Ellen Eugenia Johnson was born in Monrovia. She was educated at the College of West Africa. She completed her education in the United States, where she studied at Madison Business College and Harvard University. She returned to Liberia to work in William Tolbert's government as Deputy Minister of Finance from 1971 to 1974. Later she worked again in the West, for the World Bank in the Caribbean and Latin America. In 1979 she received a cabinet appointment as Minister of Finance, serving to 1980.
In 1980 Sirleaf fled to the United States. She worked for Citibank and then the Equator Bank. She returned to Liberia to contest a senatorial seat for Montserrado County in 1985, an election that was disputed.
Sirleaf continued to be involved in politics. She finished in second place at the 1997 presidential election, which was won by Charles Taylor.
She won the 2005 presidential election and took office on 16 January 2006. She was re-elected in 2011. She was the first woman in Africa elected as president of her country. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011, in recognition of her efforts to bring women into the peacekeeping process. She has received numerous other awards for her leadership.

Samuel C. Morrison Jr. is a filmmaker with a diverse background in the entertainment industry. He was born in Monrovia, Liberia and migrated to the United States when he was 3 years old, settling in New Jersey. Morrison received a partial scholarship to Rutgers University after excelling academically and becoming the first member of his family to attend college. However, after his mother passed away and the financial burden became too great for his father to bear, he was forced to drop out of college and pursue other opportunities.
Morrison began his career in the music industry, working in promotions, marketing, and the A&R department for companies such as Def Jam Recordings and TVT Records. He later transitioned to journalism, writing for The Source magazine. In recent years, Morrison has focused on filmmaking, serving as a writer and producer for an entertainment news show on AOL/Huff Post. He has also founded Deck of Cards Entertainment, a production company based in the greater Philadelphia area that specializes in producing high-quality micro-budget content.
Previous films include "By Deception," which was released in November of 2022 on Peacock and Tubi, while also bringing the music-based drama The Mint (2022), starring Jenni Farley and Kristinia DeBarge Kristinia DeBarge and securing R. Losing his parents young was a blessing and a curse, The blessing was the freedom to leave for Hollywood without the feeling of abandoning them. The curse is obvious. Jeff's first film role was as a Mafia tough in "Genuine Risk" with Peter Berg whom he calls the first of the great, talented and friendly artists he's had the good luck of working with over the years. - George Weah is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer serving as the 25th President of Liberia since 2018. Prior to his election to the presidency, Weah served as Senator from Montserrado County. During his football career, he played as a striker. His prolific 18-year professional playing career ended in 2003.
After beginning his career in his home country of Liberia, Weah spent 14 years playing for clubs in France, Italy, and England. Arsène Wenger first brought him to Europe, signing him for Monaco in 1988. Weah moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 1992 where he won Ligue 1 in 1994 and became the top scorer of the 1994-95 UEFA Champions League. He signed for A.C. Milan in 1995 where he spent four successful seasons, winning Serie A twice. He moved to the Premier League towards the end of his career and had spells at Chelsea F.C. and Manchester City F.C., winning the FA Cup at the former, before returning to France to play for Olympique de Marseille in 2001, and subsequently ending his career with Al-Jazira in 2003.

Angel Dweh, (born November 14, 1999), is a Liberian-American singer, recording artist, songwriter, composer, dancer, and actor. He was born to Alice Dweh, a businesswoman in Monrovia, Liberia. His mother a native of the Krahn ethnic group of eastern Liberia and later immigrated to the United States.
Angel is known for incorporating multiple genres in his songwriting such as Pop, Afropop/Afrobeat, and R&B. His effervescent music embodies a truly unique sound that represents his personality and his home country of Liberia. Angel's distinctive vocal style in the Afropop/Afrobeats music genre has earned him the title of "Afro-Prince."
Since emerging on the music scene in 2020 with the hit singles "Love a Good Thing", "Salud", "Hard for Me" and "Flexin," Angel has been grabbing the attention of critics both locally and internationally. His single, "Kokona" was one of the most-played songs on independent radio stations in Nigeria, Liberia, and Tanzania. On the Master Class Radio show in Canada, another hit single, "Salud" ranked within the top 5 songs. Angel's music video for "Hard for Me" placed in the top three on Hot TV in Liberia.
In his preteen years. As a student at Ephrata High School, Angel participated in the Honor Choir Festival as a tenor at Lebanon Valley College (2019), and the LLMEA Festival (2017), (2018). He was a member of the Tri-M Honor Music Society and a guest performer with the Mountaineer Men Choir at the Ephrata Middle School Choral Concert (2019). He also performed the National Anthem at the U.S. Women's National Field Hockey Game (2017).
Angel participated in both school and community musical theater productions. His first experience on stage was portraying Seaweed J. Stubbs in a school production of Hairspray (2014) as an 8th-grade middle school student. As a high school student, he played Brujon in Les Miserables (2015) and performed as a dancer/singer in Grease (2016). Angel was featured as a dancer in Beauty & The Beast (2018) and The Adam's Family (2019) in the Ephrata High School Theater productions. At the Ephrata Performance Art Center, Angel performed as a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz (2017), a member of the dance ensemble in Ragtime (2019), and was an understudy for Seaweed J. Bob Blessing Jacobs (born 3 December 1994), popularly known as BobbyJayTV, is an African American Musical artist, songwriter, EDM Producer, YouTuber, and Entrepreneur. He Was Born in Monrovia, Liberia (West Africa) but grew up in Massachusetts, United States.
BobbyJayTV attended Lowell high school for his primary level and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. After college, Jacobs pursued a career in music. He started his own YouTube channel, BobbyJayTV, in 2020, which he mainly used to post music videos. His channel grew rapidly after posting a few songs he had written and produced himself.
He first released "trials and tribulations" on Spotify in 2022, and then after a few months, he released his music on many other international platforms like Deezer, Tidal, and Apple music. - Champion platform diver Velma Dunn was born on October 9, 1918 in Monrovia, California. Her mother was a schoolteacher. Velma took swimming lessons at the YMCA in Pasadena, California and learned how to dive at the Pasadena Athletic Club. Dunn attended the 1932 Olympic games in Los Angeles, California, which in turn inspired her to compete in Amateur Athletic Union meets with the L.A. Athletic Club. Velma won the junior national championships in diving in 1935 and placed second in the Olympic tryouts the following year. At age seventeen Dunn won the silver medal in the 10 meter platform event at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. A few weeks later Velma enrolled at the University of Southern California as a physical education major. After getting both a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree as well as receiving a teaching credential from USC, Dunn went on to teach physical education at Huntington Park High School.
While teaching at Huntington Park High School Velma met swimmer and swimming instructor Howard Ploessel, who she subsequently married in 1943. The Ploessels then moved to San Pedro, California, where Howard taught Army soldiers how to swim at Fort MacArthur and Dunn taught physical education as well as water ballet, synchronized swimming, and lifesaving techniques at San Pedro High. After taking a break from school to have children, Velma resumed teaching in 1953 at South Gate Junior High, where she remained prior to eventually retiring in 1980. Moreover, Dunn retained her ties with the Olympic games later in her life: She not only volunteered for the 1984 L.A. Olympics, but also participated in the torch relay before the 1996, 2000, and 2002 Olympics (she did the latter one at age 83). Velma died on May 8, 2007 after suffering a stroke at age 88 at the Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier, California.
