Eisbrenner initially studied church music at the State Music Academy in Berlin and then worked as a pianist and arranger for a music publishing company. During the 1930's and 40's, he became a leading composer of movie themes at Ufa and Tobis, including classics like Romanze in Moll (1943) and Great Freedom No. 7 (1944). He was able to continue successfully after the war, writing for East German Defa films. From 1952, he was active as composer/arranger for radio Freies Berlin and as leader of the SFB Dance Orchestra.
