Last week a rumor was started saying that Warner Bros. had canceled David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens. It was reported that the movie was being replaced by the Joker and Harley Quinn movie that movie is being directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (This is Us, Crazy Stupid Love).
For those of you who were looking forward to seeing Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn you'll be happy to hear that the movie has not been canceled. Gotham City Sirens is apparently still in development!
The news comes from an insider that talked to Forbes saying, “Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy are super important to us-- And a super cool team, too!”
I guess those reports of the film being canceled were exaggerated. I'm actually really glad to hear the film project is still a go. I'm a big fan of these characters and I'm looking forward to...

Actress Margot Robbie, aka 'Harley Quinn' in "Suicide Squad", has signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. to produce new films including the developing feature, "The Joker and Harley Quinn", (aka "Mad Love"?) co-starring Jared Leto:
'Harleen Frances Quinzel' aka 'Harley Quinn' was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, debuting in "Batman: The Animated Series" (1992).
The character later appeared in DC Comics' "Batman" comic books, debuting in "The Batman Adventures" #12 (1993)
"...in 'Suicide Squad', flashbacks reveal that psychiatrist 'Dr. Harleen Quinzel' fell in love with the psychopathic supervillain 'Joker', during his time as her patient at 'Arkham Asylum'.
"Joker manages to convince Dr. Quinzel to free him, and after his men take over the asylum, he gives her electroshock therapy.
"Quinzel then willingly jumps into chemicals that created Joker, at the 'Ace Chemicals' plant, bleaching her skin and completing her transformation into 'Harley Quinn'.

We're celebrating Charlize Theron before Atomic Blonde opens this week! Here's Chris Feil's weekly series on music in the movies...
Young Adult begins with a near ten minute stretch of almost silence before its recurring song choice bursts in and becomes one of the film’s most illuminating crutches of its antihero Mavis Gary, played with utter genius by Charlize Theron.
At the news that her high school sweetheart Buddy is a new father, Mavis departs her depressing life on a cringe-inducing quest to win him back, armed with tunes from their love that she keeps in a memory box in her closet. The keepsake mixtape “Mad Love, Buddy” begins with “The Concept” by Teenage Fanclub, quite the apropos band name for Mavis’s frozen disposition. After several instant rewinds it becomes clear this isn’t just a favorite road trip singalong, but the one she remembers Buddy by. Their song.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are two of the biggest pop stars (and, equally important, cat lovers) in the world, which means a lot of people have a lot of thoughts on their lives. A popular fan theory is that the two have been embroiled in a long-running feud, but most of the supposed drama has really played out through elusive quotes in magazine profiles and subtweets that don’t really say anything at all – until now.
In October, both Perry and Swift attended Drake’s birthday party, with no drama to report. Yet a few days later at a Kanye West concert,...

Great to have you in Nashville this week, love your work, happy to see you directing Scarlett and Gunnar’s new video. One thing: Rayna and I were talking, and I just wanted to touch base about a couple of line items in this bill your people submitted to Highway 65 for The Exes music video.
While I’m sure that “man-bun specialist” and “smeared lipstick remover” are perfectly respectful jobs, some of these peoples’ rates are a bit higher than what we’re comfortable with.

For most people, Joker and Harley Quinn are synonymous with each other. Ever since the latter debuted a quarter century ago on Batman: The Animated Series, the “Mad Love” they’ve shared has become the stuff of legend and has since carried over into live action cinema thanks to Suicide Squad.
But those who haven’t been keeping up with the comics may not be aware of the fact that they parted ways very early on in the New 52, with last year’s violent encounter in Arkham Asylum that saw Harley emerging as the victor serving as icing on the cake.

JoJo has had a comeback for the pop-ages with her new album Mad Love, and it’s centered around ignoring haters and doing your own thing. When you’re in her position, it’s kind of the only choice. All odds were against the singer after ten years since her last record, but Mad Love is excellent journey down the road of redemption. One of the album’s strongest tracks, “Fab.,” now has a music video, and it’s got that sassy flair that JoJo’s basically patented.
Entirely in black and white (which seems to be the “in” thing now, apparently), JoJo sings the song with purpose in the simplistic clip. Remy Ma, who features on the track, also makes an appearance in the video, and the combo of the two goes down as one of the most enjoyable pop collaborations of the year.

