The world is about to get a little bit stranger and I could not be more excited. Taxidermia, Free Fall and Hukkle director Gyorgy Palfi has won an intensely loyal cadre of fans around the globe with his work to date - work that is often challenging, frequently outrageous and never ever boring - and he looks poised to reach his largest audience yet with his first English language work due to begin principal photography on July 18. Titled simply The Voice, Paly's next is an adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's 1968 novel His Master's Voice and will be by far the largest scale production Palfi has engaged in to date. Cineuropa pitches the story like this: The plot follows a thirty-something Hungarian journalist who has...

I'm not sure how interesting this will be for most of you, but Marvel has updated the Iron Man 3 official site with the logo animation you see to the right. Robert Pattinson has joined the cast of Werner Herzog's Queen of the Desert opposite Naomi Watts with a late Fall 2012 start being eyed. The film is based on the true story of Gertrude Bell (Watts), the traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attache for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century. Pattinson's character is that of T.E. Lawrence, whom most know as Lawrence of Arabia. [Variety] Keanu Reeves continues to discuss the prospects of a Bill and Ted's 3 this time telling GQ, "One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it.

The cheese-loving inventor has written a concerto for the Proms – without any help from his dog
Without being rude... your creations have a reputation for not always working as planned (1). How can you be sure your Concerto (2) will not end in tears?
Don't worry – me and Gromit will be backstage to keep an eye on things in person. What could possibly go wrong?
A concerto normally specifies which instrument(s) it has been written for. My Concerto in Ee, Lad does not do that. Is this a deliberate attempt to redefine musical form?
I just couldn't decide what to write it for – spoons, paper and comb, kazoo … So in the end I thought I'd just write it for all of them. With the odd cow bell thrown in for good measure.
Is Gromit pissed off you didn't ask him to collaborate with you?
I suspect an element of professional jealousy...

The director J J Abrams, perhaps wondering why they don't make movies like they used to, has gone and done exactly that – a movie like they, specifically his hero Steven Spielberg, used to make. Almost every frame of it resounds with His Master's Voice. Fans may say Super 8 is a fond tribute, others that it's a blatant knock-off, but either way it doesn't matter, because Spielberg himself is onboard as producer to his one-time protege: at the age of 15 Abrams and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) got a job cutting together Spielberg's old 8mm home movies. So the big man's really just returning a favour.
