While it may feel like The Hunger Games franchise just arrived on Netflix, it will be leaving the streamer at the end of the month. The story of Katniss Everdeen starting a true revolution in the dystopian world and leading it to victory has captivated young adult viewers for more than 10 years now, but it will soon have to find another home.
On May 31, all of the films in The Hunger Games franchise will be removed from Netflix. But that fate awaits more movies than that. Here are 8 other movies you might want to watch before the end of the month, before they're gone from your subscription.

Exclusive: Netflix has picked up UK rights to Kaur, a short film that debuted last year on British streamers Itvx and BritBox.
The film is set to drop on Netflix in the second window on May 3 following the deal for film, which is from Parvinder Shergill and Juggy Sohal. Shergill stars opposite Stephen Uppal (Hollyoaks).
Kaur bills itself as “the first film in history” to follow the story of a British Sikh woman (Shergill), who decides to wear a turban for the first time against her father’s wishes. Her mother (Nina Wadia), is supportive of the decision, but struggles with the tensions it causes.
A full-length feature film version is in development, Shergill told Deadline, with her Pinder Productions and Sohal’s Flip The Script Network attached, the same production set-up as the short. Shergill, who along with filmmaking is an NHS doctor, will again play the lead role,...

Cancelled Netflix sci-fi thriller The Mothership was “full of mystery and threat” and had “the makings of a classic,” its storyboard artist tells us.
In January, news broke that Netflix had made the decision to scrap The Mothership – a sci-fi thriller starring Halle Berry that had been shot and was initially scheduled for release in 2023.
To date, the only official comment we’ve heard from Netflix came from interim content boss Bela Bajaria, who at a press event in February said there were “lots of issues during production, and so everybody just felt like it was the right thing to… do something else together eventually.”
The decision to abandon a relatively high-profile movie with some Oscar-winning talent attached is unusual – Bajara herself admitted that the situation was “rare” – though not unheard of. Over the past year, Warner Bros has infamously scrapped the likes of Batgirl, Scoob! 2 and Coyote Vs Acme.

After releasing a demo during the Future Games Show this past June on Steam, publisher SelectaPlay and developer Broken Bird Games will release a demo for PlayStation of their upcoming psychological horror title Luto. Arriving November 30th via the PlayStation Store, the demo, titled “The Choice”, is a stand-alone demo of Luto, giving fans the experience of the setting, atmosphere and narrative without revealing or spoiling details of the full game.
It’s not clear if the demo will be different from the Steam demo, which is still available for fans to check out.
In Luto, you play as a person who, pained by loss and the resulting mental anguish, is trapped in their own home. Finding a way to leave will result in a series of paths that will “challenge your senses.” That in turn involves exploring the pain caused by the loss of a loved one, the horror...

CNN, whose brief foray into subscription streaming was snuffed out shortly after the close of the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger in April 2022, is officially getting real estate on Max.
A new offering, CNN Max, will be added to the streaming service in what Warner Bros. Discovery called an “open beta” on September 27. It will consist of a 24/7 stream pulled from the news network’s U.S. and international feeds, with a sprinkling of original fare, with user feedback welcomed. For many reasons, some having to do with contracts with pay-tv operators, it won’t be a full-over-the top version of linear CNN, and certain talent and new shows like the new 9 p.m. hour hosted by Kaitlan Collins will not be in the mix.
Wbd CEO David Zaslav hinted at the new venture during the company’s quarterly earnings call several weeks ago, saying news and sports make SVOD platforms “come alive.

Business-wise, "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One" may have been a slight victim of the Barbenheimer phenomenon, but that didn't mean that Christopher McQuarrie's third entry in the franchise wasn't another stellar piece of blockbuster entertainment from what is easily the greatest Hollywood franchise going.
Paramount Pictures made the weird decision of opening "Dead Reckoning" just one week before all the premium screens were swallowed up by "Oppenheimer." However, for those of us who did see it on those screens (I actually saw it four times), it blew us away with its impeccable craft, breathless action, and fun, twisty, timely tale of artificial intelligence. In fact, it currently sits atop my list as the best film of 2023 so far, and when the lights went up in the theater after the film ended, I wanted to watch "Dead Reckoning Part Two" immediately.
Of course, that wasn't possible since they...