Save for appearances in movies like Rv (with Robin Williams) and G.B.F., the young starlet seemed to have disappeared from the public eye as she and her legal team fought to reinstate her artistic freedom, which culminated last week when JoJo, now 25, finally released Mad Love, her first full-length album in a decade,...

A new JoJo album is only a few weeks away, and while it’s still weird to even think that it’s actually happening, we’re too busy listening to the songs to really care. Following up the release of the singles “F– Apologies” and “Mad Love,” the next track to debut from Mad Love is the fiery Remy Ma collaboration, “Fab.”
“Fab.,” which stands for “fake a– b–tches,” sports a style that goes well with the song’s lyrical content. Though the instrumentation is basic, JoJo’s verses have a killer instinct flair to them as she sings her ode to haters with clever lines like, “Honey, you don’t want my problems / If you had’em, you would sink to the bottom.” Meanwhile, Remy Ma’s guest spot takes no prisoners, and is easily the strongest part of the song. Speaking with The Fader, JoJo says that...

JoJo’s been back with a force ever since announcing her new album, Mad Love, which will be released via Atlantic Records on October 14th. We’ve already heard the record’s lead single and Wiz Khalifa collaboration, “F–k Apologies,” but JoJo is giving us all a little more of a taste of what’s to come with the title track, “Mad Love.”
While “F–k Apologies” took more an upbeat direction that we’ve been used to hearing from JoJo over the past ten years, “Mad Love” takes the concept of genre expectations and flips it on its head. “Mad Love” is mid-tempo, dreamy, and unlike anything she’s done before, but it may just be one of her most personal songs yet. In an interview with Vogue, JoJo said that “Mad Love” was the product of a broken relationship that she couldn’t let go of. That...

The battle lines are drawn each time a leaked picture hits the web. The tattooed Joker. The dark-costumed Superman. The old-school-but-with-new-web-shooters Spider-Man. The Flash — the TV one or the movie one? Aquaman, a.k.a. the WWE’s Roman Reigns. Starlord by way of Han Solo. And whatever the hell Lex Luthor was doing with wardrobe from the porn parody of The Social Network. It sets the nerds on fire in heated debates and discussions. At their core, no true fan of a character can draw peaceful breath while their favorite character is reinterpreted by Hollywood costumers and art directors who totally do not even know what comics are!
And then the stories themselves! What good is Batman v. Superman when it seems like the writer’s room and director are hell-bent on cramming eight major stories into a single bloated cry-fest? Or what of Marvel basically rewriting the same script over and over,...

JoJo is free from the clutches of her old record label, and that means she’s finally able to talk about what she has wanted to talk about all along: new music.
After leaving her previous label, Blackground Records, in 2014, the singer says she called up her mom and cried. “I called my mom and we cried,” JoJo tells Billboard. “I felt relief from the literal release. And then I had a bottle of champagne with my girlfriends!”
The pop singer is ready to unveil her new album, Mad Love, on October 14th via Atlantic Records, which comes nearly ten years to the date of her last full-length, The High Road. Released thus far is the lead single, “F– Apologies,” featuring rapper Wiz Khalifa, and it has already reached the Top 40 of Billboard’s Pop Songs chart.

Way back in January of this year, I wrote about my fear and exasperation that Suicide Squad appeared to be using Harley Quinn’s New 52 origin story. Now that I’ve seen the movie, was I right? Has my opinion changed? Kind of. And not really. Warning: Spoilers For Suicide Squad Beyond This Point: We’ve known for a while now that Harley Quinn was going to take a dip in a vat of chemicals in Suicide Squad. It’s in the trailers, and it was accidentally spoiled by Margot Robbie’s stunt double. I was pretty bummed out about this. Harley Quinn’s first origin — Mad Love — positions her as a woman who finds herself slowly trapped in a cycle of domestic abuse. Only amped up to 11 and knob ripped off. She abandons to her profession and her life to follow her lover down a path of destruction. Her...

To start this review off with a little bit of colour (ahem), I was going to add some background info on Batman: Black & White’s history. What it is and how it came to be, that sort of thing. However, I sincerely doubt that there is anyone reading this who doesn’t already know that stuff, so I’ll skip it and get straight to the review. If you are interested in learning more, then have a look Here. I’ll wait…
DC has made a Really strong start with this one. In fact, this debut issue is so cool that I’ve taken to keeping my copy in the freezer (Note: this is not actually true). This first issue of the relaunched B&W is a comic that just oozes quality and charm.

