Deadpool & Wolverine is fast approaching, and as rumours continue to swirl about the threequel's cameos, we can discount at least one thanks to the Merc with the Mouth's co-creator, Rob Liefeld.
He's taken to X to confirm he won't be making an appearance in the long-awaited team-up movie. We saw him in 2016's Deadpool, though he later revealed he'd turned down the chance to appear in the sequel two years later.
"I hope this does not get me any grief, but no, I am not in this film," Liefeld told his followers on social media. "No, no. No complaining, I just don’t want to tease anyone, letting you know straight up. Thank you [though]."
Despite not making a physical appearance, trailers for the Marvel Studios movie have confirmed the writer and artist will at least be referenced.

Patrick Stewart and the Star Trek franchise are not too far from each other. He played the character of Jean Luc Picard for seven long seasons in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 to 1994. Stewart then went on to feature in four more movies, and recently we also saw him return to the beloved role in the series, Star Trek: Picard, which ran for three more seasons from 2020 to 2023.

But it would come as a shock to many Star Trek enthusiasts to know that Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek universe did not want Patrick Stewart to play the role of Captain Picard in Tng. And as for Stewart, when he joined the show, he did not think the show would even last the first season. He was just taking a chance to “make some money” and “get a suntan.

Patrick Stewart was a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company before he joined Hollywood in more prominent roles like Jean-Luc Picard in the iconic Star Trek franchise. This left a lasting impression on the actor on how to be serious at all times which led to some trouble on the sets of the 1987 series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

In most cases, ignoring haters is often the best way to deal with them, as engaging in any sort of dispute ends up feeding the trolls. But Star Trek icon Michael Dorn had a unique approach when it came to dealing with two haters at a convention.
Known for playing Worf in the Star Trek franchise, the actor is notable for making the most number of appearances throughout the IP’s decades-long history than any other actors. But despite being one of the most beloved characters from the franchise, like any other thing in media, Worf isn’t immune to haters, and Dorn once had the incredible opportunity to scare two of them.

From 1969 to (almost) the present, here’s a look back at every Star Trek finale to date. It’s fair to say the quality has varied over the years…
After seven years – making it the longest-running Star Trek series on television – Star Trek: Discovery came to a (relatively inauspicious) conclusion with ‘Life, Itself’. The episode therefore now enters a small coterie of stories – that of the Star Trek series finale.
Some of the examples below were born naturally from a lengthy series run. Others emerged as the climactic element of seasons’ worth of storytelling. Still others are sudden or bizarre aberrations that resulted from an unexpected cancellation. What bracket ‘Life, Itself’ fits under, you can be the judge. What’s apparent with all of these episodes is how varied they are, and how broad the tapestry of Star Trek really is.
Let’s take a look back:

In 2022, Paramount announced that filming on the new Star Trek movie would begin at the end of that year, with all of the main actors expected to return to work. The last film in the series was released in 2016, and due to its poor box office performance, the franchise went on hiatus.
All the while, Paramount was trying to figure out what to do next. Among other things, the studio wanted to give Quentin Tarantino a chance to make his own R-rated Star Trek film. It never went into production, but details about the movie are still emerging.
Tarantino Expressed His Desire to Make a Star Trek Movie in 2015
In late 2015, Quentin Tarantino was asked if he would make a Star Wars movie. The director said that Star Trek was closer to his heart. In his opinion, many episodes of the classic TV series can easily be expanded to fit the length of the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine news has been a little quiet since tickets for the movie went on sale. However, thanks to the Yellow Cab Pizza Co., we have a new look at Hugh Jackman suited up as Logan. And yes, he still isn't wearing the mask!
Weirdly, that shot of Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth appears to be a promo art rather than a live-action still. It's also new, though, and a piece of imagery which nicely contrasts the different personalities of these heroes.

In the "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" episode "As Astra per Aspera", Commander Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) faces a court-martial for lying on her Starfleet Academy application. She claimed to be a human, but was, in fact, a genetically enhanced Illyrian. Thanks to the disastrous, long-ago Eugenics Wars, genetic tinkering is strictly verboten in the world of "Star Trek." As such, lying about your genes is a particularly grievous offense. Captain Pike (Anson Mount), wanting to help his first officer, seeks out the legal aid of Neera Ketoul (Yetide Badaki), an Illyrian defense lawyer who will be brave enough to stand up to Starfleet's prosecution. Ketoul was also a childhood friend of Chin-Riley, and they have some bad blood about the latter's need to hide here identity to join Starfleet.

