Hollywood Squares: Episode dated 16 September 2002 (2002)
Hollywood Squares - Septembet 16, 2002 (Season 5 premiere)
The September 16, 2002 episode of Hollywood Squares (with Tom Bergeron) is the first episode of season 5. Starting with season five, it debuts a complete new set & the new H2 logo; also, the show's new theme song is a remix version of the Teena Marie song "Square Biz". Also beginning with season five of Hollywood Squares, Jeffrey Tambor is the new announcer, in addition to still being a semi-regular panelist, while Henry Winkler (who will be guest announcer for some weeks of that season) & Michael Levitt are the new executive producers. Another thing that debuts in season 5 is a brand new bonus round, which has a grid of nine keys (in order to win a vacation, a safe full of money or a new car).
Hollywood Squares: Episode dated 18 May 2004 (2004)
Hollywood Squares - May 18, 2004
This May 18, 2004 episode in season 6 of Hollywood Squares began with a tiebreaker game in the best two-of-three match, between returning champ Ted (who won his four-time total of $96,472 yesterday) and his challenger Lea.
On this episode, Ted Wells was the first and only contestant to reach the final bonus round prize of season six (a trip around the world), but didn't win it. However, Ted succeeded winning the first 4 prizes, which were a $10,000 vacation in Paris, the $10,000 cash (shown in a British currency on episode four of "It Just Ain't Right" Week), a $40K Ford Thunderbird car & the $25,000 cash.
Hollywood Squares: Episode dated 15 September 2003 (2003)
Hollywood Squares - September 15, 2003
The September 15, 2003 episode of Hollywood Squares (with Tom Bergeron) is the sixth episode of season 6 and it's also the first episode to have a best-two-of-three match format.
For the original season six episodes only (minus theme weeks), Hollywood Squares brought back the best-two-of-three match format with each game being worth $1,000. First person to win 2 games wins $2,000 and automatically advances to the bonus round. That means matches can (and often) straddle episodes.
The "nine keys" bonus round from season 5 stays the same in season six, but with a new prize structure.
The new prize structure for season six is as followed:
1. Vacation (worth over $10,000)
2. $10,000 cash
3. Luxury car (worth over $40,000)
4. $25,000 cash
5. Trip around the world.
