On June 4, Aventura - the timeless bachata band that consists of Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, and Max Santos - hit the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, as part of their reunion tour Cerrando Ciclos. They had already performed at the venue two nights in a row, as well as played a show at Madison Square Garden on May 23. With an audience filled with mostly Dominicans - many of them proudly waving their flags - it was remarkable to see how a genre that was once associated with the bars and brothels of lower-income neighborhoods in the countryside of the Dominican Republic has become such a global phenomenon. And it was Aventura, a boy band formed by four Dominican teenagers in the 1990s, that would completely revolutionize bachata beyond what any of them could have originally envisioned.

There’s been plenty of speculation that Jasmine Pineda and Gino Palazzolo split, and Jasmine’s recent social media activity is fueling the rumors.
The 90 Day Fiance star made it clear to her Instagram followers that she won’t be spilling any tea about her and Gino’s marriage online.
Although she’s provided us with some clues, they’ve left us feeling more confused than anything else.
For example, in her most recent Instagram upload, Jasmine opted not to wear her wedding ring.
The Panamanian native recorded herself lipsyncing to the song La Mejor Versión De Mí by Natti Natasha and Romeo Santos as she danced inside her living room.
In the video, the 38-year-old wore a matching off-the-shoulder top and skirt as she sang and danced for her followers.

Last month, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro put out a call to the public, asking people to send ideas for music by Latin artists to submit to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s part of a years-long effort on Castro’s part to get more Latin art preserved within the Library of Congress and to increase Latino representation across media and pop culture.
The National Recording Registry is made up of works considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” or that “inform or reflect life in the United States.

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga ditched the upbeat, electronic dance sound that made her popular to work with Bennett on jazz music, a genre she had been singing since she was a teenager. The New Yorkers first collaborated on “The Lady Is a Tramp” from Bennett’s 2011 release Duets II. The pairing was so perfect they went on to record 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, with Bennett and Gaga hoping to turn more kids to jazz music. “[Gaga] has a vast group of young people who love her, and they’ve never heard popular jazz music, classical American music … and my ambition was to do this...

A crying emoji and a drawing of a river. The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. A collage of nineties boy bands. These were the clues Coco Jones provided her fans with when teasing the remix of “ICU,” her breakthrough single released last October. They didn’t point towards the artists many fans thought would be tapped to revamp the song, like Jazmine Sullivan or Usher, but its actual featured guest, Justin Timberlake, knows a thing or two about creating a soulful R&b duet, too.

Whenever Bachata king Romeo Santos steps foot in a NYC stadium, the turnout is no joke. He has sold out shows at both Yankee Stadium and Met Life Stadium, and his performance on Friday, June 9, at Citi Field was no different. The sold-out, three-hour performance, which is part of the Grammy-nominated singer's "Fórmula, Vol. 3" tour, was accompanied by a packed crowd of 40,000 fans. Based on the countless Latin American flags that waved that night, it's fair to assume that a large majority of the audience were Latines. Dominican DJ Mad opened the show, playing everything from merengue to reggaeton and even Central American cumbia; in other words, he made sure to please the diverse Latine communities that showed up. Santos, who is a native New Yorker himself, remains significant for Latines from New York, particularly those who grew up listening to him back in his Aventura days. There was a...

Audible has struck a deal with Sonoro, the audio company creating programming for Latinx and Hispanic audiences, to create a slate of original shows in both Spanish and English.
The first project from the partnership will star Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Alan Cumming (The Good Wife) in the English-language version. Described as a comedy thriller, Previa: A Tech Heist, involves a futuristic VR headset that allows Alzheimer’s and dementia patients to access their forgotten memories — that is until its inventor realizes the device, in the wrong hands, can be used to create false memories.
The second show in the slate, Shaky, will be a dark comedy from writer Katherine Craft (Apple TV+’s Best Foot Forward) about a 30-something hedonistic drummer who moves back in with her Christian mother and younger sister in the Dallas suburbs after being diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease.

Even if you're not familiar with the name, Ir-Sais, you're probably familiar with the artist's work. His 2019 smash hit "Dreamgirl" was everywhere and garnered not one but two remixes: one featuring reggaeton star Rauw Alejandro, and the other with dancehall legend Sean Paul. But just as the single was peaking internationally, the pandemic hit, forcing Sais (real name: Irgwin Placido Sluis) into quarantine instead of letting him ride the wave of his recent success.