Notably, the episode ended on a humdinger of a cliffhanger, revealing that Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) had been assimilated by the Borg. Trekkies had to wait until September 24 to see the conclusion.
This two-parter kicked off a long-standing "Star Trek" tradition of ending every season of every show with a notable cliffhanger. The remaining "Next Generation" seasons always left viewers with something to anticipate through the summer. There was an exception at the end of the first season of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," which ended on a usual note, but the show's second season opened with an unprecedented three-part episode, so it feels like it counts.

We're expecting to see some big cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine when it arrives in theaters later this summer.
However, it would be wise to keep expectations in check; after all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured the likes of Professor X and Mister Fantastic but was somehow still deemed a disappointment by many fans (likely because rumours promised Spider-Man and an evil Iron Man played by Tom Cruise).
With that in mind, Deadpool & Wolverine might not be as star-studded as expected, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon. Still, we're bound to see some characters from the X-Men franchise's past, right?
Appearing at the London premiere for Star Wars: The Acolyte earlier this week, Logan star Dafne Keen was asked whether she's "sad" not to be reprising her role as Laura in the upcoming Marvel Studios threequel.
"Of course it's sad. I love Hugh and creatively,...

Recently, Giancarlo Esposito made news by saying he wants to play Professor X in the MCU, but without the wheelchair because he doesn’t feel that old. Fans were split on this because some still hope Patrick Stewart will be the main Charles Xavier in the MCU, even though his character died in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
At a panel on Thunder Stage at Ccxp, Esposito confirmed he’ll be in a Marvel project, but it won’t be as Professor X.
Yesterday, news broke that Giancarlo Esposito will be playing a villain in ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ This is all that’s confirmed; now the speculation begins.
Esposito has been secretive about the role, only revealing that it’s a “new” character, which could mean new to the MCU or an original character. He also mentioned that this character will get a standalone Disney+ series.

When Hugh Jackman bid farewell to Wolverine in 2017's Logan, it was unclear what 20th Century Fox had planned for the clawed mutant moving forward.
Had the Disney/Fox merger not happened (and assuming Dark Phoenix didn't bomb), the next X-Men movie would have likely shifted focus to the 2000s. Given Wolverine's popularity, we'd imagine the idea was to recast the role if not there, then definitely somewhere down the line.
Fortunately, Marvel Studios and Ryan Reynolds managed to convince Jackman to reprise the role for Deadpool & Wolverine. In an interview with People, the actor explained why he walked away from Logan in the first place.
"I had got to the point probably 10 years ago I was like, I'm not enjoying it. It was hurting. It was tough," Jackman admits. "But I've had a break, and I've been doing a lot of dance. I've been doing stage shows. And so...

With Deadpool & Wolverine set to be released in theaters this July, Marvel Comics is getting in on the fun with special variant covers featuring the characters as they'll appear in the MCU.
A special team-up story (set in the comic book Marvel Universe) titled Weapon X-Traction will run as backup tales in eight Marvel titles this summer, with each of those issues boasting movie-themed covers. The story comes our way from writer Ryan North (Fantastic Four) and atrist Javier Garrón (Avengers).
It all kicks off with July's Incredible Hulk #14 and continues through August; while that opening chapter will have a teaser variant cover that uses Garrón’s promotional art for the story, the rest boast pieces made in honour of the upcoming film. They're illustrated by some of the industry’s hottest artists including Steve McNiven, Ryan Stegman, Jorge Molina, Cafu, Declan Shalvey and David Nakayama.

Giancarlo Esposito recently confirmed that he had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but not as the character he's been campaigning to play over the past few months, Charles Xavier.
During Ccxp back in May (via Collider), Esposito revealed that he will be appearing in a Marvel Studios project, but declined to reveal any more details. The actor did say that we'd find out "sooner rather than later," and the role is "better than you can imagine."
There was some speculation that Esposito might show up in the cameo-filled Deadpool and Wolverine, but according to Mttsh, he will be making his MCU debut in an upcoming Disney+ series.
Does this narrow down the character possibilities? Not really, since we have Agatha All Along, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, and the recently announced Vision series all on the horizon, as well as more Marvel Spotlight presentations such as Wonder Man.

Deadpool & Wolverine will finally bring the Merc with the Mouth and Logan together, and while we're expecting heaps of cameos, there's one we know many of you are eager to see on screen this July.
In case it wasn't already obvious, we're talking about The Hulk. Wolverine debuted in the pages of The Incredible Hulk #180 for an unforgettable clash with the Jade Giant, and Marvel Studios now has the opportunity to recreate that somewhere in the Multiverse.
Offering us an idea of what it might look like is a new fan poster which sees Wolverine and The Hulk in the thick of battle.
As much as we'd love to see this in Deadpool & Wolverine, we wouldn't be surprised if Marvel Studios is saving this for Avengers: Secret Wars. Then again, with The Hulk brought to life with VFX, it might be easy enough to insert the Green Goliath into Wade Wilson and Logan's team-up.

