Reginald the Vampire (2022)
An excellent pisstake on tired old "beautiful" vampires
Those worried about the fatshaming early on, it's totally the point that the vampires are out of date vain (vein, ha!) elitist jerks.
The show is _not_ picking on Reginald, it's picking on _them_.
It's a parody and comedy of older vampire shows, full of tiny cool touches.
Sure, some things could be done better, but have you _seen_ B Grade Horror like most Vampire stories?
I find it laughable that people can complain about the acting and writing in this but claim they are fans of vampire stories!
This is a self aware mockery of the bad writing and acting on _purpose_ and mostly the vampires act like vampires in old B-grade stories, but the humans and Reginald don't.
Pandora (2019)
Good background watching
Sure the other reviews have points, but I didn't come here looking for the "next big thing". It's ok no stress watching. There were tons of worse scifi shows in the 80s and 90s but now we get to _pick_ what we watch instead of being stuck with whatever is on. So now people rate everything at 10 or 1 and little in between.
This is average, it's not as bad as they say. I'm watching while playing computer games and it's perfect for that. And sometimes that's exactly what I want!
The Dwarves of Demrel (2018)
Understated and solid as a dwarven movie should be.
This is an original and currently fairly unique addition to fantasy.
Real people's lives, not stupid adventurers with no substance.
I know they put dragon in the title for marketing but it _hurts_ it, takes it away from it's slow building core.
Everything about this is done well.
Not big. Not flashy. Reliable. How many more Dwarven descriptions can we fit in?
I want more of this world, but somehow without losing the charm...
Runaways (2017)
Adds to comics doesn't detract
The reviews are largely shallow and awful, the show is not.
I loved the comics, the thing is... If you've read them you KNOW the basic twist...
In the comics the parents are caricatures, but by fleshing them out properly and having conflict between the different parents between the different kids and between the kids and their parents this show takes just the start of the comics and turns it into a properly developed thing.
The show NEEDED this. The 2nd season will be the comic series, the first season is a NEEDED fleshing out of the beginning of the comics and it makes it the perfect thing for a whole family to watch as there are layers for everyone.
It's one of my favourite of the Marvel TV shows in terms of enjoyment.
Legacies (2018)
Hoping for excellence...
Vampire Diaries and The Originals both did one thing other shows don't, cram an entire season of plot for a normal show into every two episodes... If you didn't like something just keep watching and it'd change! I hope this does that too... I love the world and this starts off great, a nice mix of characters and Alaric is a great anchor to choose for it. Very natural conflicts in place, nothing forced. Next episode decides for sure!
