He is currently facing charges for misdemeanor offenses and a felony of obstruction of officers during civil disorder.

It is a miracle that Dan Harmon's groundbreaking sitcom "Community" lasted more than a half-season on NBC. The series about seven misfits who form a study group at the fictional Greendale Community College was aggressively dense in its world-building and proudly esoteric in its references. How esoteric? In only its second season, the show turned what was set up as a "Pulp Fiction" homage into an invigoratingly cerebral riff on "My Dinner with Andre" provoked by a character's extra work on Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel's "Cougar Town." Not so shockingly, "Community" ranked a dire 138 in the Nielsen ratings that year.
Harmon and a crack staff of writers that included Megan Ganz, Dino Stamatopoulos, Liz Cackowski, Chris McKenna, and Andy Bobrow shredded the outside of the envelope of what was acceptable on a network sitcom. It made "Seinfeld" look like "Full House." Critics and a cult following kept...

Variety asked bonafide Dungeons & Dragons expert Spencer Crittenden — of “Harmontown” and “HarmonQuest” fame — to watch Amazon Prime Video’s new series “The Legends of Vox Machina” and give his take on the show. Crittenden knows a thing or two about turning his experience as a Dungeon Master into a bit of a career, and that’s exactly what the Critical Role team has done on their popular D&d stream — which has now led to “Vox Machina.” Here’s Crittenden’s review.
It’s hard to explain to the outside observer what Amazon Prime Video’s new animated series “The Legend of Vox Machina” means for the D&d fans of the world. Dungeons and Dragons, the once-reviled and still deeply misunderstood fantasy game, is enjoying unprecedented popularity in our current age of never-ending content and streaming. Thousands of creators have all garnered millions of views on Dungeons and Dragons content,...

This article contains spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 6.
To be fair, you have to have a very high Iq to understand the most recent episode of Rick and Morty and apparently I’m dumb as hell because it looks like critics (even on this very website!) have by and large enjoyed “Never Ricking Morty,” while I found it tiresome and confusing.
I did understand it, broadly. Though it isn’t explained until almost the end of the episode that there’s a dude called the Story Lord behind it all, Rick and Morty are on a story train that forces cutaways to vignettes. It’s technically this season’s Interdimensional Cable episode, but with a very different, and much harder to follow, framework.
More than that, it’s a story about Dan Harmon’s story circle. For those unaware, since all the way back when he was making...

If the voice of Pawny, the pocket-sized, scene stealing green alien in Men in Black: International sounds familiar to you, there's a good reason for that. Pawny is voiced by actor, comedian, and Oscar-nominated writer Kumail Nanjiani, who has appeared in an impressive number of critically acclaimed television shows and movies.
You may have first heard Nanjiani's distinctive voice as part of the 2011 video game podcast The Indoor Kids, which he cohosted at one point with his wife, Emily V. Gordon. He also made regular guest appearances on Community and Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon's podcast Harmontown.
In 2011, we also saw Nanjiani cast as agoraphobic attorney Pindar Singh on the TNT series Franklin & Bash, where he would continue to play a supporting role until the show's third season in 2014. Pindar was extremely smart, yet socially awkward and anxious, traits that have been shared among several of the characters Nanjiani has portrayed.

Dan Harmon apologized Monday for a decades-old video that caused an online furor because it portrayed pedophilia.
“In 2009, I made a ‘pilot’ which strove to parody the series ‘Dexter’ and only succeeded in offending. I quickly realized the content was way too distasteful and took the video down immediately. Nobody should ever have to see what you saw and for that, I sincerely apologize,” he said in a statement obtained by TheWrap Monday night.
Adult Swim, the network that airs Harmon’s hit animated series, “Rick and Morty,” also released a statement, saying: “At Adult Swim, we seek out and encourage creative freedom and look to push the envelope in many ways, particularly around comedy. The offensive content of Dan’s 2009 video that recently surfaced demonstrates poor judgement and does not reflect the type of content we seek out.
“Dan recognized his mistake at the time and has apologized. He...

“Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon left Twitter as an old sketch emerged in which he plays a therapist who sexually assaults babies.
Some conservatives, most notably right-wing provocateur Mike Cernovich, fueled online outrage over the 2009 sketch “Daryl,” a parody of Showtime’s “Dexter.” The video resurfaced recently as part of a coordinated online campaign against left-leaning figures on Twitter. Last week, James Gunn lost his job directing the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” film after Cernovich and others flagged his old Twitter jokes about pedophilia and rape.
The conservatives pointing out the old jokes say that liberals should be held to the same standards as conservatives who are ousted over offensive remarks. But critics of the effort say there’s a difference between old jokes that were deliberately designed to offend and public statements made in apparent seriousness.

“Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon has several small screen projects in the works, so naturally, now is the perfect time to step into the world of music too. Harmon is executive producing a comedy rap album from New York-based comedian Rob Tanchum — and that’s no joke.
“Disturbed, Depressed, Inadequate” is a comedic concept rap album about Tanchum, a depressed loser from Earth, who is abducted by alien scientists (Harmon and his “Harmontown” podcast co-host Jeff Davis) who probe his unconscious mind and extract a concept album of self-loathing, id-driven rap songs.
“He could just keep going forever, he’s like tapioca pudding,” Harmon said of Tanchum. “It’s good stuff. It’s about his own maniac high anxieties and weird cathexes and it’s beautifully written,” Davis added.

Exclusive: Dan Harmon is a pretty busy guy; the Community creator is working on 70 episodes of his Adult Swim series Rick and Morty and is penning a script for a TV remake of Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Sirens of Titan. He’s now moving into music.
Harmon is exec producing a comedy rap album by comedian Rob Tanchum. The album, Disturbed, Depressed, Inadequate is a concept album from the New Yorker, who caught Harmon’s eye after setting one of the latter’s long-running jokes to song and tweeting it at him.
The record sees Tanchum play a depressed loser from Earth, who is abducted by alien scientists, played by Harmon and Jeff Davis, who probe his unconscious mind and extract a concept album of self-loathing, id-driven rap songs. When Comedy Central was developing “The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail,” a TV show based off the weekly standup showcase at Meltdown Comics, co-host Jonah Ray knew that there was only one place the show would work. Any time someone suggested the show could be filmed in a different studio or a larger venue, the response was always the same: They had to do it in Meltdown’s back room.
“We couldn’t take the show to TV, we had to bring TV to the show. The low ceilings, the way the sound was in there, the intimacy of the crowd being right up against the comic and the fact that it was almost this speakeasy idea, people having to go through a comic book shop to get to a comedy show,” Ray told IndieWire. “The idea was to almost treat it as if it were a documentary, showing people...

“Community” creator Dan Harmon issued a lengthy public apology on Thursday to Megan Ganz, the former “Community” writer who accused him of sexual harassment, an apology Ganz herself has hailed as a model for all future public statements of apology. “I was attracted to a writer that I had power over because I was a showrunner,” Harmon said on his “Harmontown” podcast, before launching into a lengthy run-down of his behavior. In the apology, which comes at about 18 minutes and 30 seconds into the episode, titled “Don’t Let Him Wipe Or Flush,” Harmon dissected his relationship to Ganz as...

Dan Harmon, creator of the sitcom Community, admitted to sexually harassing a former writer on the show, Megan Ganz, in an episode of his Harmontown podcast. Harmon begins to address his behavior at the 18:40 mark.
Harmon's detailed admission comes several weeks after Ganz called him out on Twitter for sexual harassment. While Harmon expressed regret at the time, he said on Harmontown that other female colleagues pushed him to not just apologize publicly, but do so in a way that touched on how he was part of the problem.

Dan Harmon is the man behind NBC’s Community and the Adult Swim series Rick and Morty. He has obviously found a lot of success in his field, and continues to expand his business interests into other realms. For example, he hosts a weekly podcast called Harmontown and published his book You’ll Be Perfect When You’re Dead in 2013. However, he recently made entertainment news when he posted on Twitter on New Year’s Eve. In the post, he admitted that he had been a terrible boss (in more brash terms). This caught the attention of Megan Ganz, a former writer for

Our countdown of our top ten films of the year begins in earnest with The Big Sick...
Films Of 2017: The Big Sick (10th place)
You don't see many comedy movies based on true stories. Yes, writers and performers will borrow from experience in trying to make us laugh, but when something in this genre tries a faithful version of that 'based on actual events' thing, it usually means the story itself was so funny it had to be a movie, and there can be a lot of meta-winking to that status for laughs.
That's not so with The Big Sick, a romantic comedy with dead serious stakes and a frankly startling emotional range. Billed as “an awkward true story”, the inspiration comes from married screenwriters Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, who recount the health scare that defined their unusual courtship.
