U.K.-based, French-owned production label Pathe Pictures said Wednesday that it is tackling an unnamed soccer project to be directed by British veteran Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough). Pathe has teamed with Brit production label Reason Pictures on the project, which is being produced by Eileen Gregory (Rolling Stones: Tip of the Tongue). The film will have six intertwining stories that examine the social impact of soccer across the world. The Michael Apted football project is in production and already has shot in South Africa, Iran and the U.S. The movie also is due to shoot in the U.K., Argentina and Senegal before concluding in Germany during World Cup 2006.
