It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s memorable — a supporting character in a TV series breaks out to such a degree that he changes the entire direction of the series. Fonzie on “Happy Days” is one example; “J.J.” on “Good Times” another. But few have had the cultural impact of cocky conservative teen Alex P. Keaton whose dynamism completely upended the direction of the 1980s NBC sitcom “Family Ties.” Designed as a “hip parents/square kids” show with an emphasis on the parents, Alex wound up becoming the character who popped with audiences, largely thanks to sharp writing by series creator Gary David Goldberg and the comic skill of young Canadian actor Michael J. Fox. Critics, audiences and the Television Academy responded strongly to Fox’s work, rewarding the actor with five Emmy nominations for the role in the 1980s, including three consecutive wins as Best Comedy Actor.

The year was 1989 when Michael Keaton first donned the cape and cowl for Tim Burton’s Batman, Cher wanted to turn back time, and Marty McFly bungled the most sure-fire get-rich-quick scheme in cinematic history in Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future Part II.
After the monumental success of Back to the Future, Univeral Studios approached Robert Zemeckis about creating a sequel to his film that had quickly become a pop culture touchstone. Hesitant about capturing lightning in a bottle twice, Zemeckis said he wouldn’t make the film unless Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd returned as Marty McFly and Doc Brown, respectively. Thankfully, both were game to gas up the DeLorean and push the speedometer to 88mph for another excursion through time. With Fox and Lloyd confirmed, Zemeckis arranged his ceremonial objects to summon his writing partner, Bob Gale, to determine where Marty and Doc would travel next.

Back to the Future is one of the most iconic films of all time. It managed to completely change the sci-fi genre forever, gained popularity in a way that was unheard of, and started a wave of influence and inspiration that can be felt in Hollywood to date. While the film series, as a whole, has had this effect, there is no denying that the first film always stands out the most.

Science-fiction films have never been cheap to make, and the 1985 film was no different in this regard. However. it would seem that the first film could have been even more expensive had it gone for the original ending.

Before Back to the Future got its wholesome ending, the film was supposed to end in a much darker tone.

While war movies are always hard to watch, especially when you know they are based on real events that took place decades ago and there are families that have never recovered from their losses, it is an extremely important genre that shows its viewers the horrors and devastation that any military conflict brings.
What makes these films so interesting from an industry perspective is the technical detail, costume and set design, CGI and editing that takes the picture to another level and makes it feel realistic. When amazing storytelling meets great execution, you get masterpieces like Casualties of War.
What Is Casualties of War About?
Directed by Brian De Palma, Casualties of War chronicles the events of the 1966 Hill 192 incident during the Vietnam War, one of many crimes committed by the U.S. Army against Vietnamese civilians. Starring Michael J. Fox and Sean Penn, the film tells the story through the eyes of a veteran.

Back to the Future star Lea Thompson stated that her mainstream film career ended after she had her kids. Thompson was a rising star through the 1980s but she was pushed to TV roles in the ’90s. Thompson found success in her role as Lorraine McFly in Robert Zemeckis’ three-part time travel flick. Before that, she was Tom Cruise’s pair in the 1983 film, All the Right Moves.

Rick and Morty has amassed a strong fan following, particularly among the millennials. However, many would be surprised to know that the sci-fi adult animated show shares a notable connection with Christopher Lloyd’s Back to The Future series. The movie follows an eccentric older man and a teenager who embark on a time-traveling adventure with the help of their hi-tech vehicle.

Primarily due to its character inspirations and thematic elements, the animated show was conceived out of Lloyd’s movie parody, The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti. The film franchise star, in an old interview, addressed the same, confirming how the animated series shares a great connection with the sci-fi trilogy.

The 80s and 90s were a great time for character actors. Guys like Gene Hackman, Brian Dennehy, Christopher Walken, John Lithgow, Morgan Freeman and many others occupied this really interesting place where they could lead their own movies and be just as comfortable playing supporting roles – whether large or small – in bigger films without worrying about things legit movie stars have to, such as bankability. Of that era, one of the biggest character actors was no doubt the fast-talking James Woods. In the eighties, his star rose thanks to movies like Videodrome, Salvador, True Believer and many others. While he never became a legit box office superstar, he was in that niche place where he could lead his own movies, such as the underrated Best Seller, while also playing plum supporting roles in movies like Chaplin, The Specialist and Casino. He was noted as one of the town’s biggest scene-stealers,...

As everyone knows, Tom Cruise leads an action-packed life akin to that of a movie star. The actor enjoys a good thrill, and he performs almost all of his own stunts. And it was his dedication that led him to accept one of his most prominent roles, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, in the 1986 action flick Top Gun.
So, in the case of this Paramount Pictures film, the actor had an unusual demand that ultimately saved the film from disaster. Well, after a less-than-ideal experience working with director Ridley Scott on the movie Legend, Cruise was understandably cautious about committing to a new project.
When producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer approached him with the script for Top Gun, Cruise liked it but felt that it “needed some work”.

Larry David’s beloved comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is gearing up for a grand showing at the Primetime Emmys. The 12th and final season of the HBO/Max series has submitted for 35 nominations, including the top prize for outstanding comedy series.
Playing a fictionalized version of himself, David is again vying for the lead comedy actor category. He hopes to unseat last year’s winner and current frontrunner, Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear.” Though David is a two-time Emmy winner for writing and creating “Seinfeld,” he has yet to win as an actor despite six nominations, the last of which came in 2008.
Supporting actors J.B. Smoove, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, two-time former nominee Cheryl Hines and Tracey Ullman will also compete in the main acting categories, as well as a posthumous submission for Richard Lewis, who died in February.

