USA Network is returning to the legal drama arena with The Rainmaker, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel and its film adaptation. The project, from writer Michael Seitzman (Code Black), Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, has received a series order by the NBCUniversal cable network, capping a six-year journey by Seitzman to bring the book to television.
This marks USA Network’s first new scripted series in awhile as part of a planned relaunch as a destination for scripted originals. The network currently shares Chucky with Syfy, which is on the bubble for a Season 4 renewal. It also is in advanced negotiations to pick up Syfy’s Resident Alien, which, as Deadline reported exclusively, is poised to become a USA original.

USA Network is reentering the scripted originals space.
The NBCUniversal-owned basic cable network has handed out a straight-to-series order for a reboot of The Rainmaker, from producers Lionsgate TV and Blumhouse TV, marking its first non-shared scripted series since 2020.
The cabler, which saw its former hits Suits and White Collar pop on Netflix, currently shares linear rights with corporate sibling Syfy to Chucky as its lone scripted series. The drama is the only scripted original to air on the network that previously ranked as the most watched cable network for a dozen years straight.
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by John Grisham and subsequent 1997 feature film adaptation starring Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Jon Voight and Danny DeVito, The Rainmaker revolves around Rudy Baylor, a fresh out of law school attorney who goes head to head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond, as well as his law school girlfriend. Here's an experiment that you can try in just about any town in America:
Walk into a public place that's full of adults between the ages of 35 and 50 and shout the simple two-word phrase "dental plan!"
There's a very strong chance that some sophisticated barfly will respond -- almost involuntarily -- with "Lisa needs braces!"
If you fall into the demographic described above, then we probably don't need to tell you that those quotes are from The Simpsons.
Specifically, they're from a 1993 episode entitled "Last Exit to Springfield," which many fans consider to be one of the series' finest.
The Simpsons, of course, is widely agreed to be one of the sharpest and most intelligent sitcoms -- animated or otherwise -- in TV history.

There’s a photograph in Kimberley Harris’ office that might catch some visitors by surprise. It’s a picture of Gabriel Macht, the actor who played Harvey Specter in the USA legal drama Suits.
You know the character — reckless, slick as ice. In other words, the polar opposite of the attorney who sits at this desk.
Harris has been heading NBCUniversal’s legal department since 2013, overseeing contracts, litigation and all other legal matters for the theme parks, broadcast and cable networks (like the one that aired Suits), streaming services and studio lots that make up the company’s array of businesses. But there’s another, very different sort of lawyer who turns out to have inspired Harris to pursue the career path that she ultimately chose: former President Barack Obama.
Back in 2008, Harris was working at Davis Polk as an associate, climbing her way up to partner in its litigation department.

Meghan Markle has reportedly become “almost the breadwinner” in her marriage to Prince Harry. This power shift could weigh on the couple financially, leading to marital discord in the next “three to five years,” states a royal commentator.
Meghan Markle’s higher earning potential than Prince Harry could cause marital discord
In an interview with Talk TV‘s Kevin Sullivan, commentator Samara Gill shared her projected outlook for Meghan and Harry’s marriage. She believes their union will end, and the main reason will be money.
“I’m gonna call it. It’s going to be divorce in the next three to five years,” Gill claims.
The commentator believes that Harry’s earning potential may come behind Meghan’s in the coming years, which could cause strife between the couple. Gill believes, “When the money pot starts to dry up, that’s when people like Meghan jump to the next option.

There have been conflicting reports about whether Prince Harry was invited to his good friend and Prince Archie’s godfather Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster’s wedding to Olivia Henson on June 7 at Chester Cathedral in northwest England.
Some news outlets reported that Harry and Meghan were left off the guest list because Prince William, who served as an usher, was attending the affair. Other outlets, however, claim that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did receive an invite but declined to avoid any tension running into the Prince of Wales.
Whatever the case, a royal commentator has “worrying echoes” and is pointing out how Prince Harry is mirroring Meghan’s behavior with how she’s treated some of her friends and family. Here’s more on that and why the expert finds it “disturbing” that Harry still has met a certain person in the former Suits star‘s life.

