- Trained at Drama Centre, London. He was the youngest member of Group 28, training between 1989 and 1992 alongside Helen McRory, John Simm and Anne-Marie Duff.
- He founded the award winning theatre company, Operating Theatre Company, in 2002.
- He was dramaturg and original director of The Night Season, by Rebecca Lenkiweicz. It premiered at the National Theatre in 2004. It received a number of awards including the Critics' Circle Most Promising Playwright Award, and was also nominated for the Charles Wintour Evening Standard Award in addition to the Susan Smith Blackburn Award.
