In the world of blockbuster entertainment and critical success, no one rivals the mastery of Steven Spielberg. Notwithstanding the technical ingenuity of James Cameron and the interstellar scientific imagination of George Lucas, Spielberg stands – to this day – as the only Hollywood director to spread out his wings across (almost) every genre and master it without leaving any room for doubts.

Despite some of the Ssu movies getting mixed or negative reviews (like Morbius), the Ssu keeps going and now has many live-action and animated projects in the works, focusing on Spider-Man’s side characters and villains. ‘Madame Web’ came out on February 14th and didn’t do well, with Dakota Johnson criticizing its development publicly.
Upcoming releases include ‘Kraven the Hunter’ on August 30th, 2024, and ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ which changed its release date to October 25th instead of November 3rd. ‘Venom’ is the most successful franchise in the Ssu, so it’s not surprising that there are reports of Feige wanting to bring him into the MCU.
Even though “The Last Dance” marks the conclusion of Venom’s current story, it doesn’t signal the end of Venom-related projects. Recently, there have been discussions about an animated R-rated Venom project in the works. Now, a prominent source, CanWeGetSomeToast, has...

Seth Rogen has carved out a very unique niche for himself. As a producer, Rogen has been at the helm of some very successful adaptations of superhero comics like Invincible, The Boys, Tmnt, and Gen V. However, the actor-producer has been public about his reluctance towards working with superhero giants like Marvel and DC, but it looks like that might change with the latest project that he has put in development.
Venom, as he appears in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
It has been reported that Seth Rogen is developing yet another Spider-Man universe, this time focused on Venom, in the form of an R-rated animated film, which will be distinct from Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man, Tom Hardy’s Sony Venom series of films and Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films. Given Rogen’s track record with R-rated comic book properties, it seems the project is in good hands, which...

Comicbook writer Garth Ennis, best known for series such as “Preacher” and “The Boys,” and his nine-year stint at Marvel, is a guest of this week’s Lucca Comics & Games. Ennis, whose current work includes comedy Barbarian strip “Babs,” and the latest instalments of the “Battle Action” and “Punisher” series, spoke about his new book “Partisan,” as well as diverse topics including religion and war.
“[In ‘Partisan’], Steve [Epting] and I explored a similar territory to that of ‘Sara.’ It’s about a woman who finds herself caught in the fighting between Russian partisans and the German invaders in Ukraine from 1942 onwards,” Ennis said.
“Our heroine, with her husband having been called up by the army, finds herself raising two kids alone. Caught in this conflict, she joins the partisans for no other reason than keeping her kids alive. She finds herself doing the most extreme things, purely in the interest of her family.

A new, darker era is just around the corner for Bond, James Bond. Dynamite Entertainment has announced that a brand new "James Bond" comic book series is set to hit shelves early next year, with none other than Garth Ennis writing the upcoming adventures for 007. Ennis, known for his work on "The Boys" and "Preacher," promises to bring a darker edge to the character more closely associated with author Ian Fleming's literary creation.
"When I took a look at the Bond of the Fleming novels, as opposed to the larger-than-life figure from the movies, I saw a great deal more potential — a much darker character in a more interesting world," Ennis said in a press release. 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of Bond, with the character first appearing in Fleming's "Casino Royale" in 1953. This announcement was made as part of the celebration. As for what Ennis has in store for Bond?...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has convinced countless Hollywood A-listers to participate in its sprawling superhero saga over the past 15 years. But don’t expect Seth Rogen to join the stable any time soon.
In a new interview with Polygon, Rogen explained that he is hesitant to work on a massive franchise due to fears about compromising the writing process he has developed with longtime partner Evan Goldberg.
“Honestly, probably fear,” Rogen said when asked about what has stopped him from making a Marvel or DC movie. “We really have a pretty specific way we work; me and Evan [Goldberg] have been writers for 20 years at this point. It’s a fear of the process, honestly. And I say that knowing nothing about the process. There are a lot of Marvel things I love.”

Almost everyone has a memory of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Their cultural ubiquity has been maintained for almost 40 years on toy shelves, game consoles, and Saturday morning cartoons, but there’s something about reptilian ninjutsu masters who binge on pizza slices in the New York City sewers that conjures deeply personal recollections of halcyon youth.
No matter when you met Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, you were a fan for life. This is true for the filmmakers of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. In interviews with Den of Geek, director and co-writer Jeff Rowe, co-writer and producer Seth Rogen, and producer James Weaver all regale us with tales of growing up with Tmnt fever, even dragging their parents on wild toy store hunts to complete their collections.
“It was the first thing that I ever loved in life,” Rowe tells us about his fandom.

Emirati Movie
British actor Jefferson Hall will soon appear on screen in Emirati director Nayla Al Khaja’s psychological thriller “Three,” about a young boy who appears to be possessed.
Al Khaja – who is known for standout shorts including horror film “The Shadow” and “Animal” that both play on Netflix – has just wrapped the independently-produced “Three,” her debut feature, which was shot in Thailand.
Besides, Hall, “Three” also stars Faten Ahmed; Noura Alabed (“Wiladah”); veteran U.A.E. actor Mari Al Halyan (“On Borrowed Time”); Mohannad Bin Huthail (“Rashash”) and emerging Emirati talent Saud Alzarooni.
“Three” marks a rare case of a drama in which a Brit becomes enmeshed with the core of an Emirati family. The film unfolds in an unspecified modern-day Middle Eastern city, where a young boy named Ahmed begins exhibiting strange behavior, eventually leading his mother Maryam, to believe he is possessed. Plot: Follows a realtor, a former tennis star and a plumber who seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime
Review: The only thing that is getting more tiresome than true-crime series are the projects that try to develop a twist on the already twist-heavy genre. While adaptations of actual criminal cases and murderers have not slowed down in recent years, there has been a new crop of fictional tales focused on average people obsessed with true crime and involved in the investigation themselves. At the same time, few have come close to the brilliance of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, which has not stopped podcast-oriented copycats from popping up on other streamers. The latest addition is Peacock’s Based on a True Story. The series from producers Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman boasts the star power of Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina...

