Get ready to get very, very paranoid. Just in case you'd begun to regard your laptop or the mobile device on which you're reading these words as a benign device whose primary covert function is the ability to snap quickly to a spreadsheet when the boss walks by, here comes Alex Gibney, on prime Gibney form, to shatter that cozy illusion and make your world feel a lot less safe. His new film "Zero Days" may ostensibly be an investigation of the 2010 malware worm known as Stuxnet, but over its swift-moving 116-minute runtime, Gibney does a much broader and more important job: relating the rather airless, abstract concepts of cyber-terrorism and internet espionage to their real-world consequences. At the start of the film, the pronouncement made by one interviewee that the Stuxnet attack could be likened to Hiroshima in its introduction of an unprecedented new category of weapon that will...

“You’re all hearing this the same way?”
It’s 1973, and the streets of New York are swamped with the morning upchuck of a hungover sexual awakening. Vinyl, brainchild of Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, and Rich Cohen, climbs deep into the world of record production in the skin-submersible of one Richard “Richie” Finestra, protagonist and (briefly) narrator. We meet our hero ripping off his car’s rear-view mirror in his hunt for a surface to snort coke off of, a symbolic destruction of introspection and reflection, and leave him staggering like Frankenstein’s monster from the wreckage of a collapsed building. That collapse sequence is the episode’s flourish and its mission statement, a moment so hugely surreal that it flirts with stupidity. The New York Dolls demolishing a building with the power of rock? How easily could that have gone bad, right?
It doesn’t, though. It’s a searing,...

Cannon. A name that means excellence in cinema history. Ok, maybe excellence isn’t the word. However, when I saw that logo or the Cannon name, I knew that I was at least due for a treat. After seeing Mark Hartley’s excellent documentary, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films, it seems that there has been a spike in interest into the Cannon film history. While there is another documentary that we are waiting to see, one that probably paints the combination of Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus in a more positive light, news has been posted on the site, The Action Elite (boss name, gang), which was pulled from company portion of the Cannon Films website. It looks like this info has been on Cannon’s site since September or November.
Further investigation alludes that this information may have been published last year based off their Cannon’s Facebook.

Just in case you need a refresher: before Fox’s brilliant Deadpool movie officially got the green light, it was languishing in development hell, and would probably never have seen the light of day unless someone took it upon themselves to leak those action-packed, hilarious few minutes of test footage online.
When the studio saw the incredibly positive reaction from fans, they realized they had a potential cash cow on their hands and decided to move forward with the project. It was great news for Ryan Reynolds, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, director Tim Miller and ultimately everyone else – but the question remains, who leaked the footage in the first place?
THR thinks they know, and earlier today published a report on the matter:
I am now prepared to say with near (but not total) certainty that it was either the film’s director, Tim Miller, or someone close to him.

Just in case you haven.t been paying attention, Deadpool took over the damn world this past weekend, raking in $150 million over the four-day holiday, smashing records in violent, profane fashion. The titular character may be prone to decapitating people, the crudest possible humor you can imagine, and generally walking a fine line between hero and murderer, but the actor who plays him, Ryan Reynolds, is a pretty solid dude, and hooked up a sick you Deadpool fan with one hell of a surprise. Connor McGrath is a young Canadian Deadpool fanatic who also happens to be battling High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Thanks to Ryan Reynolds, he was also the first person outside of the studios and those involved with production to see Deadpool. Writing on his Facebook page, Reynolds revealed that six weeks ago he visited Connor in Alberta, Edmonton and showed him the movie. Connor is, at least...

You remember Voltron, right? Just in case you're not quite as ancient as I am, it was a cartoon about a bunch of astronauts flying around in color-coded space-lions, who then combined to form one giant robot named Voltron. And yes, it was just as awesome as it sounds. Now Netflix have teamed up with Dreamworks Animation for a brand new animated series titled Voltron: Legendary Defender, and we have your first glimpse below. No official release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted. Are you looking forward to a new Voltron series?...

Depending on your age, you may be interested to know that Feb. 6 marks the 50th birthday of either pop singer Rick Astley - or as you may better know him - the British guy from that video prank meme. The two are one in the same, of course, but as a result of a strange (and apparently deathless) Internet joke, Astley boasts two very different fan bases: The people who bought his records starting in the late '80s and the people who encountered him after being tricked into clicking on the video for his 1987 hit, "Never Gonna Give You Up.