George Santos has only been in Congress for a few weeks, but his legacy as one of D.C.’s most prolific and compulsive liars has already been cemented.
The Long Island congressman is facing multiple criminal and ethical investigations regarding his deception of voters over the course of his run for Congress, as well as potential fraud and campaign finance violations. The Nassau County GOP has banned him from events and meetings, and a series of lawmakers and organizations have called for his resignation.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m. Est, Romeo Santos shocked fans with the music video of his single "Solo Conmigo," from his "Formula, Vol.3" album, that released on Sept. 2 of last year. The bachatero's music videos don't normally stray from his typical format - him getting intimate with a beautiful woman - but this one is a tad bit different. The woman in the music video isn't just another model or actress - she's his longtime girlfriend, and the two are expecting a baby, Popsugar confirms. Can we take a second to process what just happened here? Santos not only revealed his girl to the public for the first time ever, but he also just made a whole pregnancy announcement out of his new video!

Sex and love are two different things, at least according to the king of bachata! On Tuesday, Romeo Santos released the sensual music video for his Fórmula, Vol. 3 track “Solo Conmigo,” and in it, he announced that he’s expecting his fourth child with his “life partner.”
The sexually explicit visual follows a naked Santos caressing a woman’s body as he intimately sings to her about how she’s “kissed so many princes looking for love” but that he’s been the only one to secure her heart.

Romeo Santos, the Bronx native considered the king of bachata, played the role of a drunk, scorned level at the Latin Grammys when he performed his hit “Bebo,” off his latest album Fórmula, Vol. 3.
He stumbled around the stage, which was littered with empty liquor bottles. He pretended to take sips from one and then jumped into the song. Accompanied by background singers and a guitarist who dominated his solos, Romeo ended his set with a little tumble to the floor to fully play into his role.

It used to be that recording artists had to be known for a specific genre to get signed to a label. But in recent years, more and more music artists have been experimenting with different genres - from The Weekend's bachata track with Rosalía to iconic pop singer Thalia's new urbano sounds.
Still, it's rare that you see an artist who isn't known for a specific genre skyrocket to fame. And yet Manuel Turizo has managed to beat those odds by creating music on his own terms. The 22-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter from Montería, Colombia, has released everything from pop music to reggaeton and vallenato. His latest megahit, "La Bachata," his first bachata song, rose to No. 1 in Latin Airplay and Tropical on the Billboard charts for multiple consecutive weeks.

We've all been there: you're in a romantic relationship that isn't exactly the healthiest, and it eventually triggers your inner loca, or what men love to refer to as "psycho b*tch." Maybe they were unfaithful or treated you poorly, eventually breaking both your heart and your trust in them. You might have tolerated it for weeks, months, or even years until it drove you temporarily to lose your sh*t. This is exactly what Mexican singer and icon Thalía tapped into when she wrote her latest single, "Psycho B*tch," which dropped on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. Thalía managed to take an ugly reality and an exhausting stereotype - cause Latinas stay getting a bad rep for being spitfire locas - and turned it into something both humorous and empowering. It's relatable, to say the least.
"It's just that fun aspect of like don't push my buttons. You're going to find me.

Who said a bachata star can’t sing rancheras? On Friday, Romeo Santos joined música Mexicana heavyweight Christian Nodál for the emotional, tequila-soaked video for “Me Extraño,” which shows the two of them trading verses about love and regrets at an opulent bar.

Romeo Santos has got the beauty formula. The music superstar, who is known as the King of Bachata, has usually kept details of his personal life out of the spotlight. When Romeo Santos became the first Latino artist to sell out two consecutive shows at Yankees Stadium in 2014, it was clear he was a force to be reckoned with. Starting with his teenage days in the New York City-based band Aventura, the singer’s youthful falsetto and seductive flow has helped bring the decades-old Dominican style to soaring new heights over the years. The genre, which has roots in Afro-Dominican barrios, has been derided by the nation’s elites in the past, but Santos became a sensation and brought the...

Bad Bunny has been on a roll, and it doesn't look like he'll be stopping to slow down any time soon. While his career has been skyrocketing for the past few years, this year has been especially significant. He's become one of the most-streamed artists - and not just in Latin or reggaeton music, but globally. And his latest album, "Un Verano Sin Ti," which we've all had on repeat since its drop, is proof of that. But if you need any further evidence of the impact the Puerto Rican artist has on NYC's musical landscape and culture, look no further than the back-to-back concerts at Yankee Stadium that took place this past weekend and were part of his World's Hottest Tour.

It almost feels like a cliché to declare 2022 the year of Bad Bunny, because let’s face it: The last several years have been entirely his. Since 2020, the Puerto Rican titan has been the most streamed artist in the world, and every rotation around the sun only makes him a bigger phenomenon. He keeps breaking records and climbing skyward, reaching a place reserved for rare, once-in-a-lifetime stars.