Patrick Stewart was a hard sell for Star Trek: Picard since he believed that Jean-Luc Picard’s arc was finished after Star Trek: Nemesis. However, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and other creators of the series convinced him to take on the role in the series. He put a lot of consideration into committing to the project, as evident from a list of three conditions he presented to the creators.

They were obviously not thrilled about the conditions and tried to reason with the X-Men actor, who stuck to his guns. While the creators agreed to them, they did one thing that Stewart asked them specifically not to do in the conditions during the third season of the series.

Patrick Stewart was determined not to return to the Star Trek universe after his appearance in the film, Star Trek: Nemesis. He conveyed this to Alex Kurtzman when the latter met with him to pitch a series based on his character Jean-Luc Picard. Kurtzman brought along novelist Kirsten Beyer and screenwriter James Duff to convince Stewart that there was a lot to revisit in Picard’s character.

After much consideration, Stewart agreed to the series Star Trek: Picard, but not before setting a few conditions that the creators had to follow stringently. These conditions may have also sealed the fate of a potential fourth season of the series.

For some fans, the arc of X-Men as mutant outsiders fighting for their right to fit in, be represented, or at best, to co-exist beside humans, feels more real than the world they live in. As such, Professor Xavierʼs never-ending struggle to mediate, guide, lead, train, shelter, and sometimes pioneer the war against injustice and suffering also resonates among fans who see themselves as outsiders.

In Charles Xavier, the Billy Jean singer saw himself while the rest of the world associated themselves with the remainder of the X-Men.
Michael Jackson Dreamt of Playing Charles Xavier in X-Men
It is inherently foolish to disregard the iconography of Michael Jackson in modern pop culture and music.

The marketing campaign for Deadpool & Wolverine went into high gear earlier this week when tickets went on sale, but there's still a huge amount we don't know about the movie.
While there are plenty of rumours out there, the trailers have only hinted at the threequel's Multiversal elements with glimpses of the Tva and The Void. Only time will tell whether Taylor Swift dazzles us and the original X-Men return, but at least one cameo has now been confirmed.
In the latest episode of FX's Welcome to Wrexham, Rob McElhenney visits Ryan Reynolds on Deadpool & Wolverine's set to film a cameo.
The actor hides his costume beneath a robe, but there's one shot (at the 2:04 mark) where we can quite clearly see the Time Variance Authority logo on his upper chest. Reynolds even hints that he's playing one of their agents, and it's confirmed here.

During this year's CinemaCon, attendees were treated to a special Deadpool & Wolverine PSA. That featured both characters going on a foul-mouthed tirade aimed at moviegoers who don't silence their cellphones. Now, it's found its way online!
The video has started playing in theaters and hasn't been "officially" released (at least not yet). However, we have a version recorded by a fan and this thing is absolutely hilarious.
A very angry Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) makes a series of threats before being calmed down by the Merc with the Mouth (Ryan Reynolds). Things between them get weird fast, but it's clear the clawed mutant doesn't appreciate seeing someone's phone light up or start ringing during a trip to the movies.
This Variant of Logan also appears to have a short temper, something we're sure contributes to his hatred of the chatty Wade Wilson.

It’s been 10 years since X-Men: Days of Future Past hit theatres, ushering in an endgame to a universe that would not be replicated until Avengers: Infinity War, four years later. It closed the book in the older generation of X-Men that had carried the franchise until their younger variants had been introduced in X-Men: First Class.

Deadpool & Wolverine Stars Tease Cassandra Nova's "Unpredictability" And Reveal Surprise Inspiration
While we've seen a lot from Deadpool & Wolverine in recent weeks, much of the threequel is shrouded in secrecy. The latest trailer offered a glimpse at the movie's villain, Cassandra Nova, though we still don't know what she's up to in The Void.
The prevailing theory is that the twisted twin sister of Professor X hails from the same reality as Deadpool & Wolverine's Logan. If she killed the X-Men before being pruned, it would go a long way in establishing Nova as a threat to the heroes and perhaps even the wider Multiverse.
In a profile of Emma Corrin on Harper's Bazaar, the actor (who uses they/them pronouns), refuses to say too much about playing the villain but confirmed Christoph Waltz's Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds was a key source of inspiration.