Once upon a time a young man is casually browsing the graphic novel section of his local library, he picks up Hush and as he reads he is taken a back by a bubbly blur of black and red bounding and cartwheeling across the pages. Fast forward almost a decade and that same young man puts down his copy of Detective Comics #23.2 and has to wonder just what is going on.
Let’s reel it in a bit because Harley Quinn #1 isn’t an absolutely abysmal comic but it’s also not a particularly great one either and this reviewer is undecided as to whether this article should list the good points before it launches into the bad, or get the bad out of the way before it tries and salvage some good.
Let’s go with the latter.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one: a clown, a gorilla and an evil aunt walk into a comic…
The end of Scott Snyder’s Death of the Family earlier this year left the question of whether Joker was alive or dead (as if!) open ended, though we’ve not seen him since. Readers of Forever Evil #1 will notice Joker’s conspicuous absence from that series, but this is Villains’ Month so DC pretty much had to do a Joker comic because he is the best, most famous villain they have. So is this a continuation of Death of the Family? Do we find out what Joker’s up to during Forever Evil? No and no. This is a one-shot that has nothing to do with either storyline and takes place before Joker has his face removed in the New 52. Instead Joker #1 (or Batman #23.1) focuses on giving us the origin of Jackanapes,...

Bad news struck for Batman fans last week when Christian Bale officially announced that he will not be appearing as the Dark Knight in the highly anticipated "Justice League" movie, set for a tentative 2015 release date.
However, since 2015 is still quite a ways away, we here at Splash Page thought it best to take a look back on a version of Batman that we all know and love: "Batman: The Animated Series." Sex Mob: Cinema, Circus & Spaghetti: Sex Mob Plays Fellini: The Music of Nino Rota (Royal Potato Family)
Call me crazy, but I feel a connection between Rota's themes for Fellini's films and the melodic styles of Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman. Granted, what each did once past their respective themes became wildly different, with Rota never abandoning harmony, Ornette twisting it in new directions, and Ayler abandoning it altogether, but before that happens, their themes share an effulgent earthiness and overflowing humanity. And who better to bring out the jazz side of that earthy humanity than the great recontextualizer Steve Bernstein and his longstanding quartet with Briggan Krauss (alto and baritone saxes), Tony Scherr (electric bass), and Kenny Wollesen (drums, gongs, log drum, waterphone, vibraphone).

Sarah Wright has made an impression in “The Loop,” “The House Bunny,” “Mad Love” and “Parks and Recreation,” the latter in a small recurring role as Millicent Gergich. In “21 & Over,” a comedy from the writers of “The Hangover” releasing to home video on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack this week, she plays Nicole, a college co-ed who serves as the object of affection for one of a trio of randy partiers. For ShockYa, Brent Simon recently had a chance to chat with Wright one-on-one, about the movie, basketball, whether females really talk about masturbation, and more. Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a professional Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (Mu). But during his first semester at Mu, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot Mu legacy James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.
Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s Monsters University is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and executive produced by John Lasseter.

Liane Balaban made an impression as Dustin Hoffman’s sweetly sad, set-to-wed daughter in “Last Chance Harvey,” and will be recognizable to plenty of folks from her recurring role on the small screen’s “Supernatural.” In her latest film, however, Balaban gets to channel a wild, daffy femininity whose unhinged, slightly damaged siren call will strike a chord of familiarity in many a guy. In the vein of “Mad Love” and “Sweet November,” “Finding Joy” finds disillusioned author Kyle (Josh Cooke) returning home and having to cope with various indignities tossed his way by his estranged father (Barry Bostwick) and new stepmother (Lainie Kazan), when he meets Balaban’s spunky bohemian title character. Among Batman’s illustrious rogues gallery, one villain who has yet to appear in a live action film is the Joker’s girlfriend and sidekick, Harley Quinn. Harley is notable for not originating in the comics but in Batman: The Animated Series. She first appeared in the 1992 episode “Joker’s Favor.”
Her origin story was then told in comic book form in the story Mad Love, written by Paul Dini and drawn by Bruce Timm, two of the animated series’ producers. We learn that Harley was formally a Arkham Asylum psychiatrist named Harleen Quinzel who fell in love with the Joker and eventually became his partner in crime. While some may feel Harley is too goofy a character to work in a serious Batman film I feel see is one of the most psychologically interesting characters in the Batman mythology.

