Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Totally Blown Away
I can't top the other reviews apart from this is truly fantastic and worth every penny to go see in the iMax 3D...never thought it would be possible to shed a tear at the end of a Marvel film..
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Perfectly balanced, just what we needed!
It's so cool when you can binge watch a show you forgot about and a bonus that it was great. I done the whole 10 episodes in one hit and absolutely enjoyed every minute.
The plot throughout was twisty, snappy and fun, sweeping in all directions with unfolding mini stories to fill in the gaps. The cast were ideal and really like how their powers were not the focus of the series, which is where the balance comes into play. Great editing and music selection also contribute towards this epic series that will be a must watch for any comic fan out there.
Huge mention to the very talented Robert Sheehan whom really made this character what it was in the series with hints of his past Misfits character throughout...brilliant. Also, Aidan and Tom really stepped up...hat's off fellas.
Anyway, why are you reading this when you should be getting stuck into episode 1...go on, shoo!
The Predator (2018)
The Legacy is dead
Such a shame that the continuation of this great storyline has been butchered!!
Produced just to squeeze some money out of the fans by people that have no creative vision or the will to write something of worth.
Shame on you!!
Mr Inbetween (2018)
Season 1 - Excellent
Just finished watching all 6 episodes and was clapping at the end. If you get aussie humour and their way of life, then you will enjoy this start to finish.
If Tarrantino made a TV series in australia with a dash of breaking bad, then this would be it. Roll on season 2.....
Self/less (2015)
Good idea but predictable
Every now and again you get a movie that just about ticks all the boxes and makes you feel OK about paying your hard earned cash to see it. Well this is one of those movies...
Plenty of twists at the beginning with an interesting immortality plot, but as you gradually get absorbed into it, you start to realise how the movie will play out half way through, sadly it took that course, which is a little disappointing.
Overall the film contained a lot of successful elements mixed into the movie which has been done before....and that's not a bad thing, as Reynolds and Goode just about pulled it off.
Not one for the girlies but definitely worth watching.
Straight Outta Compton (2015)
Express yourself!
If you enjoyed listening to controversial gangster rap and hip hop back in the day, then this is the movie for you.
The plot follows NWA from start to finish, with reasonable acting and an easy to follow storyline about the groups career. More importantly, the music was on form throughout, no matter how morally wrong the lyrics were. Plenty of violence, political controversy and enough cussing to sink a fleet of impala's, if that's your thang.
In short, the movie was worth watching, but question the accuracy of the events throughout, however, if you take them with a pinch of salt then you will enjoy it for what it is.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Avengers Evolve
From start to finish, this movie ticked all the boxes you would expect from a classic Marvel sequel, but definitely worth watching with friends or with the kids.
In short, the movie was mostly of good quality, with a large scoop of action, effects and mild humour to carry you through the somewhat unexpected but interesting storyline.
The introduction of several new characters in the film was a little bit vague, which I found annoying. Marvel have forgotten that getting to know a characters inner self and abilities in-depth, is the key part of being a Marvel fan!!
Great film, but stop slacking with the detail.!!
Fantastic Four (2015)
Not so Fantastic..!!!
What can be said that's not been mentioned above. I think my main disappointment was watching the very talented Miles Teller limit his ability in such a drab movie that really done him no favours.
Overall the movie was poorly put together like a mismatched jigsaw and written in a very typical lets start again type fashion, which for avid Marvel fans injected a very large dose of bore factor for a majority of the film.
What really annoyed me was the fact that Marvel obviously gave up on the film after the first 15 minutes and to top it, they didn't even put in a trailer at the end of the 10 minute credits. A big 'OMG' was shouted out in the movie theatre by the few that remained!! The kids will enjoy it but for seasoned Marvel'ers, send the gf/wife instead and don't waste 100 minutes of your life!!