Deadpool & Wolverine has all the makings of a $1 billion hit. Those have become a rarity since the pandemic and, in the eyes of many, this will be the movie that puts the Marvel Cinematic Universe back on the right track.
Fans are understandably thrilled to see the Merc with the Mouth and Logan share the screen, though there were initial concerns about bringing Hugh Jackman back into the fold after what proved to be a perfect send-off in 2017.
Logan killed the clawed mutant in a way he can't come back from. Undoing that would be nothing short of sacrilegious, but the latest trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine confirmed this is a Variant of the X-Man who somehow failed his world.
Now, the first meeting between Wade Wilson and Logan is spotlighted in a new still from the upcoming threequel.

Earlier today, we brought you news about Deadpool & Wolverine's record-breaking first day of ticket sales. The Hollywood Reporter has since crunched the numbers, revealing that those stats likely translate into roughly $8 million - $9 million in presales.
Deadline has provided further context, revealing that the movie has topped the 24-hour advance ticket sales for The Batman ($6.5 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($6 million).
Those eventually went on to make $134 million and $118.4 million during their respective 3-day opening weekends.
You likely won't be surprised to learn that Deadpool & Wolverine is now eyeing a debut of well over $100 million in North America; only time will tell whether it manages to beat Deadpool ($132.4 million) and Deadpool 2 ($125 million), particularly in this post-pandemic landscape.

We've known for a couple of years now that Marvel had plans for more than one spin-off from WandaVision. With the endlessly title-shifting Agatha All Along already on the way, the company is finally moving forward on a show focused on the ghostly version of Vision, as played by Paul Bettany in the show. And unlike the Agatha series, which was overseen by WandaVision's Jac Schaeffer, this one has been placed in the hands of Star Trek: Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas.
While Variety brings word of the show's developments, there remains little official on the plot front. It'll presumably Vision's story as the "white" Vision, who had his memories restored by original flavour Vision, as he seeks to explore his new purpose in life.
Whether Olsen might appear (mostly likely in flashback given the events of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness) remains to be seen, but Bettany is confirmed to return.

At long last, it seems the MCU is getting closer to its mutation. We’re only two months away from Deadpool & Wolverine, which in its own way will bring something of an evolutionary leap to Marvel’s cinematic DNA. The world is still raving about the stellar first season of animated show X-Men ’97. And now, there are signs that we’re getting closer to the thing fans have been really waiting for: a proper MCU X-Men movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a writer has been hired to write such a thing – and the person tasked with that almighty responsibility is Michael Lesslie.
Given the amount of secrecy around Marvel’s X-Men plans, it’s unknown what brief Lesslie has been given – but he’s currently putting pen to paper on bringing Xavier’s team to the big screen. Lesslie previously served as lead writer on Park Chan-wook...

We might finally be getting a new X-Men film as Michael Lesslie has been tapped to write a new film for Marvel.
It looks like the X-Men have come to stay in the MCU. After the disappointing Dark Phoenix, the X-Men have been laying low until we got quick teases in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels before Deadpool & Wolverine re-introduces everyone’s favourite grumpy mutant proper.
Deadline now reports that Marvel is planning a proper X-Men movie and Michael Lesslie is in negotiations to pen the script. Lesslie wrote last year’s Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, proving he can adapt someone else’s material. Lesslie has also penned the script for the new Now You See Me sequel which will be filming later this year.
The film is officially in development, but it’s still early days and there is no news...

The X-Men are one step closer to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their own movie.
Screenwriter Michael Lesslie (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”) is in talks with Marvel Studios to write the first “X-Men” movie since the mutant superhero franchise was acquired by Disney in its purchase of 21st Century Fox in 2019.
As with every Marvel Studios film, Kevin Feige will produce, but nothing else about the film has been set, including director or cast. Marvel has been slowly seeding the MCU with mutants over the past two years, including brief mentions in 2022’s “Ms. Marvel” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and appearances of the X-Men’s namesake and leader, Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), in an alternative universe in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and of Beast (Kelsey Grammer) in the post-credits sequence of 2023’s “The Marvels.”

It was announced today in the Hollywood Reporter that Simon Kinberg is taking over the development of the new "Star Trek" feature film, currently working its way through pre-production at Paramount. This new film will be the fourth to be connected to the Kelvin timeline of "Star Trek," a timeline which started with the events of J.J. Abrams' 2009 "Star Trek" film. As of this writing, Toby Haynes ("Andor") is slated to direct, while Seth Grahame-Smith has signed on to write. Kinberg is a notable Hollywood player who wrote "X-Men: The Last Stand," "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "Dark Phoenix" (among many others) and who produced "The New Mutants," "Deadpool," "Logan," "X-Men: First Class," "Cinderella," "The Martian," and "Elysium" (among many others). He is a franchise guy through-and-through, and Paramount likely wanted a new producer with high-profile experience.