Former USA Network drama “White Collar” was a basic-cable relic before it was added to the Netflix library on April 1, 2024. But like “Suits” before it, another USA drama that found new life when it wound up on Netflix, “White Collar” has since turned up on Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming Overall (original and acquired series) list — twice.
“White Collar,” a Fox-produced show, has been on Hulu (because Disney’s Fox acquisition closed in 2019) since December 2018. But until Netflix nabbed the co-exclusive rights this spring, the series had never been a factor in streaming. The show, which ran from 2009-2014 on USA Network, was pretty much an afterthought. Just like “Suits.”
But now, like “Suits,” “White Collar” is getting a sequel series.
“We’re gonna reboot. I’m writing the script,” series creator Jeff Eastin said at Variety’s TV FYC Fest. “It’s the original cast.”

Meghan Markle is desperate to salvage her tainted public image and remain relevant in literally any area she thinks she can.
Meghan’s Lifestyle Brand Is A Dud
Her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, shows no sign of promise, and the momentum behind it has stalled significantly since she first announced the launch at the same time Prince William gave a speech at an awards ceremony in honor of Prince Harry and William’s mother, Diana, this past March.
Meghan’s Lemonada podcast deal has barely been mentioned since she first inked the contract in February. The Sussexes jaunt to Nigeria had the appearance of a “royal” visit without the benefit of actually being royal.
Harry and Meghan’s association with Netflix appears to be lagging, as all the “exciting projects” Meghan said she and her husband were preparing have yet to come to fruition. And her shiny new...

While the success of Suits on Netflix might have worked wonderfully in the favor of series creator Aaron Korsh and other members who were a part of the crew, it worked rather well for the makers of another show as well. White Collar, a USA Network show, wrapped up in 2014, leaving fans dejected and wanting more. But it seems like their requests have been finally answered, as a decade after its first culmination, a White Collar reboot might be on the cards.

The success of Suits left Netflix wanting for more. The Gabriel Macht starrer broke streaming records even four years after the last season of the show aired on the USA Network. And Netflix knew they wanted something like it.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in different places when it comes to “moving on” from all the royal family drama. An author says while the Duke of Sussex is “still brooding over the past,” the Duchess of Sussex is looking ahead. Despite their differences, however, a relationship expert believes it won’t necessarily cause problems in the royal couple’s marriage.
Meghan’s current ‘focus’ is on the United States, not past royal drama

It’s a known fact that TV shows that are currently on air do well or poorly depending on their media presence, but the same goes for all series that have ever been released. In 2023, the media soil was perfect for a once popular TV show’s overwhelming popularity resurgence, making it the most binge-watched series of the year at some point. Now, it has another chance to shine in 2024!

Does the world seem like it's more complicated and confusing than it used to be?
When you look at the way people lived in previous generations, are you struck by a vague sense that you missed out on something?
Do you sometimes feel as though it just hasn't been your day, your week, your month -- or even your year?
If so, you're not alone.
This might sound like the voice-over that plays over a beach volleyball scene in a commercial for the latest magic-bullet anti-depressant, but it's actually the beginning of an attempt to understand the viewing habits of tens of millions of Netflix customers.
A Surprising Trend
You see, in most previous decades, one of the defining traits of young people was a rabid interest in all things new and innovative, often to the exclusion of anything deemed "old."
That's still the case for members of Generation Z in most areas.

Not much is publicly known about Robert Shinn, the elusive and mysterious founder of 7M Films and the pastor of Shekinah Church – as seen in Netflix docuseries Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult. Indeed, Shinn seems to prefer to stick to the background and let the talent assembled by his agency get all of the attention.
Founded by Shinn and son Isaiah Shinn, 7M Films is not the biggest talent agency in the world, or the most successful, but it might be one of the most viral. 7M traditionally has not been looking to boost working actors to new heights, but to tap into a talented community of self-motivated dancers, singers, musicians, and performers who have the skills necessary to go viral on TikTok with a little help from 7M. However, viral videos and brand partnerships aren’t Robert Shinn’s first attempt at getting a taste of Hollywood glory.

