Tuhan, Izinkan Aku Berdosa (2023)
the rulers who are insincere. cloaked in Islam with deceit full of hypocrisy.
One of the must-watch shows this year. This film broadens the understanding and perspective of Islam itself, unveiling the pure evil of how a pious and devout figure is actually full of deceitful hypocrisy, using their power to engage in dirty dealings with someone to fulfill they desire.
The audience is made to feel a whirlwind of emotions with every scene presented. We share Kiran's anguish as she fights for her life, feel her heartbreak from being betrayed, and experience satisfaction when she exacts her revenge.
The film also opens the viewers' eyes to the fact that those in high positions who appear to be good may not truly be good. There is always some evil hidden behind the carefully crafted image.
Tarot (2024)
from the cards that bring misery to your life TENSE ATMOSPHERE
The story revolves around a group of friends who accidentally unleash a malevolent force by violating the rules of Tarot readings, leading to a series of deadly encounters.
The PG-13 rating has been particularly criticized, as it limits the film's potential for delivering truly impactful horror scenes. Despite an intriguing premise, the movie falls into the trap of relying heavily on predictable jump scares, diminishing its overall effectiveness as a horror film
If you're a fan of horror and curious about the adaptation, it might be worth a watch, but be prepared for a film that doesn't fully capitalize on it's eerie concept.
Trigun Stampede (2023)
This show is perfect for newcomers who haven't followed the previous series.
Trigun is one of those anime that stands out in terms of concept, characters, and storyline. These three aspects make it beloved by its fans. The strong western vibe, evident in the character names and cowboy concept, makes this anime comparable to Cowboy Bebop in my opinion.
Personally, I don't have an issue with character design. However, if I had to choose, I would prefer the old design because it's very iconic. That said, the change in character design might be related to the use of 3D animation. The studio might have opted for a new design to better align with the animation style, but this is just my assumption as an outsider.
The storyline is profoundly engaging, presented in a relaxed manner and occasionally interspersed with witty humor. Additionally, the non-monotonous CGI animation keeps viewers from getting bored. This show is perfect for newcomers like me who have just discovered Trigun.
Lahn mah (2024)
highly recommended for a relaxing weekend watch.
No matter how much you try to hold back the tears, it's likely that wall will crumble at the ending, set against the backdrop of a pickup truck delivering a farewell so beautifully. A question arises while watching that scene. Are the tears falling because the film is well-made, or simply because viewers (myself included) immediately relate the events on screen to personal memories?
The answer is "both." How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies feels relatable because it deeply understands family dynamics, especially in Asian families. How inheritance can erase affection, how gathering at grandma's house is a warm moment always anticipated, how the grandma eagerly awaits the arrival of her children and grandchildren while wearing her best clothes, and how the loneliness after togetherness feels so piercing, especially for the elderly living alone. The memories of all those moments together are the truly valuable legacy.