The Gabrielle Union-starring rom-com The Perfect Find and new seasons of deceptive baking sensation Is It Cake? and The Witcher, marking the beginning of the end of Henry Cavill’s starring run, are some of the much-anticipated titles still set to come to Netflix this month.
In The Perfect Find, Union plays a fashion editor who, after a public breakup and career implosion, starts working for her former rival Darcy Hill (Gina Torres) and catches the eye of a younger videographer (Keith Powers), who happens to be the boss’ son. As a romance blossoms, Union’s character begins to question what she really wants from the next phase of her life. As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

Fans are saying farewell to Manifest and Never Have I Ever.
For the week of June 5 to June 11, the series dominated Netflix’s English-language series list. Manifest as Season 4, Part 2 took the top spot with 78.15M hours viewed in the week after it debuted on June 2. The enthusiasm surrounding the final episodes also boosted Season 1 back into the Top 10 with 18.18M hours viewed.
Devi Vishwakumar’s senior year was met with near equal excitement, as Never Have I Ever Season 4jumped to No. 2 on the list following its June 8 debut. In the first few days of release, Season 4 racked up 76.21M hours viewed. It would not be surprising to see Never Have I Ever tally another successful week during the next measurement window, when it will have been available for the entire seven-day span.
Those new releases pushed Fubar to No. 3, though the series still drew 42.28M hours viewed after two weeks at No.

It’s official, The Mother is one of Netflix’s most popular films of all time.
The Jennifer Lopez action thriller has continued to dominate the streamer since it debuted over Mother’s Day weekend. It tallied another 16.48M hours viewed for the week of May 29 to June 4, making it the most-watched film on the service for the fourth week in a row. With 229.30M total hours viewed, it is now No. 8 on the Most Popular English Film List, replacing Purple Hearts and bumping The Irishman off the list entirely.
The film still has time to make its way up the most popular list. Its 28-day premiere measurement window will end on June 11, and it is already inching fairly close to its next two opponents on the list — Extraction with 231.3M hours viewed and The Adam Project with 233.2M hours viewed.

Netflix gained a new competitor last month (sort of) when HBO Max and Discovery+ combined forces to create the confusingly-named Max. With its list of new releases for June 2023, however, Netflix doesn’t have too much to worry about.
This month is filled with some major Netflix original titles, not the least of which is The Witcher season 3 volume 1 on June 29. Though star Henry Cavill is set to leave the Polish folklore/video game adaptation in season 4, he remains very much entrenched as the titular Witcher in this next go-around. Other big TV hits include Manifest season 4 part 2 (June 2), Big Mouth spinoff Human Resources season 2 (June 9), and animated King Kong series Skull Island (June 22). That’s not even to mention the return of Black Mirror season 6. That still has yet to receive a release date but we have no doubt it will be properly epic once it arrives.

HBO’s new series The Last of Us premiered to the approval of fans of the video game and viewers who are new to the franchise. Though the thrilling story has just begun, the first episode established the importance of the soundtrack in setting the mood for the post-apocalyptic world.
Created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (the latter also wrote and directed the video game), The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal as grizzled survivor Joel and Bella Ramsey as a teenage girl named Ellie. Taking place after a fungal plague has ravaged the globe, it centers around Joel fulfilling his task of smuggling Ellie beyond a quarantine zone in Boston.

HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.
After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

Zerlina Maxwell is leaving MSNBC after the end of her Peacock streaming series.
MSNBC announced last month that it was canceling streaming shows from Maxwell and Ayman Mohyeldin that had appeared on the news brand’s Peacock hub. At the time, the network said that it wanted Maxwell to continue to serve as an analyst. Mohyeldin will continue his weekend MSNBC show and will serve as a fill-in anchor on weekdays.
Maxwell said Tuesday that the last episode of Zerlina on Peacock, set for September 15, also will be her last day with MSNBC. She has hosted the show since 2020.

Zerlina Maxwell is leaving MSNBC.
Maxwell, one of the first anchors to launch an all-streaming program for the NBCUniversal-backed news outlet, announced her departure on social media Tuesday. MSNBC decided to cancel her program last month, marking some of the first cutbacks to its streaming ambitions. A program led by Ayman Mohyeldin was also canceled, but he is expected to remain as a weekend host on MSNBC’s cable network.
Executives had hoped Maxwell, a Democratic activist and former campaign aide to Hillary Clinton would stay on in an analyst role. But she appears to have declined. “My last episode of @zerlinashow on 9/15 next week will also be my last day at @msnbc,” she posted Tuesday. The anchor thanked her production team for the ability to use our show and my voice to put the spotlight on black and brown communities that are not often considered in mainstream conversations.

Becoming Nicholas Sparks’ literary agent and then film production president might not seem like the best preparation for making a romantic drama about cannibalism, but Per Capita Prods. founder Theresa Park is transitioning to a wider, edgier range of projects with ease.
Park is producing an animated children’s show based on Michael Buckley’s bestselling fantasy novel series “The Sisters Grimm” for Apple TV+. And she arrives in Venice for the Sept. 2 world premiere of “Bones and All,” Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of Camille DeAngelis’s novel about a couple (Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell) whose tastes run more towards hand eating than the hand holding found in Sparks’ works. Her staff was notified about the move Wednesday by MSNBC President Rashida Jones, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Executives would like Maxwell, a Democratic activist and former campaign aide to Hillary Clinton, to stay on in an analyst role. Mohyeldin, who launched a program that airs weekends on MSNBC cable and streaming one day a week on Peacock, will maintain his weekend linear duties. He...
