Amazing
26 May 2008
I am a believer in the Christ and naturally longed for a moderning telling of this wonderful event. I was anxious that people were starting to get interested in doing films like this one for a new generation of people.

It was important for me to see this kind of treatment of the holy story. So many times in the recent past the story of Christianity is mired in bad press and it was essential that people be allowed to express this nativity story with natural wonder. I was glad that they cast Mary as a minority young woman. I understand that some experts believe that Mary was about 16 at the time of Jesus birth. The scenery and the aspect of lives in the time period were very interesting. The blue hues in the filming make the settings seem somber often, one thing that I wondered about how the people of the time saw the events that are now history.

I loved this movie and think that no matter where you are in your walk to your journeys end one would enjoy this timeless story, thank you Catherin Hardwick for having the courage to do this movie.

The Movie is the Perfect Love Story
24 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I only watched this movie for 2 reasons. Reason number one, I really admire and adore Mandy Moore as an artist. And second I am a hopeless romantic comedy enthusiast.

I think that she is definitely developing her character from out of a refreshing character. She never chooses bad parts that have gratuitous elements of violence, vulgarity or tasteless sex scenes. The man (Crudup) in this is amazing, and yes very misogynistic and mocking of the women in his life. I found the OCD aspects believable and interesting to watch.

But the chemistry that develops in his life with hers is really amazing and believable as they are cast well together. I do see that the character of Lucy makes sense in her attractions to men like this. I love the way he argues his apologies. The scene where she and he are in a bar and Lucy puts a stop to his sarcasm is point blank perfect. I know someone much like him.

From my point of view the suffering that (Billy Crudup) went through with his abusive mother comes out competently in the screen play. The line about wht life us by the mentor figure Rudy near the end is priceless.

Whatever one thinks of the arts, ex-pop stars throw it all away this movie is worth seeing repeatedly.

reality
26 January 2008
Everyone knows someone like this, they face something awful and turn out better people because of tragedy and not triumph. I am not talking about people you are out of control, but rather about people who are just what they present. I love the male lead in this role because he is someone who is putting himself aside to be there for this amazing woman. Right away, you might think that two people meeting under these circumstances is contrived. But the human probability of the story is very high, and I wonder it this kind of plot doesn't help people to think about the reality of their lives, how we might treat each other and feel about the time that we have had to live. I challenge you to watch this to decide.

This movie needs more advertising.
