Transfixed: A Long Day's Work (2024)
Season 1, Episode 147
A lousy 'bonus'
10 June 2024
Bree Mills' "Transfixed" website still boasts of its mission to deliver trans lesbian porn, yet here's another exception, a vignette issued between the weekly diet of what's been promoted. She has veteran kink director Jim Powers deliver a standard, Stud porn actor humping a trans-female scene, with the supposed plot switch that she's the family breadwinner and he's a stay-at-home dad.

Nikki North recites her lines so poorly in the 2-minute dialogue setup scene that it kills the show entirely. And she does the same for a tacked-on ending, with saccharine romantic music playing.

In between, it's just Andre as top, Nikki as bottom, the type of popular TS porn that producer Bree Mills supposedly set out to depart from in her lesbian-oriented label. Whether site subscribers bite the bullet and sit through this material (begrudgingly?) while waiting for their minimum weekly requirement of the promised trans-female/cis-female romances, or just skip it, is an open question.

All for Women (2024 Video)
'Women's World' meets 'Grinders'
10 June 2024
Chunks from two Adult Time features are scavenged to produce this VOD, another bloated trailer for the pair of films. Why not watch the entire features rather than lengthy but incomplete excerpts? That's my obvious question, not being a fan of porn's endless flow of compilations.

There is story material here, though not enough to represent each movie adequately -for that you have to watch the movie itself, each one still readily available. The point instead is to watch sex scenes: from "Grinders" there is Vicki Chase humped by Tommy Pistol. He has an old man special makeup to wear, rendering him almost bald. The stars of "Grinders" make brief appearances: Lucky Fate and Maya Woulfe as part of the story..

From "Women's World" comes two sex scenes: Casey Calvert and Marica Hase making love on the couch, plus Victoria Voxxx and Alex Coal going at it in their kitchen. It's quality XXX content featuring four popular brunettes. A bit of story is illuminated by Candice Dare and Christy Love in a brief excerpt of their roles.

Film Buff (1994 Video)
Well-executed movie tribute vignettes
10 June 2024
Jim Enright and his screenwriter Raven Touchstone do justice to old movies in this X-rated version, using the premise that Chasey Lain likes to use her imagination to see what the characters might do, erotically, after the movie fades to black at the end.

Consistently, upbeat, the five vignettes show: Chasey as the girl on a ledge in a Silent Film starring Joey Silvera in the Harold Lloyd role. Interesting camerawork including a dolly shot around the building set into the side of a room shows them humping rather than jumping.

A horror movie setup has down-to-earth Tera Heart seducing Peter North's Dracula (his Eastern European accent is quite poor), followed by a teen movie in which superstars Chasey, Julie Ashon and TIffany Mynx have daisy-chain sex together after their Elvis-hip idol Tom Byron turns out to be gay and effeminate.

Lain thinks older movies are more romantic than new ones, and imagines Norma Jeane making love to Bogie-styled Jonathan Morgan after a brief, lousy Brando impression (from "Streetcar")_ by T. T. Boy. Final segment has Chasey return for a gang-bang, as she's a female guard in a prison for men.

Enright off-camera is the interviewer asking Chasey all about the movies, and the only letdown here is the absence of an ending: the final interview (after showing the jail-cell foursome) just ends.

Completely cynical porn feature
10 June 2024
An unknown director (Simon Goldstar) and a femme cast of less famous talent gives this Adult movie promise, but its unrelenting cynicism and matter of fact lack of drama makes jack a dull boy.

Entire story is dished out in the first couple of minutes as tearful co-ed Nikki Lynn tells her classmate Christgen Wolf that she needs $3,000 to continue at college, and without batting an eyelash Wolf solves the problem: join her friend Vince Vouyer's escort service and earn that much fast.

Instead of developing this situation and presenting further roadblocks in heroine Nikki's path, producer-director Goldstar merely shows how easy it is for Nikki and Vince's other call girls to put out for rich clients, and there's plenty of moolah to go around as he charges $1,000 a pop (plus big tips).

First sex scene is the only variatin on this basic sex-for-pay format: Vince humps Euro import Dru Berrymore in the bathroom of a bar, and afterwards, when he asks her to join his prostitution game, she slaps his face. But his other girls are perfectly happy with the scheme and the movie listlessly goes from one sex scene to another without further digression.

