Protesters Shouted Down Maga Lawmakers Outside Trump Trial Courthouse: ‘Go Home Carpetbagging Fools’
A crowd of anti-Donald Trump protesters repeatedly shouted down a group of Maga lawmakers outside of a lower Manhattan courthouse while a press briefing was taking place.
Last week, several of the former president’s allies made an appearance to rail against Trump’s prosecution in his New York hush money trial and emphasized their devotion to him.
The group included South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, former New York police commissioner Bernie Kerik, ex-Trump administration official Kash Patel, Trump senior adviser Jason Miller and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Georgia).
When Trump’s supporters gathered to talk with the press and deliver their statements of support for the former president, protesters in the crowd jeered at and heckled them.
The police tried to keep the protesters at bay, but their sounds drowned out the Maga lawmakers from declaring support for Trump.

Coldplay has some major similarities to The Beatles, such as the group’s refusal to be pinned down to one genre. Chris Martin said Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends drew inspiration from the Fab Four. Also, Coldplay worked with a classic rock icon to create the album.
Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’ includes a tip of the hat to The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’
During a 2008 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Coldplay’s Chris Martin said he didn’t want to refer to “Violet Hill,” a song from Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, as a single. “We don’t really like that word,” says Martin. “This isn’t our ‘Umbrella’ … it’s [just] our first attempt at a protest song.” It’s interesting that Martin distanced the song from Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” as his band would later work with her on “Princess of China.

It was the reunion "Star Wars" animation enthusiasts had been eagerly anticipating since Ahsoka Tano faced off against Darth Vader in the ancient Sith Temple on Malachor during the emotionally charged and action-packed "Star Wars Rebels" season 2 finale, "Twilight of the Apprentice." Titled "Shadow Warrior," the fifth episode of "Ahsoka" finally brought Snips (now significantly older and played by Rosario Dawson) face to face with her beloved mentor Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) for the first time since his death.
Or did it?
Setting aside the fact that Ahsoka and Anakin reuniting didn't necessarily mean much to those unfamiliar with "Star War" animation, it was never entirely clear whether Anakin was the real deal or a figment of Ahsoka's imagination as she slowly drowned in the oceans of Seatos after losing a lightsaber duel with the fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson). While he certainly acted like the real Anakin (and...

There’s only one thing that comes to mind when you think of Elvira: franchise! And that’s exactly what Cassandra Peterson – portrayer of everyone’s favorite horror hostess – wanted following the release of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, aiming to have the sort of success of Ernest P. Worrell. Knowwhatimean, Uncle Vinnie?
Unfortunately for Cassandra Peterson, she ran into some serious issues with a sequel to 1988’s Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (which was a box office bomb anyway) when the planned studio, Carolco Pictures, went bankrupt. But Peterson had plenty in the arsenal. As she told Dread Central, “I had a ton of [ideas] that were so awesome. I had this one called Elvira Goes to Hell, and it was like a buddy picture, and I really liked that one. It was really funny. In 1989 Orion Pictures, along with Nelson Entertainment released Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. The film was widely loved, and still is, to this day by both critics and fans alike. Because the film was so popular, spawned tons of merchandise and even had two spinoff shows…a sequel was inevitable.
This isn’t just any sequel, it’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. At the time regarded as a love it or hate it film and was considered a box office failure. So let’s go to hell, visit heaven, build some evil and good robots and face off in the Battle of Bands as we check out Bill & Ted’s bonkers follow up on this episode of Revisited.

[This story contains spoilers for Ahoska episode five.]
Ahsoka episode five takes a break from the conflict at hand to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane — one that expands on a major cameo revealed at the end of last week’s episode.
Directed and written by Dave Filoni, the midseason episode picks up right after the major cliffhanger in episode four, in which Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, confronting Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) in a location that appeared to be the World Between Worlds.
Dressed in black Jedi garments akin to his look in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of Sith, and de-aged to look like his younger self, this version of Anakin is different from that of a traditional blue Force ghost. While that part isn’t fully explained in the episode, it may have something to do with the World Between Worlds itself, which was first seen in Star Wars Rebels season four.

