Folks, I love the X-Men. When I was a kid, Professor Charles Xavier and his band of mutant outcasts were at their peak with Chris Claremont’s X-Men bringing the super-team into the households of young comic book readers everywhere. Needless to say, I’m absolutely stoked by the recently released Disney Plus continuation of the 1990s animated TV series and have had X-Men on the brain 24/7 these days… seriously guys, I’ve worn this sweatshirt like every day since mid-March… And seeing as I’ve been let down by the last couple of movies I’ve covered on this show- Today I’m going to be selfish and talk about an entry in the Fox X-Men universe that I love. A film that breathed new life into the decaying franchise with exciting new timelines and a fresh filmmaker with bright eyes and a passion for comics. A movie that...

Deadpool & Wolverine hype has been on the horizon since the announcement of the movie (even before the title announcement). The biggest surprise for fans has to be Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, despite the death of his character in the 2017 movie Logan. But convincing Jackman was not enough, Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy wanted a lot more for the movie.

Spoiler alert: the film is not "Swept Away."
Given the filmmaking tear that Guy Ritchie has been on of late, the notion of scribbling out screenplays on napkins isn't terribly wild. Since 2021, he's plopped four movies in theaters, with a fifth on the way in 2025. Okay, guys like Steven Spielberg and Woody Allen have worked at a similarly furious clip for stretches of their careers, but Ritchie's flurry of films is peculiar because they're the kinds of star-studded B-movies that Hollywood doesn't make anymore. And he seems to be having a ball making them ... though audiences aren't exactly turning out in droves to watch them.
While Ritchie, like the vast majority of screenwriters, prefers to bang out his scripts on a computer, there was a time when he employed a less conventional approach. He wasn't as prolific at this point of his career, and there was a very good reason for this.

Renny Harlin’s career has come full circle, from low-budget horror and action films like Born American and Prison through blockbusters such as Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger before reverting back to budget-minded films like The Bricklayer and this film, Refuge. This time around, he’s bringing the horrors of war back home as a soldier’s encounter with the unexplained threatens the lives of everyone around him.
Sergeant Rick Pedroni is serving somewhere in Afghanistan when his unit takes a group of Taliban prisoner. Questioned about a nearby cave, they say there’s no more of them in there, in fact, none of them would go in there. Rick volunteers to check it out.

The latest trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine" suggests the movie might be even more of a cameo-fest than we'd previously predicted.
Hugh Jackman is back as Logan, of course, and he's bringing leftover characters from the erstwhile 20th Century Fox's Marvel Universe. We already knew Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Toad would be back. So will Wolverine's archenemy Sabretooth, perhaps finally giving Logan a chance at closure.
Around the 1:50 minute mark of the new trailer, you were probably focused on the decapitated head of a Giant Man variant (his rotting skull concealed within his ant-styled helmet). I'm much more curious about the characters standing beneath this makeshift base, who look to be familiar (mutant) faces from previous "X-Men" films: Yuriko Oyama/Lady Deathstrike from "X2" and Azazel from "X-Men: First Class."
Both are seen at too far a distance to determine if their previous actors...

Just like a prayer, the latest trailer for the highly anticipated "Deadpool & Wolverine" arrived this morning, showing off even more of Wade Wilson's first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If bringing the R-rated Merc with a Mouth into the Marvel Studios world wasn't enough, with all the naughtiness that entails, surely Hugh Jackman picking up Wolverine's claws again will seal the deal.
Of course, since "Deadpool & Wolverine" is bringing the characters from 20th Century Fox's universe of Marvel movies into the MCU, there are even more recognizable faces who will be popping up. Along with reports of Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra and the appearance of Pyro in the first trailer for the movie, the latest batch of footage shows off some returning characters from previous "X-Men" movies. Marvel has unveiled a new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, its upcoming R-rated comic book epic starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as our titular, foul-mouthed heroes. The trailer is soundtracked by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and full of F-bombs — including this summer’s superhero catchphrase, “Lfg.”
Directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), the film finds Deadpool (Reynolds) teaming up with a Wolverine (Jackman) — but not the Wolverine we’ve seen in past X-films. No, this one has apparently let his entire world down, which feels like a nod to the classic comics storyline Old Man Logan. And that beloved story gets referenced elsewhere in the trailer when it’s revealed that someone (Emma Corrin’s big bad Cassandra Nova?) is using a giant, dead Ant-Man as a base.
The shot of Ant-Man’s helmet opening also reveals appearances from Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu in X2: X-Men United) and...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is certainly one of the releases this year that is meant to kickstart great things. First, the movie is Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, something that fans have been asking for, well, since the MCU existed. Second, it’s part of a new strategy that aims to restore at least some of the faith that fans had in the franchise and in the studio.
Since the movie is being so hyped at this point, there’s plenty of information going around regarding the plot, cast, and overall expected appearances in the movie. We decided to gather that information in one spot and present you with a comprehensive guide on the upcoming movie so, let’s go.

