Morgan Freeman did not reach the heights in Hollywood by always playing Mr. Nice Guy. His ruthless decision to fire a famous rapper from one of his movies shows the actor’s commitment to his craft. In 2013, Freeman joined forces with Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, and Kevin Kline to star in the comedy film Last Vegas. The film was supposed to have rapper T.I. in a supporting role in the film.

However, during the table read of the movie, the rapper’s unprofessional behavior greatly disappointed the veteran actor. The Shawshank Redemption actor let him know the next day that he was out of the ensemble cast of the film.

In terms of new original content coming to Hulu, March is a slight month, with the streamer’s highlight being the limited series premiere of We Were the Lucky Ones at the end of the month. The show, which is based on Georgia Hunter’s New York Times bestselling novel, is inspired by the true story of a Jewish family who are separated at the start of WWII, and who then have to survive in order to eventually reunite. We Were the Lucky Ones stars Joey King from The Kissing Booth films alongside Percy Jackson‘s Logan Lerman, and debuts on March 28.

Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.

Not only are there few franchises bigger in the history of popular cinema than "Fast & Furious," but the so-called Fast Saga may also be the most unlikely multi-billion-dollar enterprise that Hollywood has ever created. A series of movies about street racing and (relatively) petty crime miraculously morphed into a grand, globe-trotting saga boasting an A-list ensemble cast of talent. For years, the tip of that pyramid was doubly headed up by Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto and Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor, dating back to 2001's "The Fast and the Furious."
Sadly, Walker passed away during the production of 2015's "Furious 7," marking the end of an incredibly promising career far too soon. But the saying "the show must go on" certainly applied here, with Dom and the gang soldiering on without Walker's Brian O'Connor in the years since the actor's tragic death. Brian is very much alive in...

Hulu’s list of new releases for March 2023 features an event long in the making.
On March 6, History of the World, Part II will finally arrive more than 40 years after Mel Brooks’ classic comedy History of the World, Part I. first premiered. Of course, Brooks never had any intention of adding future parts to his ahistorical film, but that yet makes the arrival of Part II so many years later even funnier. Described as a four-night comedy event, History of the World, Part II will release two episodes a day through March 9. Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

It’s ironic but unavoidable that the greatest annual celebration of film should be a television special — but that’s just how it is. March often means Oscar season, a time for cinephiles to boot up that small screen you use for movies and use it to see if they win any awards during a telecast.
If you don’t have TV service anymore, Hulu has you covered with a pre-Oscars telecast as well as two red carpet specials before and after the main event. Though the ceremony itself won’t be livestreamed on Hulu, it will be added the next morning, like regular ABC programming. Awards viewership has been in general decline over the past several years, but next-day streaming gives curious viewers a chance to join the conversation and boost those Oscar ratings after the live show. It’s also a chance for superfans to pause and rewind...

If you want to watch a great heist movie, go watch Michael Mann’s Heat from 1995. This classic crime drama is the gold standard for that genre and served as a big inspiration for many films like it. Movies like Den of Thieves, Takers, or even a more unexpected example, The Dark Knight. You may not have realized it when you watched it, but if you rewatch The Dark Knight, you’ll see the elements of Heat throughout basically the whole movie. From the opening heist scene, to the thrilling car chase scene, Christopher Nolan picked a good source for inspiration.

Though the confusingly named initiative “FX on Hulu” is on its way out, FX is still bringing premium television to Hulu in the meantime.
Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. This adaptation of the non-fiction book by John Krakauer stars Andrew Garfield as a Mormon police detective whose faith is shaken when investigating a murder involving the church.
It’s not all just FX on the TV side of things for Hulu this month, however. The streamer is debuting second seasons of its series The Hardy Boys (April 6) and Woke (April 8). There isn’t much to report from Hulu’s original movies arm aside from true crime documentary Captive Audience on April 21. But that doc about one family’s 50-year journey for justice sounds like a must-watch.

