Violence & Gore
-
- A man threatens children several times. Not graphic but it isn't meant playfully
- The people talk about sea monsters being killed, and Giulia's dad says that he kills "anything that swims" but this is not shown.
- Three guys keep messing with the two main characters. And in another scene, one of them punches another character in the stomach.
- A man is seen chopping fish, blood is seen on the Knife, and the inside of the fish is seen, not too graphic
- Luca punches his uncle Ugo's heart, when he loses his air, and it is a bit creepy, considering he is a see-through fish.
- Many close death experiences with a harpoon.
Profanity
-
- 2 Words Use Of "Shut up"
- As Ercole first comes into town, a police officer says "mannaggia! Here we go again"."mannaggia" means "damn"
- Ercole does call Luca, Alberto and Giulia: "losers." He continues to insult them, throughout the movie
- Language is largely of the insult variety: "stinking", "stupido", "jerk", idioti", "trash", "shut up", "what's wrong with you" and "bottom feeder", as well as swearing stand-in "aw, sharks." which is very sound of the S-word.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- There are no alcohol, or drug references.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Some emotional scenes between the main characters
- The camera focuses on Uncle Ugo, a fish who's skin is see-through. His heart and intestines are visible for about 5 seconds. He also talks about eating whale carcass.
- One of the characters was born without an arm.
- Depictions of bullying that includes pushing, shoving and comic hitting.
- In a heated fallout, Alberto reveals himself as a sea monster, and Luca then shouts "SEA MONSTER!", which gives Alberto a very sad look. This can hit hard for many audiences.
- (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