Other than Berrymore, I wasn't familiar with the other beauties in the cast, and biggest surprise as they pop up one by one is that all five of them are blondes. Christgen wins breast in show, and the weak script kind of loses sight of heroine Nikki until she pops up again at the end for a celebration of the joys of hooking. If prostitution needed PSAs to promote it as a wonderful career choice, movies like this one would qualify -no cops, no abusive clients, and no stigma attached ever make the scene.

Stupid Cupid (2000 Video)
Cupid wears a rubber...
10 June 2024
..and so does the rest of the male cast, in Jim Enright's silly fantasy comedy.

Jupiter sends Cupid (Kyle Stone) to Earth just before St. Valentine's Day and we get pratfalls and other slapstick as Cupid shoots his arrows to stir up romance among humans.

George Kaplan's screenplay is one of his laziest, just an excuse for many sex scenes by the increasingly horny cast. Stacy Valentine stars as Dillion Day's secretary, and has the most sex in the movie, which overdoes the Cupid gimmick. The nonsense finally ends with Jupier causing Cupid to become visible to humans, and he is lucky enough to hump Stacy. Keisha brightens up things along the way.

Frustrating
10 June 2024
This Italian porn film has elements that might have worked but is something of a disaster. It's pretentious, dull and strictly a tease, not entertainment.

Shot in Italy with some big-name imported porn talent, it stars Raven and departs from porn structure in having Raven in every sex scene -no variety. She looks beautiful and is glamorously dressed and coiffed, but like the rest of the cast she has her English dialogue post-synced with a neutral voice (in the dubbing studio), matching lip movements but rendering her performance as remote.

Kinky story gimmick involves what later was named hotwifing. Raven's husband Jesse Eastern is a famous orchestra conductor, and he's rehearsing for a concert. Meanwhile, he's hired artist Rocco Siffredi to paint an elaborate wall fresco in his home, and takes note of the immediate attraction between Rocco and his wife.

Plot twist is that Eastern has a fetish and wants her to make love to the artist and then report back to him what went on between them -that's a real turn-on for Jesse.

The movie really drags on, with sex scene after sex scene with Raven, and the version I watched was strictly softcore with camera angles and framing leaving out hardcore. In fact, Rocco's moneymaker, his cock, is not even visible. Full version features XXX sex including anal for Raven.

Included is a nothing scene of the adulterous couple going to a porn theater and sitting next to a young guy as they make out, more frustration.

False ending is very corny and poorly done, playing as if hack director Alessandro Perrella shot two alternate endings (will she or won't she?) to Raven's story, and just showed them back to back.

Best Birthday Ever (2024 Video)
Who needs gaming?
9 June 2024
Jimmy Michaels is a low self-esteem stepson in this MissaX offering, aimlessly gaming on-line with no friends. When his mom tries to cheer him up on his birthday, he quickly retreats back into his shell, so extreme measures are required.

I greatly enjoyed the seduction here, a simple scene, but marvelous to watch thanks to the natural performance by MILF Sadie Summers. The immediate reaction of Missa's website subscribers is interesting: a nearly 50/50 split between those demanding more story of a resistance before sex is consummated, clashing with those fans who just want to get on with it. Even on a feedback board for a site devoted to storytelling and characters there remains the seemingly never-ending battle between Gonzo versus involving, romantic porn.

Vacation hedonism
9 June 2024
I enjoy watching the Private Media movies shot in faraway places with hedonism as the theme. This time Alessandro Del Mar takes us to the island of Saint Martin in the Caribbean, and his all-sex movie plays like a XXX edition of something from the local tourist board.

It consists mainly of George Uhl (looking muscual and with an unusually long harido) and Francesco Malcom photographing five beauties posing in bikinis and nude, something akin to a Sports Illustrated bathing suit shoot. The sex, especially in threesomes, is basic anal sex and cumswapping action, but always gleefully perforemed.

Sandy Style and Ellen Saint stand out in the femme cast, both frequently seen in competitor Dorcel's releases too. Among the locations is a striking waterfall backdrop for George humping Sandy and Jessica May. The girls are all-natural, with no pubic hair or tattoos marring the visuals.

It makes for mindless escapism, Private's version of a screen saver..