"Do we have to wake up to murders every morning?" Peacock has unveiled a full official trailer for a series called Based on a True Story, a true crime comedy riffing on the streaming obsession with true crime content these days. It's everywhere. So many shows and documentaries and endless stories being told about murders and disappearances and cults and mysteries. This is written by Craig Rosenberg, who also wrote for "Preacher" and "The Boys" before this, which means he's the perfect guy to riff on a modern obsession after riffing on superheroes. A realtor, a former tennis star and a plumber seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America's obsession with true crime. Sounds dangerous, no? Emmy Award nominee Kaley Cuoco stars as Ava Bartlett, with Chris Messina as Nathan, and Tom Bateman as Matt. Liana Liberato, Priscilla Quintana, Natalia Dyer, Alex Alomar Akpobome, and Aisha Alfa also co-star.

“In a Rian Johnson show, it’s all about these little breadcrumbs,” reveals editor Glenn Garland about the secret to editing a genre-bending murder mystery like Peacock’s hit new series “Poker Face.” For our recent webchat he explains that while each episode revolves around a mystery to be solved, the show still needs to be grounded by believable performances and storylines, so “that the audience knows where they are, and that they feel like they’re in safe hands every step of the way,” adding that “the key is, if something’s heightened, you still have to believe that the character believes everything that they’re saying, and there’s not a false moment. So with editing, it’s really about calibrating everything as far as, never wanting the audience to go, ‘wait, I’m watching a show.’ You want it to be like ‘I’m living this episode...

Summer movie season is upon us and with it, the biggest movies of the year are about to compete for your hard-earned money. Will you go see the latest superhero movie? Or perhaps you're more excited about Pixar finally making a return to theaters with a wholly original movie like their ambitious romantic comedy "Elemental."

The new Peacock series “Mrs. Davis” boasts some unusual sights and sounds: a nun on a motorbike, earpieces feeding communication from a worldwide AI into the mouths of willing human supplicants, a gruesome childhood accident, a horse wired with C4 — and that’s just in the first few of its eight episodes.
But the strangest thing about this ambitious program is how its voice feels like it’s replicating a source material that doesn’t exist. “Mrs. Davis” creates the pervasive feeling that it’s based on a beloved cult comic book; specifically, its particular recipe of big-swing speculative ideas, loopy world-building, and irreverent characters brings to mind non-superhero comics series like “Preacher,” “Y the Last Man,” or “Paper Girls.” But “Mrs. Davis” has no previous incarnation; it’s the original creation of Tara Hernandez (“The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon”) and “Lost,” “Watchmen” and “The Leftovers” mastermind Damon Lindelof.

Is Bella Ramsey the next big thing in Hollywood? After playing Lady Lyanna Mormont in HBO‘s Game of Thrones and Ellie Williams in The Last of Us, Ramsey is ready for their next significant role. This role is Ramsey’s first project since their stunning performance in The Last of Us [the actor is non-binary and now prefers they/them pronouns]. According to Deadline, Ramsey will play “an aspiring playwright in the court of King Charles II who suffers from a rare condition that means she is entirely covered in hair” for Monstrous Beauty.
Romola Garai directs from a script she wrote, combining fiction and real historical characters. Trying to describe "Mrs. Davis," the new Peacock TV series from creators Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, will be a tough hill to climb for any pop culture critic. I feel like I've settled on "The Lonely Island riffing on Neal Stephenson," but there's also shades of Chuck Jones, early Kurt Vonnegut, Lindelof's own "The Leftovers," and even the classic Vertigo comic book "Preacher." It's goofy until it's sincere, outrageous until it cuts to the bone, frustrating until it's ... Well, until it's not.
One thing is for sure: it's the most audacious science fiction TV show I've seen since the early episodes of HBO's "Westworld," and the two episodes that screened at the SXSW Film Festival make a hard sell for the Peacock streaming service. What was once a footnote in the streaming wars has increasingly distinguished itself by taking big swings, and this is certainly a big swing. I...

Exclusive: Jack Lowden, star of forthcoming TV mini-series The Gold, and Apple TV+ hit, Slow Horses, believes that actors should stick to what they know best and to not allow their political opinions to get in the way of their work.
As far as he’s concerned, ”you’re not an actor ” when “you’re sort of political.”
However, it’s crime, not politics, that’s at the center of the rollicking BBC One and Paramount+ six-part real-life heist thriller The Gold. The show is inspired by the imfafous Brinks Mat gold robbery of 1983 — on of Britain’s most storied crimes ever.
Lowden, partner in a film production company with Saoirse Ronan and Dominic Norris (Benediction), tells us that he’s not an actor with “a cause,” although he admits that he has played a lot of characters “that have a cause.” Lowden cites Ian Macdonald,...
