The movie was originally rated R by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) but the classification was changed to a PG rating on application to the Appeals Board on 30th June 1981 according to an article published in the 7th July 1981 issue of show-business trade-paper 'Daily Variety'.

This picture was the first feature film produced by RKO Pictures for about twenty-three years. However, RKO was only a co-distributor with the Hemdale Film Corpration and Avco-Embassy Pictures.