Studio One: Summer Pavilion (1955)
Season 7, Episode 33
Gazebo, anyone?
9 June 2024
I read quite a bit of Gore Vidal's work, from "Julian" and "Messiah" to "Myra Breckinridge", but watching this early work of his for television was struck at how poor his writing could be. The mass of stereotypes on view resembles, seven decades later, something for a comedy sketch on Carol Burnett's variety show. Perhaps the "Live" nature of the medium accentuated the similarity for me.

Miriam Hopkins' best films from the '30s seem so stodgy in retrospect, but resurrecting her caricature style two decades later was a bad idea. The themes Vidal is covering here, ranging from the Old South and its clinging to myths and nonsense in the face of progress, plus his mockery of hidebound old notions of morality are portrayed without subtlety. The one-dimensional characters are all thoroughly uninteresting, though a beautiful young Elizabeth Montgomery, her chin cleft almost as prominent as that of Kirk Dougals, breathes a little bit of life into an unplayable, contradictory role.

The symbolism of the gazebo of the title burning down at the end (not shown of course) is about as shallow as the rest of the piece, and at no time is the Louisiana flavor of the piece made palpable.

Schlitz Playhouse: The Closed Door (1953)
Season 3, Episode 13
Simple and heartwarming
9 June 2024
Early TV via Schlitz Playhouse has Gene Lockhart strongly punching across a no-frills tale of the fate of one of those rugged individualists, so beloved to writers like Ayn Rand (see: The Fountainhead).

As spooky music plays, I expected something out of the One Step Beyond vein, but instead we have businessman Lockhart refusing to leave a single room in his 30-room mansion, convinced he cannot open the door: his hand freezes when he tries to turn the knob. He has a mania, and despite his doctor's pleas he refuses to see a shrink.

On a rainy night, an itinerant family of fruit pickers seeks shelter in the mansion, and the doctor attends to their ill infant. Their cute daughter (wonderfully played by young Beverly Washburn) manages to befriend Lockhart, much against his mean and nasty attitude, and after an incident with a pistol (rather artificially injected into the scenario) that temporarily blinds him, the kid reads him to sleep from her story book on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

There's a wonderfully heart-warming ending with a moral lesson about stealing and admitting the truth that nicely rounds off this 1/2-hour. It's the sort of inspirational entertainment that went off the air with the end of shows like "Touched by an Angel" or "Little House on the Prairie", but still works viewed 70 years later.

Wild Thing (1994 Video)
Stray footage, including Savannah
9 June 2024
Evidently released to cash in on having a scene featuring Savannah, this Infinity Video release is merel four all-sex segments slapped together to yield an hour-plus feature for VHS. All-sex, no character, no story.

Half of th action is with Gabrielle, a busty gonzo performer who has a 3-way with Ron Jeremy (and lots of cum from him) followed by a gang-bang with 3 familiar studs in which they clumsily acheive (sort of) a three cocks simultaneously in her pussy stunt. Remaining scee has blonde Whitney Banks mastubating and then humped by Joey Verducci (he was also part of the gang-bang).

Not listed in IMDb, I added it as one of Savannah's final video releases.

A Tongue Is Born (1990 Video)
Self-serving
9 June 2024
An offbeat VHS porn feature based on two gimmicks, "A Tongue Is Born" takes its dumb pun title from director Mel Curtis's line at the end of the movie. His new discovery Elise has just completed shooting her lesbian scene in the kitchen with Krisstarah Knight and he congratulates her on her long tongue's ability at cunnilingus.

Curtis made this oddball feature in collaboration with star Rick Savage; Mel gets writer credit while Rick takes screenplay credit (the distinction between the two a mystery to me).

Project has the five standard sex scenes presented as a cross between a story being shot and reality. It's as if a boring BTS about the shooting of a porn movie was turned on its head -we see the porn content, and then are presented with a fictionalized version of how a porn movie is organized and made. It's rather seamless, but the gimmick is undercut by ridiculously Pollyannaish dialogue about how wonderful and professional the Adult Industry is, almost a porn PSA embedded in the movie, structurally and literally!

Curtis himself gets a prominent NonSex role playing a version of himself (only he and Elise have character names matching their stage names), producing the movie and seeming like the nicest guy -even poking fun at himself in a blooper scene at the end of the tape. (He looks like a Porn Central Casting for the role of pornographer, suggesting with his beard the persona of Gerard Damiano. Elise is an unimpressive performer -even the length of her tongue is more talked about than proven in action, and the silliness of her sudden success is more sad than fun, being so fake.

