Did you know
- TriviaThe piece of music the little girl plays on the piano in the Officer's Club is Mozart's "Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major"
- GoofsHawkeye steals Frank's Purple Heart to give to a baby. However, whether or not a soldier possesses the physical medal, they are officially on record as a recipient and can obtain a replacement. Also, BJ claims "They're staying up nights making Purple Hearts" when comforting Frank, but this was not true. The US military ordered 500,000 of them made in anticipation of the invasion of Japan, which never happened since the atomic bombs were dropped instead. This supply of Purple Hearts has not been used up as of 2015.
BJ saying "They're staying up nights making Purple Hearts" is a jab at the fact that there are plenty to go around and the powers that be supply plenty of war where the medals are given. It's not meant to be a reflection of factual accuracy. While the information given is interesting, it's not a mistake. Additionally, BJ tells him he can get another one, which is entirely true.
- Quotes
Col. Sherman T. Potter: [reading from an Army manual, to three visiting Korean orphans] You sure you want more of this story? You really don't understand. You want more?
[the children show their full attention]
Col. Sherman T. Potter: You do want more. Okay. Here we go.
[In a singsong, storyteller voice]
Col. Sherman T. Potter: "Field stripping, cleaning and routine maintenance of Garand rifles, Section 22! Repeated disassembly and assembly causes excessive wear of parts and will eventually reduce the accuracy of the weapon. See Figure 57." Oh! Pictures and everything.
[shows the pictures]
Col. Sherman T. Potter: "To disassemble piece into above groups place butt against left thigh, sights to the left. With thumb and forefinger of right hand, pull downward and outward on rear of trigger guard. Swing trigger guard out as far as it will go and remove trigger housing assembly."
[the children have fallen asleep. He tucks them in]
Col. Sherman T. Potter: And so they lived happily ever after.

Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Played on piano by Korean girl
The kids and Nurse Crady obtained a checkup at the 4077th after reaching the camp. The slick kid (played by Mitch Sakamoto) did everything possible to make Major Burns's life quite difficult -- by taking 50 cents from him -- despite the fact they were struggling to survive in Korea. Colonel Potter did a fine job reading Army books to the kids at the camp during the night. Corporals O'Reilly and Klinger found the wounded pregnant woman inside the camp at the end of the first part of the show.
Captain Hunnicut operated on the wounded woman in surgery; then went after the baby. Colonel Potter scolded Major Burns for not helping out in surgery. First Lieutenant Mulcahy took Major Burns to the Pre-Operating Room for surgery to assist with the likes of Major Houlihan, Nurse Kellye, Captain Pierce, and the other assistants in surgery. The baby became born in the hospital. The mother and the baby recovered quite well after surgery. The baby received the Purple Heart from President Truman. The Final Grade: "B!!" Enjoy
