Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer (2023)
What an uncreative way to make fun of minorities
Boring, dull, uncreative, predictable, why is he famous?
What an uncreative way to make fun of minorities and feeling good with himself. He is just so self-absorbed he did not concede, not a glimpse of regret, of the potential harm his jokes are doing to the whole polarisation in his society.
As a non American, I do care what happens in its society and wish comedians would take accountability about the impact they have on society.
The show doesn't make you think, is not smart but instead a bunch of stories of other famous people or weak and offensive impersonations of discriminated people like disabled, gay, trans, etc. As a member of a minority he should know better.
Provocative is not the word to describe his humour. His style is just too basic.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
So bad it's good.
Woooooooooooooooooow, I actually can't believe this movie has such high rating. I'd love to speak with someone who rated this movie with 9 or 10 stars. The movie was so bad it made me laugh.
Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
Great second part
I actually wanted to review this film just because I have read so many reviews saying that it wasn't as good as the first one when I actually see this film as a natural continuation and therefore impossible to separate from the first volume. I absolutely love the fights and the blackmamba scene is just precious.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
What a joke
If you catalogue this series in any gender, it would be Awful. It is really confusing whether the creators aiming for a thriller, or just a comedy. Anyways, it was a waste of time. Give me my hours of life back pls.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Blood, Swords, Blood, Soundtrack, Blood, Feet, and more Blood!
I do not get the complaints about the gallons of fake blood spent in this movie, I think they are key! It is the identity of the movie: It actually makes the movie great to show and exaggerated non realistic amount of blood. It makes the fights fun and even funny to watch (am I a sociopath? Lol). The soundtrack is a gem and every single story behind the characters were smart, relevant, and fun!
Congratulations, Tarantino.
Flugt (2021)
Very well done
Please don't expect an American-style obvious Disney style animated movie. With this movie you'll be able to empathise with the main character in a very strange level. Because you engage in a very emotional level, sometimes you forget it is animated. Anger, fear, frustration, loneliness, a feeling of scarcity, fragility, but also pride and owning his story. This docu-animation made me laugh and cry, and reminding me I can connect with something it didn't remotely happen to me through an animated movie is something I have to admit it is not easy. Bravo!
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Beautiful and moving
It was quite confusing and annoying to understand the meaning and how were all these stories connected when watching it the first time.
However, every time I rewatch it (and it has been many) there is something about the characters that bring me comfort, curiosity. It also shows me something new and depending on my mood is which story I pay more attention to.
I think is a pity this movie is so underrated, make up, storyline and special effects are so well done (for that time of course).
I'll keep rewatching it until I die.
The Matrix (1999)
Don't wanna hype it but... Best movie of all times lol
Ok, this movie is just insanely well done, best of the Wachowski sisters hands down. You can take this story and make an analogy to so many cases in society and that is the reason why it will remain relevant for so many years I reckon.
IF I had to say something about the movie was the NEO character, Keanu Reeves didn't do a great job there.
Trinity is the most underrated character and I love her, we should be more thankful to her exquisite performance.
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
Masterpiece
What a masterpiece, really. Specially both neighbours, great characters. Despite the fact the main character is incredibly passive in the decisions of her life and baby, which I suppose it was normal for that time, she successfully transmitted a sense of hopelessness and frustration when she starts realising everything. Weirdly enough, it's one of my comfort movies.
Madres paralelas (2021)
Underwhelming
An underdeveloped political story and a too long and tedious unrelated story. Was quite flat. Maybe I am being too harsh because it's been nominated for the Oscars and its director is one of my favorites. Being a big fan of Almodóvar, I have to say it didn't meet my expectations. Though I still think it's worth watching.
Also, what the actual F?, reading other users' reviews being super confused about a woman having homosexual AND heterosexual intercourse... as if it was something impossible? Really, guys, you can't just rate poorly a movie based on your lack of education.