The sex scenes are standard, while the "up with Porn!" sentiment gushed in between them by the cast is a bit hard to take.

Pure Taboo: Smile for the Camera (2023)
Season 7, Episode 44
In need of rewrites
9 June 2024
Anatomik Media (Dan & Rhiannon) directed this extremely poor Pure Taboo exercise, suffering from a worthless script by Lapis Afterglow. It sets up a slightly cryptic situation, fails to adequately explain what is really going on, and then fails to resolve anything, omitting an ending.

Watching it, I instinctively tried to fill in the blanks on the spot myself in order to make sense out of the "missing information" problem. We have Johnny Goodluck, overacting preposterously, as he has his cellphone set up to photograph sex in his bedroom but becomes maniacally angry when Victoria Voxxx enter. He complains at the top of his lungs that her lipstick is wrong, her hair's not right! No, she doesn't match what his wife looked like. There are photos of him and his wife and of course this crummy scene has Voxxx in the photos, not another similar looking model -another mistake.

So she dutifully protests but follows his orders, fixes herself up and they hump for 40 minutes. He's promised "he'll take care of her for life", and after his money shot she asks him about that promise but he doesn't answer. The end.

I thought she was a prostitute, but that doesn't seem right. He puts his wife's ring on her finger, and its importance seems overemphasized. The "taken care of for your life" suggests something macabre, like killing her after sex, but that's a red herring. No, the scene is meaningless and irritating. It's clear that serving fans with a dose of explicit sex is its only meaning.

In Loving Memory (2024 Video)
Two phony scenes
9 June 2024
This Pure Taboo DVD presents two scenarios about guys obsessed following the departure (death perhaps) of their wives, neither of which are believable or satisfying. I would nominate it as the worst DVD ever issued from this series.

Title scene is built around one of those highly realistic (and expensive) sex dolls as a principal character and it makes for a very dumb vignette.

Kendra Sutherland finds the love doll in her man Nathan Bronson's closet and is shocked. He comes home and explains he became attached to "her" (script fails to give the doll a name) when he was depressed following his wife's death, and gets great pleasure and solace f*cking it. He offers to show Kendra, and very quickly into the scene we have a threesome.

Bronson humping the doll in both holes is heightened by the extremely realistic look of its skin, and Kendra enjoys the 3-way, but her acting is poor -her character is about as lifeless as the doll. Nothing much happens other than Nathan's money shot on Kendra's breasts. The doll looks eerie and quite creepy with its lifeless stare. I suppose the kinkiness of humping the doll is all this scene has to offer, a gimmick previously used in the series in a Tommy Pistol/Whitney Wright scene "The Aura Doll" that won Tommy two fake industry "acting awards".

Pure Taboo: In Loving Memory (2023)
Season 7, Episode 50
Gimmick doesn't work
9 June 2024
Pure Taboo operates on the principle that characters do not behave believably -it's just goofy situations leading to explicit sex. This one is built around one of those highly realistic (and expensive) sex dolls as a principal character and it makes for a very dumb vignette.

Standard soap opera spoof
8 June 2024
Herschel Savage plays the producer of a TV soap that needs something to improve its ratings in this professionally made (courtesy of reliable producer-director Jerome Tanner) but routine VHS feature. Somehow this mediocre item got AVN award nominations.

Title character Careena Collins is a young nympho caught stealing by security guard Mike Horner, who f*cks Savage and his assistant Tom Byron. She impresses Byron and is hired to spice up the show.

Soon most of the cast has also humped Collins, and TV gossip columnist Shanna McCullough witnesses this action and hypes the show's new cast member on her broadcast. Ratins success is assured.

With no real conflict here, even though the cast supposedly had rivalries, the story is stillborn - a lot of catfighting and treachery among cast members would have been interesting and made sense in spoofing soap cliches. Instead, Tanner and his scripter Ciffton Darke merely deliver sex, no drama.

Sweet and Sour (2024 Video)
Cannibalization
8 June 2024
Adult Time grabs footage from two features for this VOD issue. Just as other labels, such as Wicked with its endless flow of hundreds of cut and paste compilations, there's apparently a market for this, but I don't see the point.

