Volcano (incorporating the Craitbul dreamtime story) is the feature-length cinematic centrepiece of the Main Corner Complex, Mount Gambier South Australia.
The story describes how Craitbul's family, pursued by the evil spirit Tennateona , was forced to moved to different campsites across the region, and, interestingly, displays a sophisticated understanding of geomorphology.
This film is the curtain raiser and supporting short film to the feature documentary ''Volcano" The Mystery of Mount Gambier'' both permanently playing twice a day at the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
Craitbul tells the Aboriginal story of how the volcanic cluster at Mount Gambier was created. His cooking ovens were the volcanoes of the area.
Craitbul was the giant ancestor of the Boandik people who inhabited the region around Mount Gambier region.