One of the most adapted authors in history, Stephen King yet has a significant experience with movies proving that he has developed his critical eye over the years of dealing with filmmakers.
Though he’s mostly known as a cinephile who doesn’t follow the mainstream preferring to crash the movies that everyone adores, King still left everyone bewildered when admitted he hadn’t enjoyed Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, but nonetheless gave it a credit saying there are some worse movies out there.
Several years ago King revealed that he’s not into “narcissistic stuff like Kill Bill” calling the film’s opening part a “blah movie”, but then proceeded with some kind of weird compliment for Tarantino’s hit saying that “isn’t a benchmark of awfulness” comparing it to Mars Attacks! or Mommie Dearest.

One of the most successful models in the world and known for her incredible height, Heidi Klum is 5 feet 9 inches (175.3 cm).
While she has playfully remarked in a TVGuide chat that she’s “5′ 9 1/2”, she confessed in a February 2005 Allure Magazine interview that she’s 5 feet 9 inches but tends to add an extra half inch due to the common practice of others exaggerating their height.

There are not many stars who can match the love commanded by Taylor Swift from her fans. The singer has seen it all, an ascent to fame that would see her rise to the top of the industry, a fall that would leave her scarring for quite some time, and a resurgence people will speak tales of. She really is an icon.
The chronicles of Taylor Swift are never-ending. Even though she has found herself on the wrong side of the media at times, that has not dampened her prospects even a little. Her recent achievement is a testament to how the surrounding noise matters little to Swift (and Swifties).

Ryan Gosling’s recently released film, The Fall Guy, has put Taylor Swift’s music in the 2024 movie and people are confused. With the film based on stuntmen and women who risk their lives every day for 2 minutes of action on-screen, a Taylor Swift song seems out of the blue.
But the music supervisor and producer Kelly McCormick (who’s a Swiftie) talked about the song’s importance in the film and how it plays out. Having Gosling as the sacrificial stuntman in the film who loses all, a Swift song from her album Red seems perfect.

How Ryan Gosling Cried To Taylor Swift’s Song In The Fall Guy!
Being a story about stuntmen and women, the action sequences are obviously terrific. The promotion of the film had real stuntmen breaking through a glass door while Ryan Gosling walked before them.

"They blew up Congress! Haha!" Do you remember this one? Or do you remember not going to see this one? Back in '96, one of the hotly anticipated movies of the year was Tim Burton's wacky sci-fi comedy Mars Attacks! He'd just directed Ed Wood before and everyone was waiting to see him take that zaniness and make his own alien comedy, opening in December before the holidays. But perhaps he went a bit too zany? Because this one bombed and most people hated it. The film is a parody of other sci-fi B movies. Earth is invaded by Martians with unbeatable ghastly weapons and a cruel sense of humor. Produced & directed by Tim Burton, but not written by him. Starring Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Martin Short, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael J. Fox, and Danny DeVito, among others. The filmmakers hired Ilm to create the...

Television shows seem well-organized and choreographed. Yet, not everything about them always goes according to plan.
For example, an incidental character sometimes steals a scene and creates memorable television history.
Then, there are the characters who take things a step further by stealing scenes repeatedly until they become the stars themselves.
Particular characters, such as Dr. Gregory House on House, are often created to be standouts. Yet, occasionally, those main protagonists are entirely overshadowed.
In rare instances, characters who were supposed to be incidental became regulars and took over entire shows.
The Fonz on Happy Days (1974-1984)
Happy Days underwent several changes, including the recasting and eventual disappearance of Chuck Cunningham's character, but Arthur (The Fonz) Fonzarelli's addition most dramatically altered the show's trajectory.
Initially, Happy Days focused on the Cunningham family, especially teenager Richie (Ron Howard). The Fonz (Henry Winkler) was a side character. However, the motorcycle-riding, leather jacket-wearing greaser soon took over.

Colman Domingo never imagined he would be “a 100 of anything.”
“The fact that I’m one of the 100 most influential people in the world feels like I have a lot to live up to, and I want to because I don’t take that lightly,” Domingo told Variety on the red carpet at the Time100 Gala Thursday night. “The fact that someone in some committee believed that I’m impacting many people on this planet, I feel like now the work begins even more so. I know that I have to be even more mindful and thoughtful about how I create and the work that I do.”
Hosted by Taraji P. Henson at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City, the Time100 Gala celebrated this year’s most influential figures across film, sports, music and more, including Domingo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, 21 Savage, Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson, Fantasia Barrino and Henson herself.

Science fiction has such flexibility and breadth as a genre that it should come to no surprise that so many popular sci-fi movies get released worldwide year after year. With so many sci-fi projects crowding the cinema and various streaming services, it's easy to miss some hidden gems in the genre that don't enjoy the same publicized fanfare. This oversight affects even the most critically acclaimed sci-fi movies which, despite the buzz, don't always get the general audience awareness they truly deserve.
From indie darlings to foreign films that don't receive major attention during their international distribution, there are plenty of overlooked sci-fi movies. For the purposes of this list, we've narrowed it down to movies that have scored exceptionally high with critics' scores on Rotten Tomatoes, but don't seem to have the wider viewership or recognition, even among sci-fi fans. Imagine your past dark moments in life being used as a joke in front of thousands of people while you sit in the audience unable to do anything.
That’s exactly what happened last month March 10 at the 2024 Oscars which took place at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
At the 96th Academy Awards, the host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Jimmy Kimmel had the honor to host the event but during his opening monologue, Jimmy dropped some very uncomfortable comments about the “Iron Man” Robert Downey Junior’s well-known substance abuse past.
While the actor who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding performance as Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer” didn’t say anything concerning Jimmy’s jokes, he finally broke his silence in a recent interview with “Esquire” published April 8.
It turns out that although Robert looked uncomfortable at the Oscars during Jimmy’s jokes, he didn’t take it to heart.