Best example is over an hour chunk out of "Casey: A True Story". Perhaps it's designed for fans who don't like Dante Colle, as it presents just the "after" scenes fo Csey Kisses as trans-female, skipping the first couple hours of that movie where her pre-transition persona was played, as male, by Dante Colle. We do get a Casey masturbation scene, related to her early career as trans hitting it big as a webcam girl, plus a threesome with her, Kylei LeBeau and Owen Gray.

The other segment comes from Ricky Greenwood's blaxploitation tribute "Sweet Sweet Sally Mae". It also features plenty of story (but not enough to reflect the point of the original movie, plus a reprise of Kira Noir with her original natural look, having Sapphic sex with Noemie Bilas. Bilas ended her porn career a while back.

Loose Ends VI (1989)
Amateur night
8 June 2024
Bruce Seven's amateurish approach to porn is on full display in "Loose Ends 6", an embarrassing video despite its big-name cast.

It's basically about Jamie Gillis as the Devil, way overacted, as the stupid dialogue here has the cast failing to create credible characters. Later Bruce videos dispensed with stories, perhaps a wise decision.

The scenes contrdict each other, as Gillis fights with Bionca, banishing her to the night club named The Dark Side, which turns out to be Hell. Boring pole dancing sequences at the club are included, as a Bruce Seven video would not be complete without dancing as filler. Gillis is having Bionca compete with Megan Leigh for his favors, while his slave Rachel Ryan services him. The ending is a stupid role reversal in terms of B&D content.

There are many extras in the cast including Bruce as a bartender in Hell. Final orgy is sloppy.

Nookie of the Year (1993 Video)
Punning on a pastime
8 June 2024
In porn, it's a given: the cuter the dumb pun title, the lousier the video. This of course also holds true for packaging: attractive VHS box covers usually contain crap inside.

Thus arrives "Nookie of the Year", a brain-dead salute to baseball, as in Nikki Sinn wearing a snazzy uniform, only to remove it and have sex with Steve Hatcher. Hardly a novelty: the pair humped their way into your heart in dozens of features.

Opening is truly lame, as Alex Sanders tries to watch a game on TV while Valeria models a bikini but cannot get his attention. This cliche of watching TV sports outweighing sex with a beauty for the typical American male has been used endless times in porn, and can still be found in any old Brazzers vignette nowadays.

The attractive femme cast earned a payday for sultry Valeria (billed as "Corinna Lindero"), Alicia Rio and a couple of Nikkis: Sinn and Shane. The copy I watched on-line had the credits cut off, making identification (by matching the actors to a mutual title) rather difficult but that title pun eased my dutiful task of research.

You cannot be serious!
8 June 2024
Apologies to John McEnroe, a sports great who takes his job seriously. Rinse Dream with this fake-hip porn junker thought himself to be avant-garde, but was just another foot soldier (alongside Jim Holliday, credited here as "production consultant") who ushered in the end of Adult Cinema as a serious part of entertainment. Porno chic had ended (though not in Europe, where Dorcel and others continued to fight the good fight) and Gonzo soon reigned supreme.

So we have an hour or so (plus extended credits filer, listing dozens of fake names) of an all-star cast of femmes talking to the camera or having sex in mindless fashion. Jeanna Fine leads off showing her great deep throat skill on a dildo. What passes for comedy plays out like Rowan & Martin's troupe with unfunny one-liners, and the sexiness of a teen Goldie Hawn in the 1960s has been appropriated for your favorite porn star in colorful lingerie. It all adds up to nothing.

Three decades plus later, we have a gushy IMDb review praising the absence of story (no longer an anomaly) and a "collector's item" selling for $500 factory sealed on DVD paired with Part 1 (initially issued as 2 separate VHS items to sand-bag the fans) or just $400 for a used copy! A pyrrhic victory for hacks Steven and Jim.

Waves of Passion (1993 Video)
All-sex with Shayla
8 June 2024
Shayla LaVeaux is one of Adult Cinema's most beautiful women, featured here in an all-sex format by a director usually given to gimmickry. The result is more satisfying this time, though hardly up to the level of her acting-required movies.