Ariana Greenblatt just made Star Wars history after the actress appeared in Episode 5 of Disney+'s Ahsoka.
Even though Greenblatt just made Star Wars history, fans knew that Episode 5 of Ahsoka would be a notable installment in the galaxy far, far away when it was announced that it would be specially screened in select theaters.
The show as a whole already etched its name into the record books in many different ways. It featured the first time that characters such as Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla made appearances in live-action and the first time that the World Between Worlds made its way onto TV screens in the same manner.

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
There never really seemed to be a question of if Ahsoka would bring back Anakin Skywalker – Hayden Christensen’s casting in the series hasn’t exactly been kept a secret – but rather when in the timeline we would see him given Darth Vader’s death in Return of the Jedi. We finally got our answer in “Fallen Jedi,” which sees Ahsoka seemingly fall to her death during her duel with Baylan Skoll, but the end of the episode reveals that Ahsoka has actually somehow been transported back to the World Between Worlds, this time greeted by her former master.
But as emotional as this reunion outside of time and space may be (hearing Anakin call Ahsoka “snips” again definitely had me tearing up a bit), there are some who believe that there’s more than just some Force ghost or time travel shenanigans going on here.

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
Live-action Star Wars fans are about to learn quite a lot about how space and time works in the galaxy far, far away thanks to the latest twist on Ahsoka which introduces the World Between Worlds. But viewers who haven’t watched the Rebels season 4 episode “A World Between Worlds” may be a bit confused about what is going on when Ahsoka wakes up in the mystical plane, welcomed by none other than her former master Anakin Skywalker, played by a de-aged Hayden Christensen to boot.
What is the World Between Worlds and how the heck is Clone Wars-era Anakin suddenly back? And did Ahsoka die at the end of episode 4 in order to return to this realm? One question is definitely much easier to answer than the others…

This article contains spoilers for "Ahsoka" episode 4, "Fallen Jedi."
There are certain elements of "Star Wars" animation that would simply never work in live-action. For example, a character like Bendu, the mystical being who occupies the space between the light and dark sides of the Force, looks fantastic on "Star Wars Rebels," but would probably come off as little more than a giant blob of desaturated CGI in the more visually grounded world of "Ahsoka." That is not, however, the case with the World Between Worlds from "Rebels."
Less commonly referred to as the Vergence Scatter, the World Between Worlds is composed of infinite pathways and doors that lead to specific moments and places in the "Star Wars" timeline. It's a setting that has a minimalistic and circular design that readily lends itself to the high-definition LED video walls of the StageCraft sets (also known as The Volume) where "Ahsoka...

Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which served as a precursor to the animated series of the same name. While Ahsoka isn’t necessarily the main character, The Clone Wars follows her journey as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan, including why she ultimately left the Jedi Order and how she escaped Order 66. She returned in Rebels, which takes place in the five years leading up to A New Hope, and we know she survived the Galactic Civil War given her return in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and her own series Ahsoka, all of which take place five years after Return of the Jedi — between 9 and 10 years Aby (after the Battle of Yavin in A New Hope). But since Ahsoka clearly survived the war with the Empire, where was she during the Original Trilogy? Why wasn’t she around to help...

The Toronto International Film Festival lineup keeps rolling in, with Midnight Madness, Discovery, and Platform programs being unveiled this week. Leading the pack is the North American premiere of Harmony Korine’s infrared action feature Aggro DR1FT, while new films from Tarsem, Larry Charles, Patricia Arquette, Molly Manning Walker, and more were also added.
“Sides will be split — both figuratively and literally (on screen) — as Midnight Madness returns to the Royal Alexandra Theatre with another stimulating concoction of unpredictable shock and ‘y’arr!’ cinema,” said Peter Kuplowsky, TIFF International Programmer, Midnight Madness. “Featuring two timely satiric provocations from Saudi Arabia (Naga) and Serbia (Working Class Goes to Hell) — nations that are making their section debut — this year’s madness infectiously ignites with 11 o’clock numbers that go all the way to midnight courtesy of Larry Charles’ bonkers and bawdy Dicks: The Musical. A menagerie of tastes will be sated, so bottoms up!