Happy Endings isn’t dead yet. But ABC might as well have dipped it in antelope blood, rolled it around in some truffle salt, and left it in a cage with some very hungry tigers, because tonight, the network will air the season finale — and it might also be the final episode of the show. And that’s sad, because a great sitcom like this one shouldn’t have to endure the indignities that this one has suffered, having already been yanked from the schedule for all of February and much of March, replaced by Celebrity Wife Swap (starring Coolio and Kate Gosselin!

Legendary Spanish-born international film and music icon has died Sara Montiel, also known as either Sarita Montiel or, at times, Saritisima, was one of the Spanish-speaking world's biggest stars. She died on Monday, April 8, apparently of "natural causes" at her house in Madrid's district of Salamanca. She was 85 years old. Earlier today, a cortege driving through the streets of Madrid was attended (and applauded) by thousands of mourning fans. Montiel was born on March 10, 1928; according to online sources, her birth name was María Antonia Alejandra Vicenta Elpidia Isadora Abad Fernández; her father was a small farmer and her mother was beauty products salesperson. She left behind her poverty-stricken childhood, spending her days in the streets of her small village while dreaming of Spanish film star Imperio Argentina, after moving to Madrid in her mid-teens. Diction and singing lessons followed. Eventually, she started appearing in films, landing two roles in 1944 releases:...

It happens all the time. We get attached to a show and for some reason, be it low ratings, high expense, departing actors, it gets cancelled. We’re left with a handful or episodes, or maybe a season or two if we’re lucky, and that’s it. Plot lines are unresolved, questions left unanswered, potential unreached.
But look at all the shows that were cancelled and then brought back, Futurama, Arrested Development, and Family Guy to name a few. Not to mention that a Veronica Mars movie was recently funded through Kickstarter solely by fans. The possibilities are growing as we have more methods to display our love for these shows in the hopes that someone will listen. So here’s to the cancelled shows of yesteryear. You may be incomplete but we still love you.

Fox’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, the sequel to their 2011 hit “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (I can’t wait for the third movie, “Can These Titles Possibly Get Any Clunkier on the Planet of the Apes”), has added Judy Greer to the cast. Greer is a long-time TV and movie actress (in the movies, she’s usually the “goofy best friend” of the female lead), with roles in “Californication”, “Mad Love”, and “Arrested Development”, though she’ll always be the freaky Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton from “The Big Bang Theory” to me. Vulture has Greer playing the female chimp Cornelia in the upcoming sci-fi sequel, setting her up as the loves interest for rebel ape chief Caesar (mo-capped by Andy Serkis). As with Serkis, Greer will be doing her duties in a mo-cap suit. Matt Reeves (“Cloverfield”) will direct the film, currently set for a May 23, 2014 bow.

The Following, Season 1, Episode 9: “Love Hurts”
Written by Adam Armus & Kay Foster
Directed by Marcos Siega & Adam Davidson
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
“Love Hurts” acts as a kind of sequel to The Following‘s most campy episode, “Mad Love,” the themes of both being revenge, self-sacrifice, being punished for love, and silly serial killin’ girls who be crazy. The first time around, it was the best recipe the show had cooked up, finally giving voice and movement to the show’s ridiculous conceits (fear the killer magnet!). This time around, though, by employing practically the same plot as its predecessor, we end up with shock value déjà vu. Worse still is the distinct feeling that the entire second half of this season is just going to repeat the first half, ever since the farmhouse climax-that-wasn’t.
For starters, sweet, spear gun-wielding Amanda is an exact replica...

As you know, Rupert Grint was cast in a CBS pilot called 'Super Clyde'. Tonight we bring you more news in the form of casting of Clyde's older brother: Tyler Labine. This is according to Entertainment Weekly. Labine's other credits include The CW’s Reaper, Fox’s Sons of Tucson, CBS’ Mad Love and NBC’s Animal Practice. This also means that Rupert will most likely be putting on an American accent for the show. (While this seemed obvious to me, there were some out there wondering, so I think this news tells us he will be an American character.) For a recap, "Super Clyde centers" around a meek unassuming fast food worker who decides to become a super hero. We also want to remind you that while Rupert has been casted in this role, it does not mean that this will be picked up by CBS. This is only a pilot.
