Zoolander (2001)
Zoolander is deeper than we think
Yep, Zoolander is deeper than we think. I stand by this as it is a movie that makes fun of the celebrity obsessed culture we live in. You can be a genious and nobody cares but if you have some/any sort of notoriety and a million followers you are a hot commodity. Zoolander (not derek, the film) knows this and pokes at it. Sadly, this is lost on most who just enjoy the sillyness.
Office Space (1999)
great and fun and sad and true
This should have done better because it's hilarious. It just tells you how dumb audiences are. This is a window into the world. Morons who don't get the humor are morons.
Idiocracy (2006)
this is a documentary!
So, this is one of those films that on the surface offers silly stupid humor, but when you see it for the subtaxt and an observation on our world it becomes profound, and that's freakin scary. Watch this in combo with Being There and Reboot Camp and you'll understand why we are where we are.
Reboot Camp (2020)
follow leader, leader, dear leader (at your own peril)
I discovered this through the Austin film fest and it was't what I expected but not a bad surprise. The faux documentary format works really well for the story, which is about a fake guru running a fake cult. Great appearances by Ed Begley Jr, and David Kochner. Some of the reality tv stars were predictably annoying. But the rest of the cast was fun. As far as mocku-docu-mentary type films, as it takes a jab at idiocity of our society. Those who don't get the jokes...sorry basic bros,
