This deeply charming companion/spin-off/afterward to Pixar's Up is exactly what you'd want from a "Pixar TV series" being both pleasantly brief, fantastically executed and brilliantly fun. It also came with an undertone of unintentional melancholy due to the release's proximity to the death of Ed Asner - but it's a really beautifully crafted little show and serves as a fittingly respectful epitaph to his long career. Hopefully on Disney+ we get a few more Pixar excursions like this.

Just a good Pixar hug, with beloved characters in sweet situations. In these troubled times, it feels good to disconnect with something lovely. Sadly, this comes just as Ed Asner, Carl's voice, passed away, so this makes it bittersweet, but still...More sweet than bitter.
A fitting swan song for Asner

I'm not sure if anymore performances are coming but Asner had the good fortune to go out with these shorts being among his final work. They are delightful. They are droll. They manage to be a touching portrayal of the bond between an older owner and their new dog.
Dug is such a perfectly realized character; his animation, his dialog and personality are quintessentially the lovable family dog. This is more than solid Pixar. This is a great series of short films.

A Great Spin-off

victory lap for Ed Asner
SnoopyStyle16 September 2023
After the events of 'Up', Dug the dog and Carl (Ed Asner) return to the world on the blimp. They sell the blimp and buy a house to start anew together.
It's a simple show. It's charming. It may be a little too simple. It's mostly Dug in the world. It needs Russell and other kids and other dogs. They ended with only five episodes. Ed Asner died in 2021 and that most likely ends this series. It's a sweet series of shorts, but it didn't do anything substantial until the stand-alone short or final episode, Carl's Date. In fact, I don't think Carl's Date counts as one of the Dug Days episodes. It fitting that this is the final final chapter for Ed Asner. He had one last great hurrah with Up and this is his victory lap for a career well-done.

I have No idea how anyone gave this a 1. :o Obviously they have no childlike wonder. I'm Sad for them. But I'm Happy for the Rest of US!! :D
I LOVE DUG!! And when I found the Talking Dug Stuffed Dog from Disney back in 2011, I got one immediately for my 5 year old grandson and 1 for me! Ha hahahhaa This show is adorable and if you have dogs you will love it even more.
RIP Ed Asner :( I was so sad to learn he passed just as this was released. But the Man left US all with a smile on our hearts and faces thru these cartoons. Thank You Ed. We Love You and will miss You! :( Enjoy this series with your kids, grandkids, or just by your own big kid Self! ;D.

Fun time with Pixar and a Dog!

Dug Days (2021) :
Brief Review -
Fun time with Pixar and a Dog! Dug Days is a fine break from emotional feature films of Pixar. A story of a pet dog named Dug, who lives in a house with an old man, Carl, from Pixar's 'UP' (2009). This is more like a fun trip than a dog's adventures but whatever it is, it's entertaining. Some Timepass!
In the first episode we see Dug gaurding Bird seeding house and is set off against a mischievous squirrel. Dug spends a day with Naughty puppies in the second episode and this one is heartwarming. The third episode is about Dug's heroics. Dug smells a fire and notifies Carl for which he get a medal.
Fourth one is visually grand but the shortest from this session. And the finale, Fifth episode is about Dug's realisation of being a pet and getting everything easily which subsequently turns into a friendship.
Overall, Pixar has made enchanting shorts which can be enjoyed by audiences from all age groups. People who have already watched 'UP', this one will be little special but the ones who haven't watched it shouldn't need any references. It's pretty understandable and fresh even for new views.

Cute but too Short

It was nice to see 'Up' characters we love back on screen. The show was fun and the animation still has the same top-notch quality. I just wasn't satisfied with the running time per episode. It felt like there were story concepts that are better executed in a longer time. Overall, it's a great idea especially for 'Up' fans but I hope there will be more episodes in the next seasons.
It's decent.

Dug Days is definitely targeted to a young audience but I still liked it. It is nice to see what happened to Carl, Dug and Russel, after the events of Up. The animation is not as nice as the animation in Up but it is still not bad. It was nice to see Ed Asner's last project. Rest in Piece Ed Asner. Dug Days isn't great or anything but it was a nice way to pass the time.
May God Bless Ed Asner

This is the greatest show since Up! Slap happy funny. Great writing, awesome character Doug, and his dog wisdom is something every pet owner can relate to.
Great legacy for the sweetest man I never knew.
Please keep this going!
LOVE IT!

Not that much to talk about really. Just a handfull of shorts. Basic storytelling with a basic narrative. Not that thats a bad thing, given the runtime. But all in all, it doesn't really offer much either.
6/10: sure i guess.

Heart warming return for 2 of Pixar's best!
pritol12 September 2021
Such a wonderful return for Carl and Dug, 2 of the wonderful characters from Pixar's Up.
All these episodes are very brief at between 5-10mins in actual run time, but they still manage to capture all of the magic from their original animated feature.
Carl is a little older and a bit less cranky, Dug is still, well...Dug, and he does in one episode finally come face to face with his nemesis...the squirrel!
These are charming and heart warming little episodes, and it's lovely to see where Carl and Dug end up.

We discovered these adorable shorts purely by accident yesterday. I was unaware Ed Asner had passed away, but that doesn't influence my opinion of how absolutely lovely these brief episodes are. It's unfortunate that there's only 5 episodes, since during these dark days of Covid, the light hearted plots offered by these episodes are just what the doctor ordered. DUG is the witless star of these episodes, and he is a hoot! My husband and I laughed ourselves silly through most of the episodes, but the moments of sweetness really pull on your heart strings as well. The animation is excellent as well. Once again, Pixar delivers quality over quantity.
A Delightful Mini Series

Brief shorts about Doug's life with Carl after the events of Up.
I love this accurate depiction of a dog's life! It is such a charming and fun mini series! (Except for the final episode which strayed a little further from the "slice of life" theme).
The animation is fantastic, the stories are fun, and almost anyone would find enjoyment here.