If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, then good intentions are also sending “Little Demon” to TV’s fiery pit of no return. Over its first three episodes, the adult animated sitcom created and written by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla is high on crude jokes — with nudity, bloodshed, and cringe comedy aplenty — but low on ingenuity, taking a novel premise and steering it toward conventionality. In a crowded landscape of TV-ma animation (unless you’re working for HBO Max), simply talking the filthy talk isn’t enough, and the DeVito family’s fictional foray into hell needs more pep in its step if it’s going to avoid damnation.

Aaron Sorkin is definitely not a fan of U.S. congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene using one of his most iconic movie quotes to defend herself, and he made that very clear on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” Monday night.
Over the weekend, Greene’s personal Twitter account was permanently suspended for violating the platforms policies on Covid misinformation for a fifth time. On Monday, Greene also received a 24-hour suspension on Facebook for similar reasons.
Greene vented her frustrations on the alternative social media platform Gettr, conjuring one of the most famous lines Sorkin’s ever written, saying that Twitter is “an enemy of the people and can’t handle the truth.” Corden wasn’t even able to finish his full question on the matter, before Sorkin cut him off saying, “Yeah, she can go to hell.”

It's film festival season, and while all eyes are on Venice right now, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is also gearing up for its start date on September 10. One of the things screening in Toronto this year is "Hellbound," a new Netflix series from "Train to Busan" director Yeon Sang-ho. It's based on "The Hell," a webtoon, or digital comic, that he co-wrote with Choi Kyu-seok, who also served as illustrator.
The TIFF page for "Hellbound" likens the webtoon to a storyboard for the series. The cast is led by Yoo Ah-in, who starred in the superb 2018 Korean film, "Burning,"...

Meghan McCain: Democrats Who Agree With Katie Couric’s ‘Deprogram’ Comments Can ‘Go to Hell’ (Video)
Meghan McCain had a bone to pick with Democrats on Monday’s episode of “The View,” saying that anyone who agrees with Katie Couric’s recent comments about Trump supporters can “go to hell.”
As former President Trump faces possible conviction on an article of impeachment for inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, he is also threatening to take his supporters away from the GOP and start a new “Patriot” party. But instead of digging into what threat that prospect poses for President Joe Biden’s hopes for unifying the country, McCain decided to point the finger at the former “Today” host Katie Couric, who recently wondered aloud to Bill Maher about how to “deprogram” people who have bought into the “cult of Trump.”
McCain started fuming on Monday’s episode over what she views as hypocrisy amid Biden’s call for unity.

If Hollywood is running out of ideas; as to how direct and market Nicolas Cage in a movie, this is one way to get the audience’s attention (or not!). Put Nicolas Cage in a ‘soft porn supernatural' film entitled, 'Between Worlds.' This film was shot in Mobile, Alabama last year (where Nic took the time to visit some ill children at a hospital in Mobile and also paid tribute to some members of the Coast Guard to thank them for their service. I admire Nic for being a thoughtful and generous man!) and was written, directed and produced by Maria Pulera. I just hope Nic is not winding down that road and stooping to an all-time low into the porn industry. The film stars Nicolas...

It doesn’t matter if Nicolas Cage is talking about his new film “Between Worlds,” his meme-ified action film “Face/Off,” or his love of Prince, whatever comes out of his mouth is gold. An enigmatic, talented, and unusual acting presence on screen, the Academy Award-winning actor is perhaps even more mysterious and thoughtful during interviews, often talking about his craft, inspirations, and film choices.