Kevin Spacey has played a wide range of roles in his time as a star of movies and television. From slimy senator to suspicious hood, from police negotiator to legendary crooner, he's made us laugh, cry, and wish we were never born. Yet his latest role in the film Nine Lives is something you have to see for yourself in order to truly believe it. Check it out below, and try to keep an open mind. Just in case you're still a little shell shocked, this is a real trailer. Famed film company EuropaCorp, the folks behind such hit film franchises as The Transporter and Taken, released this trailer yesterday, and it's a real head-scratcher. Nine Lives is the type of story that films like Big, Vice Versa, and Freaky Friday have used to mill comedy gold for decades, as it tells the story of billionaire Tom Brand, and his...

Just in case you didn’t get enough hatefulness from these eight characters during the three hours and seven minutes they were on screen, Neca has revealed their line of Hateful Eight retro clothed action figures. Each figure stands 8 inches, is fully articulated, comes with character specific accessories, and is inspired by the cool toy lines from the 1970s. Neca is promising to do only one production run of 3000 each, so if you want one, you’d better jump on them fast. I’ve included more information from the manufacturer and photos below. Be super sure to check out the disclaimer at the bottom, because it’s my favorite part.
The figures run from $34.99 to $44.99, and you can pre-order six of the eight right here. (I don't know why the other two aren't available. Perhaps they hit their pre-order quota.)
For Quentin Tarantino’s eighth movie, we have a special treat for fans!

Disney don’t spend $4 billion on a franchise just to make a couple of films and then let it stagnate. Just in case you needed some clarification on that matter, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently talked with Newsbeat about the future of the franchise after Episodes VIII, IX and all those little spinoffs in the pipeline like Rogue One and Han Solo.
“There will be more after that, I don’t know how many, I don’t know how often.”
No doi. Yet somehow this news story is playing out across the wire as some massive shock; it’s like people have just heard that Dyson are going to keep making vacuum cleaners and losing their minds about it.
Regardless, hopefully Disney will show some semblance of restraint – one Star Wars film every year for a decade could make the brand get real stale, real fast for anyone other than diehard fans.

Just in case you were concerned about the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, allow Disney chairman Bob Iger to console you: there will be no end to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ever. "Marvel, you're dealing with thousands and thousands of characters - that will go on forever," Iger told BBC Newsbeat in an interview. He also said he doesn't think audiences are growing "weary" of the films, because: "I think we keep raising the bar in terms of telling stories that bring them back, that excite them, that make it feel new and that is what we do for a living," he said. McU entries currently slated for release include Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War - Pts. 1 and 2, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Inhumans and yet another Spider-Man movie. And that's just the films!

Full disclosure: I walked out of this movie after watching only 30 minutes of it. This is kind of a first impression review, an explanation of why I walked out, and a brief rant on Sundance selecting and showing shitty movies like this.
Before I begin, you need to know that I love horror movies and I thoroughly enjoy strange and insane off-beat kind of films. This movie could be described that way, but it was completely unwatchable in every way.
This movie was a waste of time and money. I can't tell you if it was a waste of talent or not, because from what I saw there was no talent involved with the creation of this...film? I don't even want to call it a film. This was just utter crap.

After all, a name as unique as Rainbow Aurora must be followed up with something as, if not more, creative. So we rounded up a list of potential baby names for the expectant mom to consider.

We haven’t seen a Chronicles of Narnia film since The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010. After that, I pretty much gave up on the franchise and thought it was dead, which is sad because I absolutely love these stories. Just in case you're wondering when The Walking Dead series on AMC is going to come to an end, it seems like there's no end in sight at the moment. This thing could potentially go on forever, as long as there's an audience.
During an interview with Vulture, president of original programming and development at AMC, Joel Stillerman, and president of the network, Charlie Collier, talked about the series and made statements about the show's seemingly never-ending future. Stillerman said:
"The answer to how long the show will go on in some way is directly correlated with the health of the storytelling in the comics. Those comics are firing on all cylinders. [Robert Kirkman] still writes every line of dialogue in those books, and is as engaged as he was when I think he was sitting around in Kentucky writing the first issue. That is very much part of the DNA of the show.