Hayden Christensen is one of those Star Wars actors who never really moved on from that franchise. What else has he done after Revenge of the Sith? The only thing I can think of is Takers from 2010, which he was pretty good in. As far as I know, he has done several independent projects and some direct-to-video movies, and the very few I have seen weren’t that good. But if we’re being honest here, I do think that the majority Star Wars fanbase was pretty hard on Hayden Christensen for his performance as Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy.

Look, not every month is gonna be full of bangers. Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for March 2022 is extremely light but still has a couple of good options for streaming obsessives.
The biggest title this month is undoubtedly The Boys Presents: Diabolical on March 4. This series presents eight different stories set in The Boys‘ universe, all offered up by different writers. Since each of the eight mini-episodes are animated, it’s probably fair to say this is The Boys‘ Animatrix. Call it the “Anivought”.

Will Packer has been named Producer of the 94th Annual Academy Awards, set for March 27.
This will be the first Oscar show to be produced by Packer, a prolific producer of numerous films and TV projects including Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along, Girls Trip, the Think Like a Man films and the television remake of Roots, for which he received an Emmy nomination. But his credits do not include a lot of live TV projects, so taking on the Oscars will be a relatively new experience. His wide-ranging credits in comedy give hope that he also will be creating a fun Academy Awards.
The Academy clearly is looking for fresh ideas and new directions after the pandemic-affected, critically derided and record-low-rated 2021 telecast produced by the trio of Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher and Jesse Collins. When Bosch first premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2014, the streaming world was in a very different place. Netflix had only House of Cards and Orange is the New Black under its belt. Hulu was still a joint venture owned by multiple conglomerates. Disney+, HBO Max, and Peacock didn’t even exist. Now, in June 2021, Amazon Prime’s list of new releases is highlighted by one last outing for LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.
Bosch season 7 premieres on June 25. This will be the last batch of episodes for the series, before a spinoff gets rolling for IMDb TV. Oprah Winfrey’s explosive interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drew a huge audience to CBS this Sunday evening, attracting approximately 17.18 million viewers throughout its two-hour broadcast and a 1.45 rating in the adults, aged 18-49 key demographic.
Compared with last Sunday night’s 78th Golden Globe Awards, which garnered a bleak 6.9 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among the key demo, TV watchers showed up in droves for (technically) ex-British royalty over Hollywood royalty. The sit-down in an estate’s green and flourishing patio, was anything but casual as Oprah showcased the strongest aspects of her journalistic chops and grilled the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a slew of follow-up questions that led to surprising revelations of what went down behind the scenes in the palace’s walls, per the couple. This was CBS’s most live-streamed event outside of the NFL and Super Bowl Sunday this 2020-2021 season.
Compared with last Sunday night’s 78th Golden Globe Awards, which garnered a bleak 6.9 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among the key demo, TV watchers showed up in droves for (technically) ex-British royalty over Hollywood royalty. Amazon Prime’s new releases in June 2020 is fairly lacking in original material. That’s to be expected for a streaming service that focuses on quality over quantity to begin with now going through a pandemic content crunch.
Standup special Gina Brillon: The Floor Is Lava, Joseph Gordon-Levitt film 7500, and Pete the Cat season 2 are the only originals arriving this month. And that’s fine as Amazon is about to be home to one of 2019’s most fun films. That’s right – Knives Out makes its debut on June 12. It might be awhile before we get to see the next Benoit Blanc mystery so hopefully this will tide us over.
June 1 also sees the arrival of Dirty Dancing, Kingpin, and the tragically underrated Sex Drive. It’s not the most impressive month Amazon has ever had, but at least you still get free shipping.

The Magicians turns in a messy but fun episode that drops a few compelling bombshells during a more chaotic than usual narrative.