"I know you think you found something out there. Or something found him..." Vertical has revealed a full official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Refuge, made by the acclaimed Finnish action filmmaker Renny Harlin - also of The Strangers; Chapter 1. Apparently he was already in Bulgaria shooting Ninja Fury when local producers contacted him about making Refuge next. After a mysterious attack from a malevolent demon during his tour of duty in Afghanistan, Sergeant Rick Pedroni returns home a changed man, and more dangerous than ever. This is similar to many other solider-returns-home-damaged films but with a supernatural Ptsd twist. The film stars Aston McAuley as Rick, Sophie Simnet as his wife Kate, Raza Jaffrey, Johanna Harlin, Shervin Alenabi, Atanas Srebrev, Max Kraus, and Jason Flemyng. This mostly looks like generic horror mashed up with a soldier story, though it does have some scary scenes in it. // Continue...

The next collaboration between Jason Statham and David Ayer (with a Sylvester Stallone script) – Levon’s Trade – is now shooting, with further casting announced.
Earlier this year we were treated to a rip-roaringly good time when director David Ayer and star Jason Statham brought us The Beekeeper. You can catch our review for that film here, but in short, it was lots of fun and following a theatrical run where it grossed north of $150m, it likely made a profit for all involved.
As such, the production companies behind The Beekeeper have once again acquired the services of Ayer and Statham and are hoping to repeat the trick once again, this time with Levon’s Trade.
As with The Beekeeper, Amazon MGM has agreed to handle distribution in the US, and none other than Sylvester Stallone has adapted the screenplay from Chuck Dixon’s novel.

Deadline reports that principal photography has kicked off on Levon’s Trade, an action thriller starring Jason Statham. The project has also added a few new members to the cast, with David Harbour (Stranger Things), Michael Peña (Narcos: Mexico), Jason Flemyng (Boiling Point) and Arianna Rivas (The Harvest) signing on to appear in Levon’s Trade.
David Ayer is directing Levon’s Trade from a screenplay by none other than Sylvester Stallone, with revisions by Ayer. The project is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Chuck Dixon. The book is the first installment of the Levon Cade series, which consists of eleven novels. With so much material, this could easily be another franchise starter for Statham.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

Exclusive: Compelling Pictures is coming on to produce and finance the high-concept psychological horror thriller The Blur, written and being directed by emerging director Joe Miale. Denis O’Sullivan and Jeff Kalligheri are producing for Compelling, alongside Scott Carr and Josh Crook. Carr brought the project to Compelling back in 2020 as a pitch and Miale wrote the script.
The film follows a visually-impaired family tormented by a ghost only seen by those who have severe myopia. It introduces a villain named Smudge to the horror pantheon, and will use innovative visual techniques–largely in-camera–to bring the terrifying character to life. Producers cited a 2021 study by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness estimated that 43 million people worldwide are considered legally blind, while 295 million people worldwide live with moderate-to-severe visual impairment. And also noted the World Health Organization has estimated that approximately 2.2 billion people worldwide have some level of near or distance vision impairment.

It’s official: Indira Varma has entered the Whoniverse – or rather, re-entered. Varma is the latest cast member announced for Doctor Who series 14, playing the mysterious ‘Duchess’ – quite the villain by the sounds of it, as Russell T Davies promises “a whole new audience will be hiding behind the settee when the Duchess unleashes her terror.”
But while these days Varma is best-known for her roles in Game of Thrones, Obi Wan and Obsession, not only has she already worked with Davies on Torchwood, she’s starred alongside a whole host of Doctor Who’s most notable alumni:
She Was Torchwood’s First Villain Back in 2006
Varma’s got form when it comes to playing lovable baddies in the Whoniverse – like Peter Capaldi, she appeared on Torchwood before her Doctor Who debut. Her character Suzie Costello was a key part of the Torchwood team, but her fear of death led...

“A Town Called Malice” on Sky Max is an experience that perfectly evokes the nostalgia of the 1980s and a charming vibrancy. The eighties-themed plot of “A Town Called Malice” is just one of the numerous elements that greatly contribute to the old wine in a new bottle allure. Every episode is titled after one of the most popular songs from that time period, such as “Cruel Summer” or “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which will undoubtedly attract aficionados of eighties music in a big way. In addition to fascinating revelations, as the plot develops, the series has a unique attractiveness thanks to its colorful cinematography and costume designs, which may compete with “Stranger Things”‘ outfit designs. The plot drags a little bit in the first six episodes, but it quickly picks up steam and makes for a fantastic viewing experience.

Is there any corner of the globe left untouched by the British crime drama? If it’s not Kenneth Branagh stalking through the inky expanses of the Swedish winter, or Roger Allam quaffing rosé in Provence, it’s Ralf Little, Ben Miller, Kris Marshall or Ardal O’Hanlon nicking killers (and evading taxes) in Guadeloupe. Now, British crime turns its attention to the Costa del Sol with A Town Called Malice (Sky Max). a pulpy, blood-soaked vision of Brits abroad. “Death arrives on the Costa,” growls the local Spanish detective. “I like it.”

If you love the 1980s – specifically, the neon-lit, Talking Heads-blaring, Delboy swagger of the 1980s Cockney – then Sky’s new crime thriller A Town Called Malice is right up your street.
Meet the Lords
Created by The Sweeney’s Nick Love, this eight-part drama centres on the Lord family, a South London gang whose criminal heyday might be behind them, but who are still up for causing trouble. After a spot of bother with a rival gang (and leaving a policeman for dead), they flee to Spain’s Costa del Sol to lay low, and in amongst the pina coladas and palm trees realise they have a chance to recapture their former glory and become criminal top dogs once more.
The series premiered on Sky Max at 9pm on Thursday 16th March, and the full box-set is already available to watch on Now.