As far as legal series are concerned, Suits has become a classic. Combining the complexities of the American legal system with the charming drama, and led by the charismatic duo of Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht, Suits has become a classic of the genre and one of the most beloved shows in this category of all time. Now, fans will probably remember that the series ended in 2019 after nine seasons; the 10th and final episode of Season 9 was released on September 25, 2019, marking the end of a very successful run. And while Netflix fans had the opportunity to enjoy the series, the popular streaming service does not offer the final season, so many of the fans missed out on the ending.
The good news is that this is going to change soon, as it has been confirmed officially that the final season of Suits is arriving on Netflix on July...

Could the original Suits cast reunite for a spin-off movie? The show’s stars say there is a strong possibility, but it would require the blessing of the show’s creator, Aaron Korsh. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight from the show’s reunion panel at the Atx TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on Sunday (June 2), Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Amanda Schull, and Dulé Hill shared their thoughts on a potential film adaptation of the beloved legal drama. “Honestly, I think it wouldn’t surprise me if they did a model where you end up having some type of film,” said Hill, who played Alex Williams in the show’s final three seasons. He added that he could see a potential project or movie on Peacock for the show. “Oh my gosh, we’d have so much fun,” added Rafferty, who starred as Donna Paulsen across all nine seasons of the popular USA Network drama.

“What took you so long?”
That was the general vibe of the “Suits” reunion panel Sunday afternoon, where stars Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Amanda Schull, and executive Jeff Wachtel gathered to discuss the legal drama that aired for nine seasons on USA Network but gained an expanded following when it hit Netflix in June 2023.
“The people in this room know it’s hard to make TV, and it’s really hard to make good TV, let alone great TV,” Wachtel said. “But on some level, when people ask me if I was surprised [by the resurgence on Netflix], I’m like, what took you so long?”
Wachtel, who was the head of programming at USA Network when “Suits” premiered, praised the cast as well as the casting director who put them together, Bonnie Zane, who was watching from the audience.

Who could imagine Suits without Donna?
Well, believe it or not, Sarah Rafferty’s character — who arguably completes the dynamic between Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike (Patrick J. Adams) and is a part of the fabric of the USA Network legal drama — was not expected to be a series regular when they shot the pilot episode.
“Gabriel called and said, ‘Look, there’s this unbelievable actress that I know, and I know we’re casting Donna and she’s not a regular but it’s the person who’s going to be my assistant. I would love you to read her,” remembered Jeff Wachtel, the former President of USA Network who was largely responsible for developing Suits as well as much of the network’s “Blue Sky” programming.

Could “Suits” be a movie? It’s not out of the question, said star Patrick J. Adams during Sunday’s reunion panel at the Atx TV Festival.
Following a retrospective panel with Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Amanda Schull, Abigail Spencer and executive Jeff Wachtel, a fan asked if the cast or creators would ever be interested in a reunion movie. While creator Aaron Korsh couldn’t be there — and is working on the spinoff — he’s interested in it, according to Adams.
“I am a person of no power or authority, but obviously, there’s a ‘Suits: LA‘ show that is being made. That is the focus of Aaron, I think he would agree,” Adams, who played Mike Ross on the legal drama, said. “But it’s definitely something he’s interested in doing, in trying to get the band back together. With the resurgence of Suits, there’s already a spinoff of the USA Network series in the works — but what about returning to Pearson Hardman (or whatever it’s being called nowadays)?
It’s not out of the realm of possibility, star Patrick J. Adams revealed during Atx’s Suits retrospective where Adams was joined by fellow cast members Sarah Rafferty, Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, and Abigail Spencer.
“It’s definitely something [creator Aaron Korsh] is interested in doing, trying to get the band back together,” Adams said in response to a fan question about whether Suits would get the movie treatment, similar to other USA Network series. “It’s gonna depend on a million things if that can happen, but is it possible.”
As for whether the cast is in, Adams was a firm yes, as was Hill.

