The movie is a remake of the 1959 Edward D. Wood Jr. cult film Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957), which is widely regarded as being one of the worst films ever made due to its nonsensical plot, shoddy production values and incompetent direction. This remake however is not intended to be a parody, but rather a "good" version of the story, intending to be a realization of Wood's original vision, should he have had the necessary budget to achieve it.
James Rolfe stars as an unnamed police officer, whose name-tag has merely the word "Policeman" written on it. Jokingly, Rolfe has stated his character's full name is "Officer Cop Policeman".
Conrad Brooks was also in the 1959 movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space" .
As mentioned in Plan 9 from Outer Space (60th Anniversary) the Ed Wood Classic (2019), James Rolfe, who played Policeman, was goofing around with the prop gun between takes, imitating the careless actions of the actor waving the gun around in the original movie, but was quickly warned by the weapon wrangler not to do that. While most of the time the guns were not loaded, even if the guns are loaded with blanks, they can cause fatalities if they go off accidentally, as tragically proven with Jon-Erik Hexum.
The Stephen King Rules shirt is a nod to the movie Monster Squad where one of the main characters is wearing the shirt.
