Fantom kiler 2 (1999 Video)
In praise of Fantom Kiler 2
2 March 2004
The Fantom Kiler series really seems to divide opinions, (Then again so does Harry Potter). I preferred Fantom Kiler 1 to Fantom Kiler 2 (Slightly) - even though the sequel has some strong scenes. This is not a film aimed at hard gore fanatics, it is much more than that. For me it works as an erotic giallo-esque fantasy and has some nice photography, great looking women (who take their clothes off ... A LOT) and some brilliant soundtrack themes (I event bought the CD). I can't wait for number 3 to come out on DVD.

Some people say that Fantom Kiler has no plot. Well if the tale about a misogynistic hatred being manifest into a monster that does it's creator bidding is no plot then what plot has Friday the 13th? I think the idea is pretty original, but maybe too subtle for most teenage gorehounds to grasp, I fear. This is a a film for more mature audiences who appreciate the finer things in film making.

Bring on Fantom Kiler 4!!!

The downfall of Jess Franco
25 June 2003
Killer Barbies (1996) was a half decent film (thanks to the band of the same name and Santiago Segura) but even then one could see that Senor Franco was starting to lose his touch. Since then his films have become exponentially worse. Everything that fans liked about Franco movies has been thrown out. All that is left is an Indecipherable mess of gawky ex-scream queens, awful Subterfuge grunge music and pathetic product placement (T-shirts, posters on the wall, etc), cheapo video effects, flacid nude scenes and some very poor acting. No knew Howard Vernons to be found here, I'm afraid, and as for a Soledad Miranda - forget it. "Mari-Cookie and the Killer Tarantula" is not barely watchable - its totally unwatchable.

Fantom kiler (1998 Video)
Read Between the lines
23 June 2003
I'm amazed that some people are so negative towards the Fantom kiler series. I think Roman Nowicki is filling a gap in the market. Which is for a stylish, European style fantasy horror with erotic situations. All too often these days the horror world relies on the U.S for this kind of thing (New Jersey in fact). And basically all the films look the same, and seem to star the same starlets. Fantom Kiler has its own feel, a very different pacing. If it is shot on video it has a very nice look to it (Better than many films actually shot on film). If it is a low budget production then I doesn't look like one. Girls of that caliber don't come cheap, you know. And how many low budget films re-create an entire indoor woodland scene these days? I know of none. Even the music is a cut above the average with more than one catchy theme. I would much prefer to watch a Fantom Kiler than a Scrapbook or a Necrofiles.