"When you go to the other side, are there other people there?" Saban Films has debuted the first trailer for an indie supernatural thriller titled Between Worlds, which premiered at Fantastic Fest to a few positive reviews. Following up Mandy also from this year with Nicolas Cage going full-on crazy, Between Worlds is another Cage Rage movie - but this time he plays a truck driver. Cage plays a down-on-his-luck truck driver haunted by the memory of his dead wife and child. He meets a woman who asks for his help, but the spirit of his dead wife takes over, possessing the young woman's body determined to settle her unfinished business with the living. Director Maria Pulera initially wrote this as a standard thriller, but collaborating with Cage on it made it "a much more surreal drama in the vein of David Lynch." The cast includes Franka Potente, Penelope Mitchell,...

It’s been a busy few weeks which means I’ve been watching a lot of new films, but I’ve also fallen a bit behind on reviews for several of them. That being said, here are my thoughts on a quartet of movies I’ve recently had the pleasure of watching, including two Netflix originals—Gareth Evans’ Apostle and Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us (which hits the platform this Friday)—as well as Between Worlds from Maria Pulera and Henry Jacobson’s Bloodline, which features Seann William Scott as a serial killer.
Apostle: The last time filmmaker Gareth Evans dipped his toes into the murky waters of horror cinema, the results were the spectacular segment from V/H/S/2, “Safe Haven,” which still remains my favorite short from the entire V/H/S franchise. Certainly one of the most unusual films of Fantastic Fest 2018 was Maria Pulera’s Between Worlds, a supernatural thriller/romantic drama that follows a trucker named Joe (Nicolas Cage) who has long been haunted by the deaths of his wife and child. One day, he crosses paths with Julie (Franka Potente), whose daughter, Billie (Penelope Mitchell), was involved in a dangerous crash, leaving her life hanging in the balance, and allowing Joe’s dead wife, Mary, to infiltrate the young woman’s body. And from there, one of the most twisted love triangles unfolds.
As mentioned, Between Worlds is a wonderfully weird story about fate, love, nostalgia, and sex, and Daily Dead recently spoke with the writer/director about defying expectations with Between Worlds, collaborating with both Cage and Potente, and much more.

Starting tomorrow, the 2018 Fantastic Fest kicks off in Austin and this year’s lineup features an incredible array of genre-bending projects, plus a few highly anticipated movies as well. The festivities kick off with David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018)and wrap up a week later with Drew Goddard’s Bad Times at the El Royale (which this writer will sadly be missing out on), but in between those two films, Fantastic Fest will also be screening over 150 different features and shorts, making it one of the greatest celebrations of genre filmmaking in North America.

Half revenge thriller, half trippy mural on the side of a van, Panos Cosmatos’ “Mandy” is the kind of pretentious horror thriller that will drive some folks crazy and others into throes of ecstasy. It’s a deliberately paced, ultraviolent, outlandishly stylish delivery system for Nicolas Cage’s wild-eyed acting style, and a thoughtful meditation about why Death Metal totally rules.
Cage stars as Red Miller, a logger and heavy-metal enthusiast who lives with a fantasy artist named Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough). Their lives are peaceful, filled with dreamy glances over vast horizons, watching cheesy sci-fi movies on television and reading pulp fantasy novels at work.
Into their lives drives the Children of the New Dawn, a cult led by Jeremiah Sand, who drive past Mandy on her way to work. Jeremiah decides that since all the fruits of this world are his for the taking — and they are — then he must have Mandy,...

Nicolas Cage didn’t walk the red carpet at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, but his name was everywhere. At the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, the actor’s wild-eyed performance in the revenge saga “Mandy” reminded cinephiles that while his penchant for overacting can border on parody, he’s a true creature of cinema. Sundance audiences embraced it as a genre experiment; the Cannes reception took it global. “For years, Nicolas Cage’s more extreme performances have been derided as a blight on cinema,” wrote Robbie Collins in The Telegraph, “but it turns out that cinema just had to catch up.”
Directors’ Fortnight, where Cage won similar approval two years ago as the self-absorbed criminal with a Humphrey Bogart obsession in Paul Schrader’s “Dog Eat Dog,” proved to be only one of several ways for the Cage brand to remain current at the world’s most prominent film gathering.
