Transporter 3 (2008)
I'm not ADD
so I wish they wouldn't use the "slice and dice" editing during the fight scenes.
I couldn't grab a hold and get immersed.
The fight scenes are the best part of the series. Yet, once again, copying the Bourne style of editing creates and ineffective movie experience.
Story was cool, script was fun. Watching the making of at least made the fights interesting. Can't wait until someone realizes that not all fans are from the MTV generation!
Was it a good movie? Uhm, well are they really "Good" movies, not in the Oscar sort of way, however they're helluva lot of fun.
Unleashed (2005)
film noir and massive attack
The style of this movie and how the story unfolded makes me rank this an 8. As a fan of massive attack I was taken by how dark and edgy the texture of the movie became due to their soundtrack.
It's obvious that the production team of Luc Besson's has a larger budget to work with. And they are exploring ways to tell an action story. Transporter 1 was better than 2 because of the soundtrack. And here again the music compliments the emotional content.
Granted, some of the characters and scenes did appear amateurish, but the pieces are being put together. If the production team keep going, they'll strike the right chord.
And yes, Jet Li is beginning to evolve as an actor, which I suspected after watching Lethal Weapon 4 again. He's the best thing in that movie.
However, this movie does require an appreciation for the medium and not just a need for escapism.