Just in case you were wondering… Yes, Michael Bay is directing Transformers 5. It’s been rumored in the past, but nothing has really been made official until now. While talking to Rolling Stone about his upcoming action thriller 13 Hours, Bay confirms that he’ll step back into the directing chair.
Bay has been involved with a lot of films, and he’s currently in post-production on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as a producer. While talking to the magazine, he said:
“‘I’m doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" Bay says, temporarily losing track. He shakes his head. ‘I’ve taken on a lot of work.’”
The last time he talked about it, he wasn’t committed. I never had any doubt that Bay would come back to direct Transformers 5. I really wish he’d pass it off to someone else. I like it when he makes other movies outside of the franchise.

Reality takes a holiday along with the Star Wars cast. But is the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special that bad?
You know what go well together? Pop sci-fi, variety shows and Christmas.
Wait, no they don’t, that’s a terrible idea. The Christmas variety show is fine, but attaching a famously secular fantasy to it? Really? Still, this was the late 70s, where variety shows were the king of Christmas telly, and Star Wars was the king of everything else. So obviously some genius decided to put the two things together. The result? Something so bad that it was never shown again. Carrie Fisher reportedly uses it to get people to leave her house. George Lucas actually threatened to go on a rampage with a sledgehammer. Words have not been invented to describe how bad it is.

Everybody is talking about Steve Harvey's Sunday night blunder. Even Magic Johnson, for some reason.
Just in case you weren't watching last night's Miss Universe pageant (what's wrong with you?!?) or have managed to stay off the Internet in the 12 hours since the competition concluded, let us bring you up to speed. On Sunday, Harvey – who hosted Miss Universe 2015 – had a cringe-inducing live TV moment for the ages, when he crowned Miss Colombia as the winner…when she was actually the first runner-up.

Just in case you haven’t had enough of Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet, Disney has released several new clips and featurettes on the eve of the film’s release. There may not be much in the way of new footage here, but with the film now in theatres worldwide, there really isn’t any need to show off anymore of it.
I mean, this past week has been absolutely nuts in terms of Star Wars coverage, and with projections placing the North American box office haul north of $200 million this weekend, not to mention the $14 million it made overseas the other day, it doesn’t seem like there’s anyone left who won’t be seeing The Force Awakens over the next few days.

Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba! Yii-hah! Warner Bros. is reportedly developing an animated feature film based on the classic Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales. The news comes from The Tracking Board, who says that the film will be a contemporary adaptation of the cartoon character.
Speedy Gonzales was created by Friz Freieng and Hawley Pratt, and the character first appeared in the 1953 short "Speedy Gonzales." Over the years he appeared in 46 Warner Bros. cartoons. Just in case you’ve never heard of the character before, Speedy is a Mexican mouse who is super crazy fast. He’s known for wearing a yellow over-sized Charro, white shirt and trousers, and a bright-red kerchief. He often took on Sylvester the cat — who Speedy always manages to outsmart and outrun.
Several years ago, New Line Cinema was trying to get a movie off the ground with comedian/actor George Lopez as the voice of the title character.

Ed Sheeran is ceasing all electronic communication, at least for now. The British singer-songwriter announced Sunday on Facebook and Instagram that he plans to go underground for a while. Just in case anyone missed it, he also tweeted a link to the statement to his 16 million Twitter followers. “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while,”Sheeran wrote. “I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so i’m taking this opportunity of me not having.

The air around you is thick with radio waves.
Most of them herald nothing more exciting than some idiotic DJ trying to wring an interview out of a sleep-deprived celeb, but some of them are different.
Some of them offer a glimpse into an underground world that we have no idea about and some of them are just the stuff of nightmares.
As well as mysterious radio stations broadcasting incomprehensible messages to unknown recipients, there are also a wide range of peculiar, puzzling and downright bizarre snippets out there.
From television hijacks to secret codes to whispers from the past in age-old forgotten recordings, who knew that just a few audio snippets could be so creepy?
Pro-tip: Maybe turn the lights on before proceeding. You know. Just in case.

