Dragonball Evolution (2009)
If you have any respect for Dragonball...don't see this!!
First let me start by saying I have been a Dragon ball fan for almost all of my life and it it by far my favorite anime series. I greatly respect Akira Toriyama for his amazing work. With that said, When I first heard about the development of a live action version of dragon ball I instantly thought it was a bad idea and feared it would rape the series....and it did. I started watching this movie with such low expectations that I figured I might be able to find a few good things and laugh at the attempts to make this movie. As i watched it I became so enraged and confused at how much you could mess something so big and clear cut up. I guess they were going for realism but this is dragon ball here, the fans don't want realism, they want what they have grown up with and love about the series and none of it it here. The fight scenes in the movie are terribly done and hard to watch. The best fight scene was between Goku and the bullies from school and he didn't even throw a punch. The studio spent one of the highest amount of money on special effects ever and it seems like a student did it. The ki blasts look like fireballs with smoke around them. The kamehameha wave doesn't even look like energy, it looks like a spray of water shooting from Goku's hands. All the characters in the movie were messed up. I mead how f***ing hard is it to make Bulma???? And Piccolo??? I just don't understand how the actors after reading the manga and then the script would really do this. Its almost painful to see this movie. The most disturbing thing in my view of this movie is when Oozaru the giant ape is shown. The transformation is done very wrong and it looks like a man in a suit.
If i could rate this movie a -10 out of 10 i would. If you do see this don't say i didn't warn you!
Dragon Ball (1995)
One Hell of a show!
I have to say that Dragonball is by far my Favorite series of all time. Its the show that got me into anime and I cant wait to buy all the seasons remastered when they come out.
The Dragonball story is goofy, fun, and all around brilliant! It throws great humor with huge action and you cant beat it. I started Dragonball by reading the manga when I was younger and still love them and the show is just as good if not better! Sure, some stuff form the manga has been taken out of the show but thats because some of that is more mature(nudity) then would be for the audience.
All in all, Dragonball is one show you need to see in it entirety to feel its greatness. I recommend it to everyone because its that good and every age can enjoy it. From the silly monkey boy to the perverted Turtle Hermit, its all out fun.
10-10
Doragon Bôru Ossu! Kaette Kita Son Gokû to Nakama-tachi!! (2008)
Dragonball Forever!
I have been watching Dragonball since it first aired in the U.S. back in the 90's and Its my favorite show of all time. I have every episode of Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and the not so good Dragonball GT. I have been waiting for something new in Dragonball for 11 years now and I was not disappointed.
The new special is just what the Dragonball Fans have been waiting for. It has good old humor between Goku and Vegeta that I loved.
The movie is a special on Akira Toriyama's view on what happened after Majin Buu was defeated. It introduces some new faces such as vegetas brother tarble and the evil duo Abo and Cado. A Dragonball style fight occurs and all is well in the end. The animation is all up to par with the newer animes today and it just has a great feel to it.
I was only disappointed in the length of the special, It is only about 33 min long. But hopefully this is the start of some new Dragonball to come from Toriyama.
I give it a 9/10 and recommend it to any true Dragonball fan!
Dragon Ball Z (1996)
Best Show of all Time!
I know saying DBZ is the best show ever is a bold statement but its very true. "Its been called the greatest action cartoon of all time, and its true". Dragonball Z has a strong story and powerful character development. I have watched this show since it first came to the US in the 90's and I have seen every episode and own almost all of them.
I have tried watching other anime such as Naruto, bleach, etc but none of them hold the shear strength that DBZ has. The fights are epic and the story and characters are great. DBZ is not 100% perfect but no show is. The early episodes had a lot of useless talking but that changed fast and now its all action and some witty talking.
All in all Dragonball Z is the best anime and show ever and if you disagree, then feel free to talk to me about it.
10-10
Transformers (2007)
Way better then I expected!
Transformers is an old and lovable Franchise first as a toy then a TV series in the 80's and 90's. I have been a fan of Transformers since I was a small child and I own the 1987 movie(I love it). I always thought a Live Action Transformers film would be a cool idea but would never live up to the original cartoon...but I was wrong.
Transformers was an epic movie for all ages, Transformers fan or not, and has a great blend of humor and action. Oh, the special effects in this movie are the best I have ever seen, PERIOD! When the transformation from vehicle to robot starts you can see every little gear move and go into place..Flawless!
One of the best things they did for this movie was bringing Peter Cullen in for the original voice of Optimus Prime. I remember that voice perfectly from the show and its just so refreshing to hear again.
The only Reason I did not give this movie a 10-10 was because the character development and interactions of the Decepticons was lame but I guess they can do more of that in the sequel.
9-10
Iron Man (2008)
An Amazing Movie in all respects....Movie and Comic wise!
This Film is Easily the best Comic to film adaptation there is period. The Acting is great and Downy Jr. is perfect for the role of Tony Stark. The CGI is the best I have seen and rivals Transformers, and thats an achievement in itself. The story is well put and the mixture of humor, action, and a little drama is just epic.
I have been a Iron-man fan boy for 10 years now and Im very pleased to say this movie does everything right. If you didn't enjoy this movie, you are not paying enough attention. It defeats the X-men, Ghost Rider, Fantastic four, Bat-man, and all other Super hero based movies with ease.
I recommend this film to the highest degree and its a must see. Easily the best movie of 08.
10-10
But remember, this is just my opinion.
Fainaru fantajî sebun adobento chirudoren (2005)
An Epic and must see...
First of all, I am a huge Final Fantasy VII fan and didn't think this movie would due justice to it...but man, was I wrong! This has become one of my all time favorite movies and by far the best video game based film ever made to date.
If you are a fan of FF and you haven't seen this....What are you doing?
I loved the entire movie with a passion and bought the collectors set.
I would have liked to see more of the other characters other than cloud and Tiffa but ill live.
I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a great movie. Watch it with your friends!
10 out of 10 easy!!!
Donnie Darko (2001)
"Just to good for words..."
OK, I first saw this movie with a few friends of mine while on a camping trip and I was totally not into the movie at the time but thought it was OK anyway. A few weeks later I watched it again, and again, and again. I have never seen a movie as well done as this one and trust me, I've seen many movies(I work at a movie theater).
The Plot is just so well done and complex that it literally makes you watch it over and over again. You will find a plot around Time travel, Changing Destiny, Facing your inner demons, there are so many ways to interpret it....
I will recommend this move to anyone looking for a new, unique, and fun(even funny) film even with its R rating...
Good job Donnie.....Good job...
