Dev Patel, Jason Momoa, Olivia Rodrigo and James Wan are the entertainers topping Gold House’s A100 list of the most influential Asian Pacifics across culture for 2024.
Annually released on the first day of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month since 2018, this year’s A100 also includes Keanu Reeves, Hayao Miyazaki, BTS member Jung Kook, Academy president Janet Yang and — in a sign of the relative plenitude of Api-fronted content today — key creatives and cast members from Avatar: The Last Airbender, 3 Body Problem, Past Lives, One Piece, Expats, Elemental, Shōgun and The Sympathizer.
“This year was special: Asian Pacific leaders had a record number of records broken while building a more inclusive tomorrow for all, particularly in new avenues like AI,” Gold House CEO Bing Chen and COO Jeremy Tran said in a joint statement. “Gold House is honored to celebrate so many new and established leaders who are committed to both equity and excellence.

Comedian Bert Kreischer got more than he bargained for as host of Netflix’s first-ever live sports event, the Netflix Cup, when a female protester ran onto the scene at the Wynn Golf Course in Las Vegas and he instinctively sprang into action, tackling her on camera.
In an exclusive interview with Deadline, Kreischer explains that the events of Tuesday afternoon transpired so quickly, he barely recalled what happened in the aftermath. “When we got done, someone at Netflix came up to me and they’re like, ‘Hey, you’re going viral’ and I was like, ‘For what?’ And they’re like, ‘The protestor,'” Kreischer says. “I literally, honestly didn’t even think about it. I really don’t have a recollection of it, other than being in production mode and being like, ‘Hey, you can’t get in the shot.'”

Netflix is adamant that it’s not interested in live sports.
“We are in the sports business, but we’re in the part of the sports business that we bring the most value to, which is the drama of sport, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said on the company’s third-quarter earnings call.
Sarandos was referring to sports docu-series such as Drive To Survive, Full Swing, Quarterback and Beckham.
He added that there was no “core change” in its live sports strategy. This comes after Netflix set its first live sports event.
The streamer is hosting The Netflix Cup, a golf tournament that features drivers from its Formula 1: Drive To Survive series and golfers from its Full Swing show.

Live sports are at the center of the next wave of streaming evolution as live TV streaming services rely on them to attract and retain subscribers and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platforms — like Max, Paramount+, and Peacock — are beefing up their exclusive sports content to round out their offerings. Netflix is taking a swing at live sports.
The streamer, which has mounted a few live events in the past year, has set its first live sports event — one that also reinforces the company brand. Netflix will stage a nine-hole golf match, which it’s calling the Netflix Cup, and will feature athletes familiar to viewers of two of the streamer’s docuseries, Formula 1: Drive to Survive and Full Swing.
Formula 1 drivers Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz will be paired with PGA Tour golfers Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas for the match, which is set for Nov. 14 at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas. The location and timing aren’t incidental: The match will kick off the events leading up to F1’s inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 18.

Enjoy golf? You will simply love this. And if you aren´t a fan, this can be appreciated because Full Swing puts us in the skin and lives of these pros beyond the apparent tranquility of a world that is anything but… peaceful.
Eight really entertaining chapters full of luxury, interviews, oddities and anecdotes about golfing that present this sport as a little more than mere sport and bring us close to a world that few of us were aware of, and which from now on, will be much more interesting.
In the same vein as Break Point (this one was about tennis), in this series we are taken on the great tournaments and players, also new players in another generation that leaves Tiger Woods behind, who seek to carve a space for themselves in the history of the sport.
This series is very entertaining and, above all, is not focused exclusively for golfers.

So much for Tiger Woods’ planned return to competitive golf this week.

The Albany (Bahamas), Nov 28 (Ians) Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return to action this week as the 15-time Major winner competes for the first time since July at the Hero World Challenge.
Before that the only events he turned up for were the Masters and the PGA Championship. Yet, between now and the end of 2022, Woods will be seen in action at the Hero World Challenge, a high-profile event that has just 20 players, all of them barring three are inside Top-23 of the world.
Two of the other three, Kevin Kisner (31) and Corey Conners, a late replacement for the injured Hideki Matsuyama (19) add to the field. Only Woods, the host is specially ‘exempt’ at 1277, not having played since the Open and only three events for a total of nine rounds – four at the Masters, three at PGA before withdrawing and two at the Open before missing the cut at St Andrews.

Quail Hollow (USA), Sep 25 (Ians) The International Team dubbed as the underdogs and a pushover for the strong United States team have put up a fine fight. While the first two sessions saw them fight but lose out 1-4 and then again 1-4, they did a much better job of scoring in the third and fourth sessions.
Led by the baby-faced Kim Joohyung also called Tom Kim, because of his childhood love for toy trains, and the veteran Aussie Adam Scott, the Internationals tied the US 2-2 in the Round 3 Foursomes and then won the Round Four Fourball 3-1. Kim and Scott won both their matches, in the morning and afternoon sessions on the busy third day.
The score now stands 11-7, way better than what it was 8-2 after first two sessions. The 12 singles will be played on Sunday (late night in India).

The 122nd U.S. Open Championship tees off Thursday at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, for the year’s third major tournament. Defending champion Jon Rahm (pictured) faces top contenders in Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Cameron Smith, Viktor Hovland, and world No. 1 and current Masters champion Scottie Scheffler. The controversy surrounding the Liv Golf Invitational Series — the new pro golf tour financed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund — remains a top story surrounding the U.S. Open. Since the U.S. Open is a Usga event, players suspended by the PGA Tour can still participate.