A fifth Rambo movie has been in the works for years, with different iterations of the film cropping up every year or so. At one point, it would have been titled Rambo: Savage Hunt, and would’ve seen Sylvester Stallone‘s rogue soldier battling a genetically engineered monster. And then it became Rambo: Last Stand, an Unforgiven-esque tale that would’ve supposedly seen […]

The spot puts the focus on the villain Kylo Ren, and it's stuffed to capacity with exciting action-packed new footage! I know a lot of people are trying to stay away from watching any more trailers for this movie, if you are one of them, you might still want to watch this one because it's pretty badass.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be in movie theaters on December 18th, 2015.

Just in case you somehow missed it, the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War debuted last night and received a rather glowing reception. Despite concerns that Civil War would turn into Avengers 2.5, last night's trailer felt very much like a Captain America film, albeit jammed full of additional heroes. After helming the excellent Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Russo brothers... Read More...

To paraphrase The X-Files‘ Mulder from the Season 2 episode “Duane Barry,” I know you’re scared, X-Philes, and that you’d like to see this all come out right.
After all, Fox’s revival of the alien-obsessed series is a William-magnitude blessing that has the possibility of becoming a black oil-esque curse: What if it’s just not as good as we want it to be?
After a few screenings earlier in the year, the network has released the premiere episode to the media. I’ve seen it. And rather than print up a special edition of The Lone Gunman,...

Humans have looked up at the night sky since the very beginning, and with good reason… it’s awesome!
The night sky is full of wonders – there are stars, planets and even entire galaxies just waiting to be seen. No fancy equipment is needed to witness the beauty on offer. In fact, there is something special about the simplicity of observing the stars unaided much like our ancestors would have done all those years ago. Having said that using an application on your phone to help find your way around the sky can be very handy!
This list is intended to be for those in the northern hemisphere, but that doesn’t mean some of the objects included can’t be seen elsewhere.
To get started just find somewhere dark; the further away any lights are the better. Then let your eyes adjust to the darkness for about 30 minutes.

Just in case you didn't know yet, Erica Kravid is evil. Like, really evil. This week, everyone really wants to remind you that Erica is the worst of all, like a corporate Disney villain brought to life, the Maleficent of Silicon Valley. (Okay, fine. The Maleficient of Midian, Colorado.) Perhaps you didn’t catch the oh-so-subtle metaphor of her unexpectedly shooting a symbolically peaceful animal — a stag, often a stand-in for Jesus Christ himself — hacking through its corpse with a knife, and then eating it for dinner?Yet, in this penultimate episode of ours, no one is telling us why or how. How did she found/come to run Renautas? Why does she exhibit zero hang-ups about committing genocide? And how in God's name is she, a nearly translucent, pointy-featured evil stepmother of a woman, supposed to be mother to dark-haired, dark-eyed, olive-skinned Taylor? Were she a man, I suppose...

Thanks to EW we have a ton of new information regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Some of this info might be considered Spoilers, so you might want to tread lightly. My outlook on it is if Lucasfilm allowed it to be released then it’s official information.
There was a decent amount of Star Wars news that was released yesterday. Just in case you missed out on any of that, click here. Below you will find some intriguing points of interest regarding certain characters and story points thanks to the cast and crew who worked on making the highly anticipated film.
Two things that were mentioned that I wanted to highlight are that Princess Leia is no longer referred to as a Princess. She's now General Leia. Then there's The First Order, who teach soldiers raised from childhood that Luke Skywalker is a villain. You can read all...

This week on "The Walking Dead," we learned something revolutionary about the people of Alexandria: They have no idea how to survive in the zombie apocalypse!
Lol, just kidding -- we've known that literally the entire time. But for some reason, the show decided to drive that point home once again during tonight's episode, "Now," as if this was a brand new revelation. Get a load of this: These people have lived a coddled, sheltered life, have no idea how to fight zombies, and are suspicious of Rick and his gang! I mean, color me shocked.
Excuse the sarcasm, but, c'mon, "Twd." This episode was bursting with a-ha! moments that turned out to be anything but, framing big character developments (Spencer, who started out as an a-hole, is still an a-hole! Jessie, who started out as a wuss, is still kinda a wuss! Carl, who started out as the worst,...

Just in case you're still crying over the fact that Urban Decay's "Naked Vault Volume II" sold out online in a matter of minutes, there's a new Urban eyeshadow palette that will tide you over: the brand's collaboration with Gwen Stefani, a veritable makeup maven. In fact, the eye kit is comprised of only colors Stefani would wear. "Everything in here [...]...
