MTV released a trailer for “The Challenge: Spies, Lies and Allies” and announced the first-ever “The Challenge: Fantasy League.”
The new season of the long-running franchise, which premieres Aug. 11 at 8 p.m., will showcase 17 international players alongside U.S. players. It will then roll out globally across MTV’s international networks in more than 190 countries throughout the coming months.
The trailer, which you can watch below, starts off with contestants atop cars swerving around tracks. “The Challenge” host T.J. Lavin tells contestants that the competition will be more complicated than ever before. “Agents, here on ‘The Challenge,’ the missions are harder, my eliminations — tougher. So I’ve brought 34 of the most elite agents from around the globe to test every one of your skills,” he says.
Aside from physical competition, the trailer provides a sneak peek into the contestants’ personal lives, with dancing, partying and romance being showcased between the players.

Canadian TV series "Lost Girl", which also airs on Syfy here in the States, has lined up a pretty impressive guest star for its upcoming Season 3: none other than ass-kicker supreme Linda Hamilton.
TVLine reports that Hamilton (The Terminator, "Beauty and the Beast") will guest star in Season 3's tenth episode as Acacia, “a tough, sexy, and ruthless assassin who has enjoyed a storied and deadly career.”
Season 2 of "Lost Girl" is currently finishing out its run on Syfy by moving to Friday nights at 10:00 Pm, and Season 3 will air on both Syfy and Showcase in 2013 (Syfy says January while Showcase just says winter).
Synopsis:
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door – until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death.

Of course, for the most part I only know of Lost Girl from its U.S. airing, but I’m a fan, and Linda Hamilton showing up is just too cool.
She’ll be guest-starring as an assassin no less, and it ought to be a rather fun trip. Call me crazy, but this show just gets better and better, and I love to see things coming south.
Are you a fan of the show, and is this a good move?

We haven't been covering "Lost Girl" much lately, but we did want to pass on the news that Syfy has renewed the hit series (it's the #1 cable drama among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 in its time period) for a third season of 13 episodes, beginning January 2013.
If you're a fan of the show, note that on July 20th, "Lost Girl" will move from Mondays at 10:00 Pm (Et/Pt) to Fridays at 10:00 Pm.

Excellent news about a fun, entertaining supernatural crime show with some cool creatures, a fair amount of sex and terrific chemistry between the characters. Hopefully you’ve been catching Lost Girl on Syfy, Mondays at 10/9c. The show is Syfy‘s only “acquired” scripted series. It’s a Canadian production and has been broadcast there with great success and rabid fans, if my international Twitter feed is any indication.
It was renewed for a third season in Canada back in December, before Season 1 debuted here on Syfy in January. Syfy began airing Season 2 the week after Season 1 concluded, and Season 2 is still rolling out now. It’s great news that we’ll be seeing the third season here as well. Here’s the press release:

Well, there’s a much bigger audience for this news than there was when I mentioned that the second of Lost Girl was coming, so hopefully there are a lot of you out there that are glad to hear that Season 3 is getting underway.
It’s timely news as well, now that Syfy kicked off Eureka! last night, which hopefully gave Lost Girl even more of a boost. It’s also timely, because I know there are some folks out there who started to wonder when Syfy began talking about Season 2 of a rebroadcast show that didn’t actually have a Season 3 yet.
I love Syfy for airing the show, but it’s tricky for some fans who may find themselves unsure how much they want to invest in a show, when the network you’re watching it on isn’t really in control of what happens.
At any rate,...

Stuart Townsend will topline a conspiracy thriller series called "Xiii" for Canada's Prodigy Pictures and France's Cipango. The series is set to air in France on Canal Plus in 2011 and on Showcase in Canada in spring 2011.
The hourlong drama is based on Jean Van Hamme's eponymous graphic novel, which has sold 13 million copies worldwide since the first volume was published 25 years ago.
Townsend will play "Xiii," a former secret agent who cannot remember his past and thus sets out to uncover his true identity. Hunted by an anti-government organization, Xiii quickly realizes that the closer he gets to the truth, the more deadly the mission becomes.
Prodigy's Jay Firestone is executive producing along with Cipango's Edouard De Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. Gil Grant ("NCIS: Los Angeles," "24") wrote the pilot episode and will serve as the series' showrunner and executive producer. Peter Mohan will co-executive produce the project.

Toronto -- After the success of CBS' "Flashpoint," Canadian indie producers are cranking out even more homegrown dramas and comedies that could look and feel perfectly at home on U.S. network and cable schedules.
Canadian cable channel Showcase has ordered 13 episodes of "Lost Girl" from Prodigy Pictures, a sci-fi drama that stars Anna Silk and Kristen Holden-Reid about inhuman women who seduce and feed off their human partner's sexual energy.
The producer is completing an interactive website, a graphic novel and a downloadable video game to accompany the 2010 broadcast bow.
Jay Firestone, Paul Rapovksi, Plato Fountidakis, Michelle Lovretta and Peter Mohan share executive producer credits on "Lost Girl." Wanda Chaffey is producing.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. has also ordered a slew of pilots as part of its growing development slate, including "Henry Starts Again" from E1 Television, which is shortly to start production on "Haven," a 13-part suspense TV series for Universal Networks International.