The ninth season of Suits will head to Netflix on July 1, the streamer announced Sunday. The final installment of last year’s viral phenomenon was previously only available on Peacock.
The news came as castmembers Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Amanda Schull, Abigail Spencer and former USA Network president Jeff Wachtel gathered Sunday for a reunion panel presented by Tudum at the Atx TV Festival in Austin, Texas.
Suits, which originally premiered on USA Network from 2011 to 2019, followed Mike Ross (Adams), a college dropout with a photographic memory who is hired at a New York law firm by Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). The show’s first eight seasons debuted on Netflix last year to great success — by the end of 2023, it was the most streamed show of the year.
Following the newfound success of the series, NBC ordered a pilot for spinoff show Suits: L.A. earlier this year.

Major Spoilers for Suits
By now everybody knows about the USA Network’s relatively hit series at its time of release which became one of the biggest series ever after it came out on Netflix in June 2023. Yes, we are talking about Aaron Korsh‘s legal drama series Suits. Which got over 3.14 billion minutes of watch time surpassing the fantasy drama Manifest. This led to NBC greenlighting a pilot for an L.A.-based spin-off series titled Suits: L.A. with which they are hoping to capture the original series’ audience. But in this article, I am trying to figure out if a spin-off of Suits will even work because one has already failed.

So many fans around the world were excited when it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged. The future for the British royals looked very bright at that time. The couple, along with Prince Willam and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), were dubbed the “Fab Four” and it was thought that they would work together to make a difference for their causes.
But less than two years after the Sussexes’ wedding, those thoughts were dashed when the duke and duchess announced that they were stepping down from their royal duties and wouldn’t be working with William, Kate, or any members of Harry’s family again.
Looking back now, some still wonder if signs were there early on. Well now, a video circulating online is highlighting a moment during Harry and Meghan’s first joint interview following their engagement that shows the former...

Before Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, Princess Diana was one of the most photographed women in the world just like her daughters-in-law are today. Also, like her sons’ wives, Diana did humanitarian work with organizations for causes close to her heart. Both Kate and Meghan have drawn comparisons to their mother-in-law when they paid tribute to her by wearing accessories that once belonged to the late princess.
But something Meghan did recently brought about more comparisons to Princess Diana, which the future king calls “offensive” to him and his wife.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a multi-year, mega-deal with Netflix shortly after stepping down as senior royals in 2020. That announcement led to many fans expecting a good amount of content from the duke and duchess to be released on the platform. As time passed though, questions arose about when and if the Sussexes were going to release any content at all for fans to stream.
Finally, in July 2021, Archewell Productions announced that Meghan was working on a children’s animated series. But in April 2022, Netflix axed that program titled Pearl while it was still in the development stages. However, in December 2022, the docuseries Harry & Meghan was released and became one of Netflix’s most-watched documentaries. Two more Sussex-produced programs Heart of Invictus and Life to Lead followed but failed to generate buzz or pull in numbers anywhere near what their docuseries did.

Step aside, Netflix — there’s a new churn leader in town.
Amazon Prime Video boasts the lowest rate of customer cancellations in the streaming industry, according to a new study by Parks Associates. Prime Video’s current annual churn rate is 8 percent, which means eight out of 100 Prime Video members cancel their service within a 12-month period. (A customer who returns within the same time frame would be counted as both churn and current subscriber.)
By comparison, it sounds like “90-Day Fiancé” is not creating many 365-day subscribers: The Discovery+ annual churn rate is a whopping 43 percent.
There’s a pretty big gap between the churn rates of league-leaders Prime Video and Netflix and the other major streaming platforms. From April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, Hulu’s churn rate was 15 percent, Max’s (fka HBO Max) was 17 percent, as was Peacock’s; the Disney+ churn rate was 21 percent and Paramount+ was 24 percent.