This The Magicians review contains spoilers.
The Magicians Season 5 Episode 4
The Magicians doesn’t do anything halfway, but unfortunately that principle also applies to its missteps, of which “Magicians Anonymous” is one. Where the series is usually able to weave together disparate storylines to create a cohesive thematic tapestry, this episode felt oddly disjointed. It was almost as if the narrative itself was akin to the brown bunny in the Etheric Realm, jumping from story to story with dizzying disorientation while admittedly charming us along the way. The installment was redeemed somewhat by significant insights into the apocalypse problem, Penny’s mysterious signal, and the troubles in Fillory, but fans are used to cleaner storytelling in this show.

Did he send the letter?
That has got to be the question on fans' minds after The Magicians Season 5 Episode 2: Did Eliot send Quentin that letter?
It's such a cruel cliffhanger to end on, but it sure has the added bonus of ensuring viewers will tune in for the next episode.
Margo may have been focused on trying to save Josh, Fen, and her kingdom, but Eliot's drive to go back in time had more to do with his desire to save Quentin.
Quentin is a man Eliot loved but never got to tell; he never even got the chance to say good-bye. If you had the opportunity to go back and saved a loved one, wouldn't you?
Eliot: So what do you say? Wanna go back in time, save my friends, and unfuck history for old time’s sack?
Jane: If I change anything, it could undo every...

Exclusive: Universal Pictures has just closed a deal to acquire Beast, an action-thriller for Will Packer to produce. The logline is being kept under wraps, but the film will show what happens when man is forced to go head-to-head with a beast. The pitch comes from Jamie Primak-Sullivan, and it will be scripted by Ryan Engle. They served the same roles in the Packer-produced Breaking In, and Engle separately scripted Rampage. Packer will produce through his Will Packer Productions banner alongside partner James Lopez and Primak-Sullivan will executive produce. Engel is repped by CAA and Mosaic.

Savant’s vote for the best romantic comedy ever goes to a sordid fable about problems in the big city Rat Race: keeping both a job and one’s self-respect. Picking up where 1930s pre-Code movies left off, Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond’s ‘how to succeed’ thesis divides people into two groups, Takers and those that Get Took. And yet the message it delivers is life & love- affirming.

Created and written by our columnist John Ostrander in concert with his DC Comics editor Robert Greenberger, Suicide Squad has quickly proven to be a worldwide smash hit. Much like they did with Batman v. Superman, Warner Bros. is releasing an extended cut of Suicide Squad when it lands on blu-ray. Today, they've announced the details of the upcoming release, the special features, and debuted a trailer showing some of that promised new footage. Come inside to learn more!
Well this is interesting, if not wholly expected. It seems that WB is keen to keep releasing Extended Edition versions of their DC comic book films. While that sounds like I'm being negative, I'm more flabbergasted than anything. The extended version of Batman v. Superman that hit just a bit ago is by far the better version of the film. When Suicide Squad was initially released, much was made of how muuch footage was obviously cut and how much the reshoots changed things up.

WaterTower Music has released a first track from the score to director David Ayer’s highly anticipated Suicide Squad, featuring the music of Academy Award-Winning composer Steven Price.
Price was tasked with navigating musically the colorful storyline of an assembled team of the world’s most dangerous Super-Villains and the emotional highs and lows they experience on an impossible mission.
“David’s film invited me to find a way to bring all of these incredible misfit outsiders together as a united force, with a thematic score that goes from moments of quiet emotion to huge action sequences,” explains Price. “The character’s themes interact and develop as the film progresses, and we witness the birth of the Suicide Squad. Jumping from obscurity to overnight household name following his casting, the young actor struggled with the character and dialogue of the 'Wars' prequels more so than the rest of the more experienced talent around him. Though having proven himself as an actor in the likes of "Life as a House," "The Virgin Suicides" and "Shattered Glass," the actor has revealed to Yahoo that he never got over the sudden thrust to fame that being in "Star Wars" brought him:
"I felt like I had this great thing in Star Wars that provided all these opportunities and gave me a career, but it all kind of felt a little too handed to me. I didn't...
