the sheer hype it generated among the Very Online demographic, or will it be a riotous good time that doubles as a searing indictment of...

Knock at the Cabin – February 3
M. Night Shyamalan is back with another fun twisty thriller. This time he adapts a novel by Paul Tremblay. A family is enjoying a quiet weekend at their small cabin getaway. No one is around for miles. This starts off great, but soon four individuals show up and tell them that someone in their family has to die or the world will end.

Samuel L. Jackson once starred in the hit action thriller Snakes on a Plane. But at the time, some believed doing the movie would do his career more harm than good.

Snakes on a Plane was a 2006 feature film that saw Jackson playing FBI agent Neville Flynn. Neville would find himself on board of a plane with several passengers that would soon be crawling with deadly snakes. The title of the film was what initially piqued Jackson’s interest in the movie.
“Snakes on a Plane. I thought, ‘Oh, s***, I need to be in that,” Jackson once told Entertainment Weekly.
What further attracted Jackson to the project was that someone who he personally trusted was originally directing the film.

Actor Samuel L Jackson’s 74th birthday was marred by controversy after fans noticed his Twitter account had “liked” a string of hardcore p*rnography sites. The actor’s favoured tweets feed was full of videos from Twitter user @blackpanda_00, which included a man involved in an intimate act and men and women having sex, as well as other explicit clips, reports aceshowbiz.com.
It is not known whether the likes are the result of his Twitter account being run by a third party or if the actor, who turned 74 on Wednesday, December 21, may have been hacked.
After Jackson’s name started trending due to the likes, they were removed – but not before his followers’ screen-grabbed them and shared them online with comments about his supposed taste in adult material.

The first teaser trailer for “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” has become one of the most-watched trailers ever.
The first look at the Steve Caple Jr.-directed sci-fi actioner earned 494 million global, cross-platform views in the first week, according to Paramount. That was well above the other big trailers released last Thursday (courtesy of Ccxp), namely “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (182 million) and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (77 million).
Measured viewership was at 238 million on day one alone, above any previous theatrical trailer in Paramount’s history, and in fourth place for that first 24-hour cycle behind only the second “Avengers: Endgame” trailer (268 million), the first “Avengers: Endgame” trailer (289 million) and the first trailer to Sony’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (355.5 million).

Believe it or not, 2022 is almost done. Where did the time go?! /Film recently took stock of the year's best horror releases, including "X," "Crimes of the Future," and "Resurrection." It's also that time of the year to look ahead to what's barreling down the tracks. What will 2023 have in store? Considering there are new releases being announced almost daily, 2023 will surely be another banner year for horror.
To be honest, though, it's going to be difficult to outdo 2022, which saw one franchise come to a close ("Halloween") and another just getting started again ("Scream"). Plus, original horror shattered the box office. Films like "Smile," "The Black Phone," and "Nope" drew in loads of cash; who said horror was dead? For the most anticipated horror films, here are several handpicked studio-backed releases and a few indie film titles peppered in that are making waves online. This is by no means a definitive list,...

Will Smith paid extras on the set of his new film Emancipation out of his own pocket, according to the director Antoine Fuqua.
The Apple TV+ movie stars Smith as an enslaved man who escapes from a plantation in Louisiana, in the 1860s, and joins the Union Army during the Civil War.
It is based on the true story of a man called Gordon, of whom photographs of his bare back, scarred from whippings, were published worldwide in 1863. Their publication was a milestone in the abolitionist movement.
In a new interview, Fuqua said of Smith: “He was kind to everyone on the set. Will would go around and hug and shake hands – we had 300-something extras and military. Marines.
“He’s funny. He’s fun. We had certain extras that were the dead bodies in the graves, and he would go give them money for lying there in that heat of over 100 degrees.

John Leguizamo has criticised Chris Pratt and Charlie Day’s casting in the new Super Mario Bros film.
The Latin actor, who plated Luigi in a 1993 live-action film based on the video game, described the move as “backwards”.
Speaking about his former role, Leguizamo said: “A lot of people love the original. I did Comic-Con in New York and in Baltimore, and everyone’s like, ‘No, no, we love the old one, the original.’ They’re not feeling the new one.’ I’m not bitter. It’s unfortunate.”
Addressing American actors Pratt and Day’s casting as the characters, Leguizamo highlighted the lengths the 1993 film’s directors, Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton, went to in order to get him cast in the role.
“They fought really hard for me to be the lead because I was a Latin man, and they [the studio] didn’t want me to be the lead. They fought really hard,...

Samuel L Jackson has revealed that he threatened to quit the movie Snakes on a Plane if producers went with its alternative title.
The 2006 action film, directed by David R Ellis, starred Jackson as an FBI agent on a plane where dozens of venomous snakes have been released in an attempt to kill a trial witness.
During an interview on the podcast Pardon My Take, Jackson reflected on how, after filmmaker Ronny Yu was fired from the movie, production company New Line Cinema wanted to change the film’s name.
Jackson said: “The first day I got there, they were passing out new pages, and they gave me this script that said Pacific Flight 121, and I’m like, ‘The f*** is this?’”
The studio told the actor that the film’s name had been changed so as not to spoil its plot.
To which Jackson replied: “You exactly want to do that!