The Netflix special roasting NFL great Tom Brady made it onto the streaming charts for the week it premiered — despite it only being up for a few hours of that week.
The Roast of Tom Brady racked up 279 million minutes for the week of April 29-May 5, good for 10th place among original series in Nielsen’s rankings. The special streamed live on May 5, meaning it tallied those viewing minutes in under 12 hours. (With a running time of almost three hours, the 279 million minutes equate to about 1.6 million complete runs of the special.)
Bluey moved back into the top overall spot with 1.18 billion minutes of viewing on Disney+, adding to its total as the most streamed title in the United States so far this year (21.73 billion minutes and counting). The Netflix effect continues.
The O.G. streamer has seen major viewership success with the licensing of older titles from other producers since last year, when the long-concluded USA legal drama “Suits” dominated the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for weeks on end. Since then, several library titles have seen similar trajectories.
The newest example of the Netflix effect is “The Judge,” a 2014 film starring Robert Downey Jr. that was streamed for 703 million minutes in its first five days on Netflix. That made it the seventh-most-streamed title of the week of April 29-May 5, holding its own compared to TV titles with much longer running times.
Also notable on this week’s chart was “Dead Boy Detectives,” which rose to become the No. 8 most-streamed title with 699 million minutes watched in its first full week on Netflix after missing the overall Top 10 and instead landing at No. 3 on the streaming originals chart last week,...

Season 7 ofSuits really feels like the beginning of the end, doesn’t it? Season 6 wrapped up the foundational saga that was Mike Ross’ (Patrick J. With that major storyline in the past, this season spends some time reshuffling while preparing for the end-of-season departures of three main cast members. As Pearson Specter Litt attempts to remain a viable firm while weathering some major changes, there’s a whole lot of high-stakes drama to be had — and even more office swapping.
If there’s one word to describe how Suits Season 7 kicks off, it would be upheaval. There’s so much of it! With Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) officially relocated to Chicago, the leadership at Pearson Specter Litt has to find...

As much as things change at the Pearson Specter Litt law firm, the more they stay the same. The case of the week may change, but Mike still has a secret and the fashion is still impeccable.
When Season 4 ended, the characters of Suits were professing their love. After receiving her father’s blessing, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) proposes to Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle). Thankfully for viewers, she says yes. At the same time, Donna Paulsen (Sarah Raferty) confesses to her boss Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) that she’s in love with him — and leaving him. He can’t admit his feelings for her, so it’s too hard for her to be around him. She’s not leaving the firm entirely, but she has plans to go work for Louis.
Drama isn’t new in the office, but this certainly makes things tense in the Suits Season 5 premiere.

As every new season of Suits starts, it’s important to keep track of two things: who knows Mike’s secret and what the current name is of the law firm.
We’ll start with the easier one. When Season 2 ended, Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) had finally revealed to Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) that he didn’t go to Harvard, doesn’t have a law degree, and is putting himself and the entire firm at risk just by working there. As for who else knows, it’s only named partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), senior partner Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), and Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), Harvey’s assistant. If Mike’s secret were to be exposed, the fact that they knew — and employed him — would kill the firm and all their careers.
You’d think untangling the web of Mike’s secret would be the most complicated...

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are British royals but an author predicts their lives won’t be all smooth sailing. When the 5 and 2-year-old grow up, “massive difficulties” will come into play for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children.
Archie and Lilibet’s ‘half-royals’ life in the U.S. is likely to be challenging
Archie and Lilibet live in Montecito, California, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in a sprawling oceanside mansion. (The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a combined net worth in the millions, thanks in part to lucrative partnerships.)It has a garden, chicken coop, pool, playground, and more and can be glimpsed periodically in Harry & Meghan.
But it isn’t until they’re older that author and commentator Tom Quinn sees bumps in the road for the Sussex kids. “The time bomb waiting to go off is Archie and Lillibet as half-Royals in America,...
