As part of his compensation from Mazda (he had a four year contract to promote Mazda's entire line of vehicles which were marketed and sold in the U.S.A.), in addition to the cash compensation portion of his contract, he was was also given one vehicle per year, a model of his choice. Over the four year contract period, he chose three different Mazda Rx-7 models (Mazda's top of the line sports car at that time), plus one different model, a Mazda pickup truck. He was known to have driven all of those vehicles frequently.