Plenty of outdoor sex, nicely photographed, with her co-stars Francesca Le (toward the beginning of her career) and Sierra. It's a pleasant video, with the only drawback being producer-director Paul Norman insisting on re-playing the same wailing saxophone track I've heard on countles ideos from him.

This was made for an audience of couples back in the VHS era of porn, and the quality holds up pretty well.

The Pink Pussycat (1992 Video)
Dull shaggy-dog "mystery"
8 June 2024
Ashlyn Gere is cast as a private eye, but her case is boring, Duck Dumont's movie is boring, and even the sex scenes in the film-within-a-film porno being directed by hammy Henri Pachard are boring. I kept waiting in vain for something to happen -Dumont's sense of pacing is atrocious.

With many crew members thrust into acting roles, this much ado about nothing mystery goes nowhere. The solution to the kidnapping case is moronic, and after solving it, Ashlyn showers and goes to bed to dream of a threesome -pure filler, as was most of what previously occurred.

As with so many inept pornographers, what passes for a "story" with dialogue is just a bunch of footage, aimlessly directed and adding up to nothing. An attractive cast, including P. J. Sparxx, Trixie Tyler and Melanie Moore, is wasted.

Lesbian Treat (2024 Video)
Couples from the archive
8 June 2024
Two oldie GIrlsway vignettes come back on an Adult Time VOD titled "Lesbian Treat", both worth watching.

"Lesbian Census", issued on the 2018 DVD "Meant for Each Other", stars Abigail Mac as an intrusive census taker, who asks folks impertinent questions about their sex lives. First four victims are male crew members -pure filler with zero yocks generated. Then she approaches Cassidy Klein, who is surprised to be asked if she's homosexual, and then improbably says "I'll prove it to you", making love to a delighted Abigail.

"The Blind Date" has Charlotte Sartre, she of the Louise Brooks retro bangs hairstyle, stood up on a date at an outdoor cafe, as is April O'Neil who shares a table with her due to overcrowding. Next thing you know they're indoors, humping away at April's place, where we get to see O'Neil's fabulous big natural boobs. Not exactly a "meet cute" to remember. It was issued in 2019 on the DVD titled "A Close Reunion".

Aimed at only the dumbest of porn snobs
7 June 2024
To set the record straight, reading the prior (and only) IMDb review one would think that Rinse Dream's porn video is a subject for a college course on Semiotics. No, it's not philosophical nor is it cutting edge post-modern filmmaking. It's pretentious gonzo porn made before the Gonzo revolution (following Gresham's Law) drove serious Adult Entertainment out of the marketplace.

This is not Brecht distanciation, it is merely delivery of XXX sex content with the insulting format of non-stop audience put-downs. The weird editing, use of intertitles to interrupt the visuals and general fake-artsiness make it unwatchable, literally. On Disney+ there is a warning about "flashing lights" appended to every movie (it seems), and this video certainly deserves a similar disclaimer.

When I was in college in the '60s I found much of Godard's work similarly unwatchable - I recall the first movie I ever walked out of in my life was in fact one of his better ones: A Married Woman; I later got onto his wavelenght and by the 1980s became a fan.

But Jeanna Fine and Tami Monroe, for example, have made many fine Adult features, just not as fake-hip as this crappy one. Rinse Dream has worked on mainstream projects, and was taken seriously for the avant-garde effects of Cafe Flesh, but I would classify his fans as true masochists, analogous to those lost souls who dig and pay to see Cuck movies.

Four Star Playhouse: The Squeeze (1953)
Season 2, Episode 2
Light and smooth
7 June 2024
Talk about creatives: Robert Aldrich directed and Blake Edwards wrote this breezy and entertaining Four Star Playhouse segment, one of several starring Dick Powell as shady restaurateur (and gambling den owner) Dante. It's fun viewing, holding up well over 70 (phew!) years later.

A future Aldrich player Richard Jaeckel is fine as a wise-guy kid forcing his way into Dante's gambling backroom -he's the district attorney's son and threatens to get Powell in trouble for running an illegal gambling operation. His sister, played by minor actress Joan Darden (wife of future Oscar-winning writer Alvin Sargent) is the romantic interest, and after several light-hearted twists and turns, Powell gets out of a sticky situation.

Edwards' talent for fun situations and snappy dialogue is impressive, more than a hint of his legendary filmmaking career to come.
